By applying Theorem 2.6.4 (Fang and Zhang, 1990, p.66) the dispersion matrix of a multivariate power exponential (MPE) distribution is derived. It is shown that the MPE and the gamma distributions are related and thus the MPE and chi-square distributions are related. By extending Fang and Xu's Theorem (1987) from the normal distribution to the Univariate Power Exponential (UPE) distribution an explicit expression is derived for calculating the probability of an UPE random variable over an interval. A representation of the characteristic function (c.f.) for an UPE distribution is given. Based on the MPE distribution the probability density functions of the generalized non-central chi-square, the generalized non-central t, and the generalized non-central F distributions are derived.

<P>The <I>RUNX1-RUNX1T1</I> fusion is a frequent chromosomal alteration in acute myeloid leukemias (AMLs). Although <I>RUNX1-RUNX1T1</I> fusion protein has pivotal roles in the development of AMLs with the fusion, <I>RUNX1-RUNX1T1</I>, fusion protein is difficult to target, as it lacks kinase activities. Here, we used bioinformatic tools to elucidate targetable signaling pathways in AMLs with <I>RUNX1-RUNX1T1</I> fusion. After analysis of 93 AML cases from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database, we found expression of 293 genes that correlated to the expression of the <I>RUNX1-RUNX1T1</I> fusion gene. Based on these 293 genes, the cyclooxygenase (COX), vascular endothelial growth factor receptor (VEGFR), platelet-derived growth factor receptor (PDGFR), and fibroblast growth factor receptor (FGFR) pathways were predicted to be specifically activated in AMLs with <I>RUNX1-RUNX1T1</I> fusion. Moreover, the in vitro proliferation of AML cells with <I>RUNX1-RUNX1T1</I> fusion decreased significantly more than that of AML cells without the fusion, when the pathways were inhibited pharmacologically. The results indicate that novel targetable signaling pathways could be identified by the analysis of the gene expression features of AMLs with non-targetable genetic alterations. The elucidation of specific molecular targets for AMLs that have a specific genetic alteration would promote personalized treatment of AMLs and improve clinical outcomes.</P>

The objective of this study was to analyze the genetic diversity using SSR marker and investigate the fatty acid composition of perilla (P. frutescens var. frutescens) germplasm. Genetic diversity among 95 accessions, which consisted of 29 weedy types and 66 landrace accessions, was evaluated based on 12 SSR markers carrying 91 alleles. The mean values of observed ($H_O$) and expected heterozygosities ($H_E$) were 0.574 and 0.640, respectively, indicating a considerable amount of polymorphism within this collection. A genetic distance-based phylogeny grouped into two distinct groups, which were the landrace, moderate and weedy type, genetic distance (GD) value was 0.609. The physicochemical traits about crude oil contents and fatty acid compositions were analyzed using GC. Among tested germplasm, the total average oil contents (%) showed a range from 28.57 to 49.67 %. Five fatty acids and their contents in the crude oils are as follows: ${\alpha}$-linolenic acid (41.12%-51.81%), linoleic acid (15.38%-16.43%), oleic acid (18.93%-27.28%), stearic acid (2.56%-4.01%), and palmitic acid (7.38%-10.77%). The average oil content of wild types was lower than landrace, and the oil content of middle genotype accessions was higher than other germplasm, but no significant variation between landrace and wild types was shown. Nevertheless, IT117174, landrace of Korea, was highest in crude oil content (47.11%) and linolenic acid composition (64.58%) among the used germplasm. These traits of the selected accessions will be helped for new functional plant breeding in perilla crop.

Purpose: Exercise intervention after surgery has been found to improve physical fitness and quality of life (QOL). The purpose of this study was to investigate the feasibility and effects of a postoperative recovery exercise program developed specifically for gastric cancer patients (PREP-GC) undergoing minimally invasive gastrectomy. Materials and Methods: Twenty-four patients treated surgically for early gastric cancer were enrolled in the PREP-GC. The exercise program comprised sessions of In-hospital Exercise (1 week), Home Exercise (1 week), and Fitness Improvement Exercise (8 weeks). Adherence and compliance to PREP-GC were evaluated. In addition, body composition, physical fitness, and QOL were assessed during the preoperative period, after the postoperative recovery (2 weeks after surgery), and upon completing the PREP-GC (10 weeks after surgery). Results: Of the 24 enrolled patients, 20 completed the study without any adverse events related to the PREP-GC. Adherence and compliance rates to the Fitness Improvement Exercise were 79.4% and 99.4%, respectively. Upon completing the PREP-GC, patients also exhibited restored cardiopulmonary function and muscular strength, with improved muscular endurance and flexibility (P<0.05). Compared to those in the preoperative period, no differences were found in symptom scale scores measured using the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) Core Quality of Life Questionnaire (QLQ-C30) and Quality of Life Questionnaire-Stomach Cancer-Specific Module (QLQ-STO22); however, higher scores for global health status and emotional functioning were observed after completing the PREP-GC (P<0.05). Conclusions: In gastric cancer patients undergoing minimally invasive gastrectomy, PREP-GC was found to be feasible and safe, with high adherence and compliance. Although randomized studies evaluating the benefits of exercise intervention during postoperative recovery are needed, surgeons should encourage patients to participate in systematic exercise intervention programs in the early postoperative period (Registered at the ClinicalTrials.gov, NCT01751880).

Dissolved oxygen (DO) and pH sensors were added to sequence batch reactor (SBR) to achieve highly efficient and reliable discharge water quality and treatment time. In this study, the fuzzy expert system was used to improve existing DO and pH control unit for effective sewage disposal control. The system utilized settled sludge layer in influent wastewater to maximize denitrificaton rate by controlling DO and pH levels in a tank. By providing adequate solids retention time, elimination of floating materials as well as denitrification and phosphorus removal were achieved in small wastewater treatment system. The system also reduced odor by controlling the production of ammonia in a sewage disposal equipment.
