Evaluation of the Synergistic Effect of Mixed Cultures of White-Rot Fungus Pleurotus ostreatus and Biosurfactant-Producing Bacteria on DDT Biodegradation

( Adi Setyo Purnomo ),( Khoirul Ashari ),( Farizha Triyogi Hermansyah ) 한국미생물생명공학회(구 한국산업미생물학회) 2017 Journal of microbiology and biotechnology Vol.27 No.7

DDT (1,1,1-trichloro-2,2-bis(4-chlorophenyl) ethane) is one of the organic synthetic pesticides that has many negative effects for human health and the environment. The purpose of this study was to investigate the synergistic effect of mixed cutures of white-rot fungus, Pleurotus ostreatus, and biosurfactant-producing bacteria, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Bacillus subtilis, on DDT biodegradation. Bacteria were added into the P. ostreatus culture (mycelial wet weight on average by 8.53 g) in concentrations of 1, 3, 5, and 10 ml (1 ml = 1.25 × 109 bacteria cells/ml culture). DDT was degraded to approximately 19% by P. ostreatus during the 7-day incubation period. The principal result of this study was that the addition of 3 ml of P. aeruginosa into P. ostreatus culture gave the highest DDT degradation rate (approximately 86%) during the 7-day incubation period. This mixed culture combination of the fungus and bacteria also gave the best ratio of optimization of 1.91. DDD (1,1-dichloro-2,2-bis(4-chlorophenyl) ethane), DDE (1,1-dichloro-2,2-bis(4-chlorophenyl) ethylene), and DDMU (1-chloro-2,2-bis(4-chlorophenyl) ethylene) were detected as metabolic products from the DDT degradation by P. ostreatus and P. aeruginosa. The results of this study indicate that P. aeruginosa has a synergistic relationship with P. ostreatus and can be used to optimize the degradation of DDT by P. ostreatus.

Correlation of Clinical Score, Radiological Examination, and Nasopharyngeal Endoscopy in Adenoid Hypertrophy Patients as a Consideration of Adenoidectomy

        Puguh Setyo Nugroho,Rosa Falerina,Hendra Kurnia Rakhma,Alfian Nurfaizi 대한이비인후과학회 2023 대한이비인후과학회지 두경부외과학 Vol.66 No.5

Background and Objectives Appropriate diagnostics help in determining the best ap-proach for managing adenoid hypertrophy. This study aimed to learn more about many diag-nostic procedures for adenoid hypertrophy to improve good health and the quality of medicaldecisions, such as clinical symptoms measured by clinical scores, radiological examination, and nasopharyngeal endoscopy. Subjects and Method An examination was conducted on 73 patients who had symptoms ofadenoid hypertrophy at the Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery (ORL-HNS) outpa-tient unit. The participants underwent all of the diagnostic stages, including history takingand physical examination to determine the clinical scores, radiological examination, and theendoscopic examination of the nasopharynx. The correlation between the clinical scores, ra-diological examination, and the endoscopic examination of the nasopharynx was statisticallyanalyzed. Results Of the 73 patients, 46 were male (63%) and 27 were female (37%). The correlationbetween each examination modality was determined using the Spearman’s statistical analysis. There was a moderately strong correlation between clinical scores and radiological examina-tions with the p-value of 0.0022 and the r-value of 0.3529, and a very strong significant corre-lation between the clinical scores and endoscopic examination with the p-value of 0.0001 andthe r-value of 0.7562. In comparison, the correlation between the radiological and endoscopicexaminations of the nasopharynx was significant but weak, with the p-value of 0.0057 and ther-value of 0.3208. Conclusion The findings indicated that radiological and endoscopic examinations of the na-sopharynx could be used to establish a correlation between adenoid hypertrophy and clinicalsymptoms associated with adenoid hypertrophy. Although the correlation strength was statis-tically different, these diagnostic modalities can complement each other.

        Amin Setyo Leksono,Bambang FERIWIBISONO,Teguh ARIFIANTO,Ahmad Febri PRATAMA 한국곤충학회 2017 Entomological Research Vol.47 No.4

Odonate diversity in East Java was surveyed, and samplings were made during 2 years in ten sites along an altitudinal gradient. The characteristics of odonate assemblages in East Java were analyzed regarding of the number of individuals, the number of species, and Shannon's diversity index. The differences in abundance, species richness, and diversity between study sites were analyzed by an independent t‐test. There were 3270 individuals of Odonata belong to 30 species, 7 families and 2 suborders identified from all study sites. The abundance, species richness and diversity of Odonata varied between study sites. The greatest abundance of Odonata was found in Malang Coban Talun (MCT) (148.8 ± 9.5), while the lowest was in South Beach Forest (SBF) (14.4 ± 3.6). The highest species richness and diversity was found in Malang Paddy Field (MPF) (richness =14.4 ± 0.8 and H′ = 2.4 ± 0.1), while the lowest was found in South Coastal Area (SCA) (richness =2.8 ± 0.1 and H′ = 0.4 ± 0.1). A significant positive correlation was detected between the elevation and overall odonate abundance (P < 0.05), while there was not significant correlation between that and odonate species richness and diversity.

