Opposite Localization of Luteinizing Hormone Receptors and Galectin-3 in Mature Mouse Ovaries

본 연구는 성숙마우스의 난소에서 황체형성호르몬수용체(luteinizing hormone receptor, LHR)와 beta-galctoside-binding animal lectin인 galetin-3 (Gal-3)의 발현분포를 면역조직화학방법으로 평가하였다. LHR은 활동(성숙) 황체에서 강하게 발현되는 반면에, Gal-3의 발현은 퇴행중인 황체와 폐쇄난포에서 높게 나타났다. 또한, 임신중인 마우스의 황체에서는 LHR의 면역반응이 강하게 나타났으나, Gal-3의 면역반응은 현저히 낮았다. 위의 결과를 종합해 볼 때, 성숙마우스의 난소에서 LHR과 Gal-3는 난소의 특정한 시기에 따라 다른 분포양상을 나타냄을 알 수 있었으며, 이들 각각의 단백질의 발현으로 보아 황체의 형성과 퇴행에서 상반된 역할을 할 것으로 여겨진다. Received January 5, 2012 /Revised April 12, 2012 /Accepted May 8, 2012 The present study evaluated the localization of luteinizing hormone receptors (LHR) and galectin-3 (Gal-3), a beta-galactoside-binding animal lectin, in the mature mouse ovaries by immunohistochemical analysis. Intense LHR immunoreactivity was detected in the active corpus luteum (CL), whereas expression of Gal-3 was high in the regressing CL and atretic follicle. In the CL of pregnant mice, LHR immunoreactivity was intense, but Gal-3 expression was low. Thus, LHR and Gal-3 had opposite patterns of expression in mature mouse ovaries, suggesting that both proteins have stage-specific expression patterns and are possibly involved in CL formation and regression.
Expression and localization of endothelial and inducible nitric oxide synthase in bovine uterus

Nitric oxide synthase (NOS) has been reported in uterus. We examined the expression of the NOS isoforms, constitutive endothelial (eNOS) and inducible NOS (iNOS), in bovine uterus by immunohistochemistry. eNOS immunoreactivity was localized predominantly to the endothelial cells that line uterine microvessels and to endometrial glandular epithelial cells, but was barely detectable in endometrial stromal cells. iNOS immunostaining was detected in glandular epithelial and stromal cells in the endometrium and in the endothelial cells of myometrial blood vessels. These findings suggest that both eNOS and iNOS may play important roles in the physiology of the uterus, possibly by generating NO.
Butterfly Fat - Tree 네트워크의 성능 분석

본 논문에서는 볼륨 유니버셜(volume-universal) 네트워크로서 대규모 병렬처리 컴퓨터의 상호연결망으로 쓰이는 유한 버퍼를 가진 패킷 스위칭 Butterfly Fat-Tree의 성능을 분석적 모델(Analytic Model)을 사용하여 분석하였다. Butterfly Fat-Tree 성능 분석 모델은 패킷의 블럭된 상태를 고려하며 응응 프로그램의 지역성을 반영하여 지역성 정도에 따른 Butterfly Fat-Tree 성능 변화 추이를 살펴보았다. 제안하는 성능 분석 모델의 결과를 이벤트 구동(Event Driven) 시뮬레이션에 의한 결과와 비교하여 본 성능 분석 모델이 매우 정확함을 증명하였으며 특히 입력 부하가 작고 버퍼 크기가 작을 수록 더욱 더 시뮬레이션 결과와 근접한 결과를 산출하였다. 그리고 스위치 크기에 따라 변화하는 여러가지 Butterfly Fat-Tree 위상의 성능을 이벤트 구동 시뮬레이션을 통해 비교하였다.

The testis and epididymis are important organs of the male reproductive system; the functionis to produce, mature, transport, and store sperm. It is important to understand the localization and expressionof specific proteins based for the studies of its physiological processes. In this study, we investigated theexpression and distribution of galectin-3, one of beta-galactoside-binding proteins, in the testis andepididymis of mouse using western blot and imunohistochemistry. Western blot analysis revealed that theexpression of galectin-3, 29 kDa protein, was low in the testis. In the epididymis, high expression wasdetected in the body and tail part, but moderate expression in the head part. By immunohistochemicalanalysis, we found that positive localization of galectin-3 was detected in some myoid cells and Leydigin the epithelium of epididymis, especially in the epithelium of both body and tail of epididymis. Collectively,these results suggest that galectin-3 is constitutively expressed in the testis and epididymis of mouse withvarying intensity, and the role of galectin-3 in the male reproductive organ may be involved in the specificfunction of its structures.
Trimethyltin에 의한 랫드 해마의 신경세포 사멸과 iNOS의 연관성

Trimethyltin chloride (TMT) has been used as a neurotoxin for inducing brain dysfunction and neuronal death. Neuronal death in the hippocampus by TMT may generate excessive nitric oxide, but there are few studies about nitric oxide synthase enzyme involved in the synthesis of nitric oxide. The purpose of present study is to analyze the TMT toxicity in each region of rat hippocampus. To evaluate the involvement of nitric oxide, we analyzed the effects of aminoguanidine known as a selective inhibitor for inducible nitric oxide synthase on behavioral changes and the hippocampus of rat by TMT toxicity. 6-week-old male Sprague-Dawley rats were administered with a single dose of TMT (8 mg/kg b.w., i.p.) and the control group was similarly administered with distilled water. TMT + aminoguanidine-treated groups were administered with aminoguanidine (10 mg/kg or 100 mg/kg b.w., i.p.) for 3 days prior to TMT injection. The rats were sacrificed 2 days after TMT administration. In the TMT-treated group, a number of cell losses were seen in CA1, CA3 and the dentate gyrus. In the TMT + aminoguanidine-treated group, neuronal death was seen in CA1 and CA3, but reduced in the dentate gyrus compared to the TMT-treated group. Western blot analysis showed that cleaved caspase-3 expression was increased in the TMT-treated group compared to the control group. However, the expression significantly declined in the TMT + aminoguanidine-treated group. The present findings suggest that inducible nitric oxide synthase is involved in neuronal death induced by TMT.
