Steady state current-voltage characteristics of the amorphous (Se80Te20)98Y2 (Y = Ag, Bi, Ge, Cd) semiconductors at different temperatures are reported. The measurements were performed using direct-current voltage bias to understand the basic conductivity mechanism and to evaluate the impact of each substituent on electrical response. The space charge limited conduction mechanism, and the density of states near Fermi level have been calculated. The difference in electrical response due to different substitutions in the glassy matrix is analyzed.

This article focuses on providing remedial solutions for COVID disease through the data collection process. Recently, In India, sudden human losses are happening due to the spread of infectious viruses. All people are not able to differentiate the number of affected people and their locations. Therefore, the proposed method integrates robotic technology for monitoring the health condition of different people. If any individual is affected by infectious disease, then data will be collected and within a short span of time, it will be reported to the control center. Once, the information is collected, then all individuals can access the same using an application platform. The application platform will be developed based on certain parametric values, where the location of each individual will be retained. For precise application development, the parametric values related to the identification process such as sub-interval points and intensity of detection should be established. Therefore, to check the effectiveness of the proposed robotic technology, an online monitoring system is employed where the output is realized using MATLAB. From simulated values, it is observed that the proposed method outperforms the existing method in terms of data quality with an observed percentage of 82.

Background/Aims: Existing therapeutic options for complicated Crohn’s disease (CD) like biologics and surgery are limited by inadequate long-term efficacy, cost, and adverse effects. Tissue hypoxia is important in CD pathogenesis and may be ameliorated with hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT). We assessed the efficacy and tolerability of HBOT in small bowel stricturing CD. Methods: This pilot study included patients of small bowel stricturing CD (from April 2019 to January 2020) who underwent HBOT. These patients were refractory to conventional medical treatment or had multiple strictures not amenable to resection. Each session of HBOT was given for 60 minutes with a pressure of 1.5-2.5 atm. Clinical, biochemical responses and Short Inflammatory Bowel Disease (SIBD) questionnaire were evaluated at 2 and 6 months, and radiological response was evaluated at 6 months. Results: Fourteen patients (mean age, 42.9±15.7 years; male, 50%) were subjected to 168 HBOT sessions. Thirteen patients (92.7%) had strictures and 1 patient had enterocutaneous fistula in addition. Median number of HBOT sessions was 11 (range, 3-20) which were administered over a median of 4 weeks. Most patients tolerated it well except 1 who had hemotympanum. At 2 and 6 months of follow-up, 64.2% of patients had a clinical response, 50% and 64.2% of patients had clinical remission respectively. Steroid-free clinical remission was seen in 8 (57%) of patients with radiological improvement in 50%. There was a significant improvement in SIBD scores at 2-month follow-up (59.4 vs. 44.5, P=0.03). Conclusions: HBOT can be a safe and effective therapeutic option in patients with stricturing small bowel CD refractory to conventional medical treatment. (Intest Res 2022;20:231-239)
Genome sequencing and de novo and reference-based genome assemblies of Bos indicus breeds

Background Indian cattle breeds (Bos indicus) are known for their remarkable adaptability to hot and humid climates, higher nutritious quality of milk, better disease tolerance, and greater ability to perform in poor feed compared to taurine cattle (Bos taurus). Distinct phenotypic differences are observed among the B. indicus breeds; however, the whole genome sequences were unavailable for these indigenous breeds. Objective We aimed to perform whole genome sequencing to construct the draft genome assemblies of four B. indicus breeds; Ongole, Kasargod Dwarf, Kasargod Kapila, and Vechur (the smallest cattle of the world). Methods We sequenced the whole genomes using Illumina short-read technology, and constructed de novo and reference-based genome assemblies of these native B. indicus breeds for the first time. Results The draft de novo genome assemblies of B. indicus breeds ranged from 1.98 to 3.42 Gbp. We also constructed the mitochondrial genome assemblies (~ 16.3 Kbp), and yet unavailable 18S rRNA marker gene sequences of these B. indicus breeds. The genome assemblies helped to identify the bovine genes related to distinct phenotypic characteristics and other biological processes for this species compared to B. taurus, which are plausibly responsible for providing better adaptive traits. We also identified the genes that showed sequence variation in dwarf and non-dwarf breeds of B. indicus compared to B. taurus. Conclusions The genome assemblies of these Indian cattle breeds, the 18S rRNA marker genes, and identification of the distinct genes in B. indicus breeds compared to B. taurus will help in future studies on these cattle species.
