Towards Effective Entity Extraction of Scientific Documents using Discriminative Linguistic Features

Named entity recognition (NER) is an important technique for improving the performance of data mining and big data analytics. In previous studies, NER systems have been employed to identify named-entities using statistical methods based on prior information or linguistic features; however, such methods are limited in that they are unable to recognize unregistered or unlearned objects. In this paper, a method is proposed to extract objects, such as technologies, theories, or person names, by analyzing the collocation relationship between certain words that simultaneously appear around specific words in the abstracts of academic journals. The method is executed as follows. First, the data is preprocessed using data cleaning and sentence detection to separate the text into single sentences. Then, part-of-speech (POS) tagging is applied to the individual sentences. After this, the appearance and collocation information of the other POS tags is analyzed, excluding the entity candidates, such as nouns. Finally, an entity recognition model is created based on analyzing and classifying the information in the sentences.
심층 강화학습 기반 무선 전력 통신네트워크를 위한 분산 자원할당 최적화

본 논문은 무선 전력 통신네트워크에서 합 전송률을 최대화하기 위한 분산 자원 할당 최적화 연구를 진행하였다. 심층 강화학습 기법을 활용하여 기존의 중앙 처리 방식 기법에 의존하여 전역 정보가 필요한 최적화 기법과 달리 각 H-AP 가 해당 셀의 지역 정보만 이용하여 분산적으로 작동하게 하는 알고리즘을 제시하고, 실험 결과를 통해 제안한 기법의 성능을 확인하였다.
모바일 광고 기술에서 Hawkes 프로세스 기반 생성 모델에 관한 연구

모바일 광고 기술(AD Tech)분야에서 기계학습은 사용자별 CTR(Click Through Ratio) 예측[1]에 국한되어 왔으며 2016 년도부터 시행된 GDPR(General Data Protection Regulation)[2] 정책으로 인하여 AD Tech 관련 사업자의 사용자 개인정보 접근이 제한되어왔다. 그 결과 Feature Data 에 기반한 사용자 타겟팅 및 Ad Tech 산업에서 기계 학습 기술을 적용하는데 현실적 어려움을 가져왔다. 본 논문에서는 기존 연구와 현실적 한계를 극복하기 위하여 사용자가 아닌 매체별 클릭 분포를 예측하는 Hawkes Process 에 기반한 생성모델을 제안하고 그 가능성을 살펴본다.

BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a common metabolic disease triggered by epigenetic alterations, including lysine acetylation at histone or non-histone proteins, affecting the stability or transcription of lipogenic genes. Although various natural dietary compounds have anti-lipogenic effects, their effects on the acetylation status and lipid metabolism in the liver have not been thoroughly investigated. MATERIALS/METHODS: Following oleic-palmitic acid (OPA)-induced lipid accumulation in HepG2 cells, the acetylation status of histone and non-histone proteins, HAT activity, and mRNA expression of representative lipogenic genes, including PPARγ, SREBP-1c, ACLY, and FASN, were evaluated. Furthermore, correlations between lipid accumulation and HAT activity for 22 representative natural food extracts (NExs) were evaluated. RESULTS: Non-histone protein acetylation increased following OPA treatment and the acetylation of histones H3K9, H4K8, and H4K16 was accelerated, accompanied by an increase in HAT activity. OPA-induced increases in the mRNA expression of lipogenic genes were down-regulated by C-646, a p300/CBP-specific inhibitor. Finally, we detected a positive correlation between HAT activity and lipid accumulation (Pearson’s correlation coefficient = 0.604) using 22 NExs. CONCLUSIONS: Our results suggest that NExs have novel applications as nutraceutical agents with HAT inhibitor activity for the prevention and treatment of NAFLD.
Measuring T<sub>1</sub> contrast in ex-vivo prostate tissue at the Earth's magnetic field

A former study has shown that the spin-lattice relaxation time ($T_1$) in cancerous prostate tissue had enhanced contrast at an ultra-low magnetic field, $132{\mu}T$. To study the field dependence and the origin of the contrast we measured $T_1$ in pairs of ex-vivo prostate tissues at the Earth's magnetic field. A portable and coil-based nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) system was adopted for $T_1$ measurements at $40{\mu}T$. The $T_1$ contrast, ${\delta}=1-T_1$ (more cancer)/$T_1$(less cancer), was calculated from each pair. Additionally, we performed pathological examinations such as Gleason's score, cell proliferation index, and micro-vessel density (MVD), to quantify correlations between the pathological parameters and $T_1$ of the cancerous prostate tissues.

<P>Three new organic dyes that contain the dithienosilole (DTS) moiety as spacer have been synthesized and their photophysical/electrochemical properties, theoretical calculation and dye-sensitized solar cell (DSSC) performance have been investigated. The overall conversion efficiencies for DSSCs based on these dyes range from 6.73 to 7.50%, comparable to a (3–5′-[<I>N</I>,<I>N</I>-bis(9,9-dimethylfluorene-2-yl)phenyl]2,2′-bithiophene-5-yl}-2-cyanoacrylic acid (<B>JK-2</B>)-sensitized device (7.63%), fabricated and measured under the same experimental conditions. The DSSC constructed from one of the three compounds shows a higher open-circuit voltage (<I>V</I><SUB>OC</SUB>) compared to those of the other two dye sensitized solar cells due to an increased electron lifetime (<I>τ</I><SUB>e</SUB>) in the conduction band of TiO<SUB>2</SUB>.</P> <P>Graphic Abstract</P><P>Organic sensitizers bearing dithienosilole (DTS) segment as spacer, DTS-Me<SUB>2</SUB>, DTS-Ph<SUB>2</SUB> and DTS-MePh, exhibit solar conversion efficiencies of 6.73, 7.50 and 6.81%, respectively. <IMG SRC='http://pubs.rsc.org/services/images/RSCpubs.ePlatform.Service.FreeContent.ImageService.svc/ImageService/image/GA?id=b926163j'> </P>
