Aesthetics, Politics, and Ideology in Paul de Man

Although it may not be considered too far-fetched to mention the demise of deconstruction as a critical movement, it seems to be rash to dismiss the works of its major practitioners as a simple embodiment of by-gone ideas. Perhaps this is most true in the case of de Man. If we can say that de Man still remains a strong figure in the American academy,perhaps it is not only because the figure of de Man left such an indelible mark on the academic scene, but also because his works ceaselessly lead us to the interactions of such key critical concepts as language, aesthetics,politics, ideology, history, culture, and so on. It is well-known that the alleged political quietism of de Man’s postwar writings was the main target of criticism from his opponents. That is, the antagonism to de Man and his writings was usually grounded on political,ethical, or moral claims. His mode of reading strategy was said to promote textuality at the expense of the “real” world and its political imperatives and to foreground language and rhetoric to the exclusion of material reality upon which the political unfolds. Indeed, the status of politics has been the center of critical target that his opponents aim at. Furthermore, the revelation of his wartime writings added fuel to the already controversial issue of Paul de Man and the question of politics. Yet such an impression should not be translated into the conclusion that de Man ignored and dismissed the field of the political as simply insignificant or meaningless. In fact, it is not hard to find the question of politics seriously discussed in de Man’s major works. Indeed, the question of politics and its cognate category ideology was one of the growing concerns in de Man’s whole writings. By examining lots of essays that deal with the political, this paper intends to do a full-length investigation on the much contended topic, the status of aesthetic, politics and ideology in Paul de Man, in terms of their matching categories poetry, language, and rhetoric, specifically focussing on the idea of “aesthetic ideology” that he coined in his later years. And this paper concludes that one should not expect from him any commonsensical theories of politics and ideology; rather, one should be reminded that he severely criticized and deconstructed any versions of conventional political ideas.

온라인 쇼핑몰에 대한 사회적 실재감, 자기표현 및 만족에 관한 연구

In the field of psychology, it is said that self-assertion facilitates relationship by increasing self-understanding and others-understanding. This study investigates factors affecting online customer's self-assertion through e-mails or bulletins, centering around relational dimension between customers and the online shopping mall.The results show that social presence experienced in the mall influences self-assertion significantly and shopping mall responsiveness and dynamic bulletins influence self-assertion through social presence. This facts implicate that self-assertion assumes the conviction of other's presence. Finally, the more customers self-assert, the more customers satisfy. 심리학 분야에서 자기표현은 자기이해와 타인이해를 증진시켜 관계발전에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 알려져 있다. 이에 본 연구는 온라인 쇼핑몰 고객들이 이메일이나 게시판을 통해 그들의 생각이나 느낌을 표현하도록 하는 요인을 고객과 쇼핑몰 관계 차원의 변수를 중심으로 살펴보았다.분석결과, 고객이 쇼핑몰에서 경험하는 사회적 실재감이 자기표현에 중요한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며, 쇼핑몰의 반응성과 게시판 활동성은 사회적 실재감을 통한 간접적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이는 고객의 자기표현활동은 상대방의 존재에 대한 확인이 선행되어야 함을 시사한다. 끝으로 자기표현을 많이 한 고객일수록 쇼핑몰에 대한 만족도가 큰 것으로 나타났다.

In this paper, we present the development of a fuzzy system for constant speed control of sensorless BLDC motors which can be used in small-sized electric fans. The system consists of several components including MCU (Micro Controller Unit), AD converter, SMPS (Switched-Mode Power Supply), inverter, and communication port. In this work, we use a three-phase six-step inverter. We adopted a fuzzy logic approach for constant speed control of the fan motors, and employed the closed loop control using the feedback of the back EMF (electromotive force) which is calculated by measuring the current and using PWM signals in the fan motors. We have implemented the fuzzy system, and expect to conduct experiments to verify its performance and quality.

동서 냉전시대에는 국제정치, 경제에서 주변부로 관심 밖이던 카프카즈, 카스피 지역은 21세기 국제정치에서 정치, 군사, 에너지 자원 등 여러 측면에서 주요 관심 지역으로 부상하고 있다. 본고는 이러한 연구 방향에서 카프카즈, 카스피 지역을 역사적으로 개관하고 이들 지역이 내포하는 지역 문제들을 우선 검토한다. 그리고 특히 소연방 해체 이후 새롭게 조성되는 지역질서와 이에 따라 제기되는 연구과제를 미국과 러시아의 대응에 초점을 맞추어 검토하기로 한다. 또한 카프카즈 3국과 카스피연안국 그리고 주변 지역국과 인종(체첸인, 쿠르드인등)간의 분쟁 또한 미국과 러시아의 지역정책과 맞물려 그 향방이 주목된다. 미국과 러시아 모두 이 지역의 안정을 선호하며 이를 도모하는 방향으로는 보조를 맞출 것이다. 미국도 지나치게 러시아를 고립시켜서는 안될 것이라 인식하고 있으며 실제로 러시아와 부분적으로 협력하는 양상도 나타나고 있다. 카스피해 자원개발을 둘러싸고 경쟁을 보였던 러시아와 미국의 협력 가능성을 시사하고 있다. 러시아도 보다 현실적인 방향으로 지역의 현상태를 인정하연서 대미 타형으로 변화하는 양상을 보이기도 하였다. 러시아 국경 카스피 지역에서 석유유전의 발견으로 이 지역에 서방과 공동 참여하는 방향으로 움직이고 있다. 그런 반면, 이 지역에서 미국과 러시아의 협력은 한계가 있을 것이라는 평가도 일반적이다. Kavkaz and Caspian Sea Areas have newly emerged as important area in the new millenium world affairs since the end of cold war and the collapse of the Soviet Union. Their importance pertains to energy security as well as military one. This research, in this context, expounds a brief history and issues in the region. Main focus centers on position and policy of the U. S. and Russia. Both the United States and Russia have managed policy behavior of competition under compromise. This pattern will find itself in the next period to come. The case is true of an exploitation and a transportation of Caspian Sea oil : participation in AIOC and pipeline.