The Impact of Government Regulations on Consumers Behaviour during the COVID-19 Pandemic: A Case Study in Indonesia

Sri Setyo IRIANI,Dian Anita NUSWANTARA,Ajeng Dianing KARTIKA,Purwohandoko PURWOHANDOKO 한국유통과학회 2021 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.8 No.4

The purpose of the research is to examine whether government regulation on Covid 19 pandemic has had a significant impact in economic sectors, particularly on consumer behavior. Thus there are three hypotheses, 1) viral marketing has an effect on online trust during the Covid-19 Pandemic Era, 2) viral marketing has an effect on impulse buying during the Covid-19 Pandemic Era, and 3) Viral marketing has an effect on impulse buying in the Covid-19 Pandemic Era through online trust. To test the hypotheses, questionnaires were distributed to 150 respondents, however, only 110 were selected due to incomplete data. There are 3 variables, namely viral marketing, online trust, and impulse buying, where online trust is also a mediating variable. Once the assumption test is completed, the researcher employs path analysis to test the hypotheses. The results are 1) there is an effect of viral marketing on online trust in the Covid-19 Pandemic Era, 2) There is no effect of viral marketing on impulse buying in the Covid-19 Pandemic Era, and 3) Viral marketing has an effect on impulse buying in the Covid-19 Pandemic Era through online trust. This means online trust succeed in mediating viral marketing-impulse buying relationship. The findings emphasized that the credibility of online trust enforce consumers in making buying decisions.

Ralstonia pickettii Enhance the DDT Biodegradation by Pleurotus eryngii

( Adi Setyo Purnomo ),( Diana Maulianawati ),( Ichiro Kamei ) 한국미생물생명공학회(구 한국산업미생물학회) 2019 Journal of microbiology and biotechnology Vol.29 No.9

DDT is a hydrophobic organic pollutant, which can be bio-accumulated in nature and have adverse consequences on the physical condition of humans and animals. This study investigated the relationship between the white-rot fungus Pleurotus eryngii and biosurfactant-producing bacterium Ralstonia pickettii associated with the degradation of DDT. The effects of R. pickettii on fungal development were examined using in vitro confrontation assay on a potato dextrose agar (PDA) medium. R. pickettii culture was added to the P. eryngii culture at 1, 3, 5, 7, and 10 ml (1 ml ≈ 1.44 × 1013 CFU). After 7 d incubation, about 43% of the initial DDT (12.5 μM) was degraded by the P. eryngii culture only. The augmentation of 7 ml of R. pickettii culture revealed a more highly optimized synergism with DDT degradation being approximately 78% and the ratio of optimization 1.06. According to the confrontational assay, R. pickettii promoted the growth of P. eryngii towards the bacterial colony, with no direct contact between the bacterial cells and mycelium (0.71 cm/day). DDD (1,1-dichloro-2,2-bis(4-chlorophenyl) ethane), DDE (1,1-dichloro-2,2-bis(4-chlorophenyl) ethylene), and DDMU (1-chloro-2,2-bis(4-chlorophenyl) ethylene) were identified as metabolic products, indicating that the R. pickettii could enhance the DDT biodegradation by P. eryngii.

Harbi Setyo Nugroho,Gema Refantero,Ni Luh Wulan Septiani,Muhammad Iqbal,Septhian Marno,Huda Abdullah,Eka Cahya Prima,Nugraha,Brian Yuliarto 한국공업화학회 2022 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.105 No.-

The increasing demand for energy in recent decades due to rapid industrial and population growth hasresulted in a heavy dependence on non-renewable energy which leads to environmental problems. Solar energy has emerged as a promising candidate for renewable energy because its sources are unlimitedand do not produce pollutants that damage the environment. Among the different kind of solar cells,CZTS(e) solar cells have the advantage of reaching the Shockley–Queisser limit (SQL) of 30.9% with lowproduction costs, non-toxicity, and abundance of constituent elements. However, the current performanceof CZTS(e) solar cells is still below the commercial performance standard of at least 20%. Thisreview comprehensively addresses the limiting factors that prevent CZTS(e) solar cells from achievingcommercial grade performance. The phenomenon behind the problem will be independently highlightedand explained how it affects performance. Then, various solving methods specific to each problem thathave been carried out during the manufacturing process will be discussed. At the end of this review article,a comprehensive summary and view of the possible future prospects for the manufacture of highefficiencyCZTS(e) solar cells are provided.
