Cho Seunghee H.,Kwon Sun Sang,Yi Jaeseok,Park Won Il 나노기술연구협의회 2016 Nano Convergence Vol.3 No.14
Graphene has been intensively studied for applications to high-performance sensors, but the sensing characteristics of graphene devices have varied from case to case, and the sensing mechanism has not been satisfactorily determined thus far. In this review, we describe recent progress in engineering of the defects in graphene grown by a silica-assisted chemical vapor deposition technique and elucidate the effect of the defects upon the electrical response of graphene sensors. This review provides guidelines for engineering and/or passivating defects to improve sensor performance and reliability.

EunYoung Cho,YuSang Lee,KyeongSook Choi,YongLee Jang,SeungHee Cho,HyunOk Jeun,JongWon Kim,KyungSue Hong 대한신경정신의학회 2004 PSYCHIATRY INVESTIGATION Vol.1 No.1
Objectives-Chromosome 8p21-12 has been identified as a susceptibility locus for schizophrenia based on several genomewide linkage scans with Caucasian families. The purpose of this study is to investigate the linkage of this locus to schizophrenia in Korean families. Materials and Methods-We recruited ninety-one family members from twenty-seven multiplex schizophrenia families. Fifty-nine of them were affected individuals. Seven microsatellite markers of this region with 3cM intervals were genotyped. Non-parametric linkage analysis was performed by evaluating the levels of allele sharing between the affected relative pairs. Results-In the multi-point analysis, all the points tested within this area showed positive but non-significant non-parametric lod (NPL) scores with the peak occurring between D8S1820 and D8S1769. In the single point analysis, statistically significant allele sharing was observed at D8S1769 (NPL=1.65, p=0.049). Higher levels of NPL scores (the highest single point NPL=1.98, p=0.025) were observed when the same analyses were applied to a subgroup of families in which all of the affected individuals showed auditory hallucination. Conclusions-These findings support the previous evidence from Caucasian families for a locus predisposing to schizophrenia at 8p21-12. Further studies designed to screen positional candidate genes and their SNPs at this locus are warranted, in order to identify the specific causative genetic variation of schizophrenia.
A Social Network Analysis of the Ecosystem Transformation Caused by Technological Innovation
Namjae Cho,SeungHee Oh 한국정보기술응용학회 2014 Journal of information technology applications & m Vol.21 No.4
As the complexity of business environment increases rapidly the use advanced information technology start to affect not only the business processes of individual companies but also the fundamental nature of business and industrial ecosystem. The changes observed at the level of business and industrial ecosystem encompasses a broad range of transformation. This unit of analysis is not sufficiently dealt with by existing information system research. This research attempted to analyze the changes in business ecosystem caused by digital transformation using Social Network Analysis. We studied structural change of the Korea film industry ecosystem chronologically divided by critical events. The film industry is chosen because it is an industry very sensitive to the changes in technology and has gone through massive transformation during the last three decade by way of using modern information technology.
한국어 교육용 외래어 선정을 위한 기초 연구 -외래어의 기본 개념을 중심으로-
조승희 ( Seunghee Cho ) 한국외국어대학교 언어연구소 2024 언어와 언어학 Vol.- No.103
Given that many loanwords have entered the Korean lexicon from foreign languages, teaching them to Korean Language learners has become important for improving learners’ communication skills. To list loanwords that should be taught in Korean as a foreign language education, this study analyzed the basic loanword-related concepts discussed in the Korean linguistics and this paper suggests providing learners with useful study material from a pedagogical approach. Specifically, the teaching of frequently used loanwords is necessary, and a learner dictionary should include the foreign names of places and persons related to learners’ cultural backgrounds from a learner-centered approach. Exposing learners to loanwords with a non-standard form is also important, and notably, there exist foreign-originated words that have not yet been acknowledged as loanwords.

<▼1>
The establishment of correct neurotransmitter characteristics is an essential step of neuronal fate specification in CNS development. However, very little is known about how a battery of genes involved in the determination of a specific type of chemical-driven neurotransmission is coordinately regulated during vertebrate development. Here, we investigated the gene regulatory networks that specify the cholinergic neuronal fates in the spinal cord and forebrain, specifically, spinal motor neurons (MNs) and forebrain cholinergic neurons (FCNs). Conditional inactivation of Isl1, a LIM homeodomain factor expressed in both differentiating MNs and FCNs, led to a drastic loss of cholinergic neurons in the developing spinal cord and forebrain. We found that Isl1 forms two related, but distinct types of complexes, the Isl1-Lhx3-hexamer in MNs and the Isl1-Lhx8-hexamer in FCNs. Interestingly, our genome-wide ChIP-seq analysis revealed that the Isl1-Lhx3-hexamer binds to a suite of cholinergic pathway genes encoding the core constituents of the cholinergic neurotransmission system, such as acetylcholine synthesizing enzymes and transporters. Consistently, the Isl1-Lhx3-hexamer directly coordinated upregulation of cholinergic pathways genes in embryonic spinal cord. Similarly, in the developing forebrain, the Isl1-Lhx8-hexamer was recruited to the cholinergic gene battery and promoted cholinergic gene expression. Furthermore, the expression of the Isl1-Lhx8-complex enabled the acquisition of cholinergic fate in embryonic stem cell-derived neurons. Together, our studies show a shared molecular mechanism that determines the cholinergic neuronal fate in the spinal cord and forebrain, and uncover an important gene regulatory mechanism that directs a specific neurotransmitter identity in vertebrate CNS development.
</▼1><▼2>
Author Summary

Neurons utilize various chemicals to transmit signals to a target cell. Distinct types of neurons in the spinal cord and forebrain, collectively termed cholinergic neurons, utilize the same chemical, acetylcholine, for signal transmission. These neurons play critical roles in controlling locomotion and cognition. In this study, we have found that the Isl1 gene orchestrates the process to generate cholinergic neurons in the spinal cord and forebrain. Isl1 forms two different types of multi-protein complexes in the spinal cord and forebrain. Both complexes bind the same genomic regions in a group of genes critical for cholinergic signal transmission, and promote their simultaneous expression. These cholinergic genes include enzymes that synthesize acetylcholine and proteins required to package acetylcholine into vesicles. The Isl1-containing multi-protein complexes were able to trigger the generation of cholinergic neurons in embryonic stem cells and neural stem cells. Our study reveals crucial mechanisms to coordinate the expression of genes in the same biological pathway in different cell types. Furthermore, it suggests a new strategy to produce cholinergic neurons from stem cells.
</▼2>
Identification of Loliolide with Anti-Aging Properties from Scenedesmus deserticola JD052
Cho Dae-Hyun,Yun Jin-Ho,Heo Jina,Lee In-Kyoung,Lee Yong-Jae,Bae Seunghee,Yun Bong-Sik,Kim Hee-Sik 한국미생물·생명공학회 2023 Journal of microbiology and biotechnology Vol.33 No.9
Herein, different extracts of Scenedesmus deserticola JD052, a green microalga, were evaluated in vitro as a potential anti-aging bioagent. Although post-treatment of microalgal culture with either UV irradiation or high light illumination did not lead to a substantial difference in the effectiveness of microalgal extracts as a potential anti-UV agent, the results indicated the presence of a highly potent compound in ethyl acetate extract with more than 20% increase in the cellular viability of normal human dermal fibroblasts (nHDFs) compared with the negative control amended with DMSO. The subsequent fractionation of the ethyl acetate extract led to two bioactive fractions with high anti-UV property; one of the fractions was further separated down to a single compound. While electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (ESI-MS) and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy analysis identified this single compound as loliolide, its identification has been rarely reported in microalgae previously, prompting thorough systematic investigations into this novel compound for the nascent microalgal industry.
Analysis of the Motivator of the Use of Social Network Services
Cho, Namjae,Ko, Geonil,Oh, Seunghee Korea Data Strategy Society 2013 Journal of information technology applications & m Vol.20 No.3
With a focus on Facebook, the most popular social network service (SNS), this research tried to find out which type of motivation makes users to spend more time on the SNS and in the same vein, which type of motivation makes users to believe that they will continue to use the SNS. The result shows that the need for play (entertaining) and image as social reputation affect the current amount of use, while the needs for information search, building relationship, and entertainment would make them continue to use.
