원자력발전소 해체 시 발생하는 금속폐기물은 폐기물 중에서 많은 비중을 차지하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 국내 자체처분 규제 요건 및 국내 기관별 자체처분현황을 조사하였다. 실제 원자력발전소 해체 시 발생되는 금속폐기물의 자체처분을 위하여 RESRAD-RECYCLE 코드를 이용하였으며 26가지 시나리오에 대한 선량평가를 수행하였다. 평가결과는 원자력발전소 해체 시 자체처분 및 재활용에 관한 사전자료로서 활용가치가 있을 것으로 사료된다. 추후 자체처분을 통한 처분비용 저감효과 연구가 추가로 가능할 것으로 판단된다. The metal waste generated during nuclear power plant decommissioning constitutes a large proportion of the total radioactive waste. This study investigates the current status of domestic and international regulatory requirements for clearance and the clearance experience of domestic institutions. The RESRAD-RECYCLE code was used for analyzing the clearance of the metal wastes generated during actual nuclear power plant decommissioning, and assessment of the exposure dose of twenty-six scenarios was carried out. The evaluation results will be useful in preliminary analysis of clearance and recycling during nuclear power plant decommissioning. As a next step, the effects of reducing disposal costs by clearance can be studied.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Despite the excellent biocompatibility and antifouling effect of poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG), the high steric hindrance, limited chemical functionality, and low ligand multivalency of PEGylated nanocarriers often lead to inefficient cell targeting and intracellular trafficking. Hence, a new structure of hydrophilic corona allowing a higher ligand density without loss of excellent biocompatibility is highly desirable. Here we introduce tumor-targeted polyglycerolated (PGylated) nanocarriers that dramatically enhance the <I>in vivo</I> therapeutic efficacy of incorporated paclitaxel simply by increasing the surface density of hydrophobic tumor-targeting ligands. Linear polyglycerol-poly (ε-caprolactone) block copolymer (PG-<I>b</I>-PCL) is used to prepare PGylated lipiodol nanoemulsions, where PG serves as a corona conjugated with a large number of folic acid (FA) for efficient tumor targeting. Unlike FA-PEGylated nanoemulsions, FA-PGylated nanoemulsions can display a larger number of FA without structural destabilization. This property enables excellent anti-cancer activities and effective tumor regression in a cervical cancer xenograft murine model at a cumulative drug dose of ∼5 mg kg<SUP>−1</SUP>, which is about four fold smaller than that of commercial Taxol formulation. This study highlights the importance of surface chemistry of nanocarriers that enable multivalent ligand functionalization and high tolerance to the conjugation of hydrophobic ligands, which make PG as a very effective hydrophilic corona for <I>in vivo</I> drug delivery.</P>
Automatic Extraction of Lean Tissue for Pork Grading

Purpose: A robust, efficient auto-grading computer vision system for meat carcasses is in high demand by researchers all over the world. In this paper, we discuss our study, in which we developed a system to speed up line processing and provide reliable results for pork grading, comparing the results of our algorithms with visual human subjectivity measurements. Methods: We differentiated fat and lean using an entropic correlation algorithm. We also developed a self-designed robust segmentation algorithm that successfully segmented several porkcut samples; this algorithm can help to eliminate the current issues associated with autothresholding. Results: In this study, we carefully considered the key step of auto- extracting lean tissue. We introduced a self-proposed scheme and implemented it in over 200 pork-cut samples. The accuracy and computation time were acceptable, showing excellent potential for use in online commercial systems. Conclusions: This paper summarizes the main results reported in recent application studies, which include modifying and smoothing the lean area of pork- cut sections of commercial fresh pork by human experts for an auto-grading process. The developed algorithms were implemented in a prototype mobile processing unit, which can be implemented at the pork processing site.

In this paper, we propose a new voltage sensing circuit using sensing opto-coupler and observation opto-coupler for low-priced battery voltage measurement. The proposed topology consists of an opto-coupler for sensing and an opto-coupler for observation, so that an accurate voltage can be detected by constructing an observer. It is confirmed that the rated current for sensing the voltage can be designed to be less than 300uA, which confirms that the power loss can be reduced during high voltage sensing. In addition, since the dielectric strength of the low cost opto-coupler is generally 5,000Vac, it is possible to construct a voltage sensor having an oscillating strength of about 7,000V. The validity of the proposed method was verified by creating a Psim simulation and an actual prototype.

<P>To investigate the role of genetic predisposition in the pathogenesis of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) in relation to obesity, we performed a genome-wide association study of PCOS in Koreans (n=1741). PCOS is a heterogeneous endocrinal disorder of uncertain etiology. Obesity is one of the well-known risk factors for PCOS. Genome-wide association study. Women with or without PCOS. A total of 1881 samples were genotyped using Illumina HumanOmni1 Quad v1 and processed by R packages. The PCOS patients were divided into two subgroups according to PCOS diagnostic criteria (Rotterdam and National Institutes of Health (NIH)). For PCOS-associated loci in the two definitions, we successfully confirmed significant associations of GYS2 for body mass index in the discovery stage. We further replicated pleiotropic associations of GYS2 in a childhood obesity study (n=482) and in a gestational diabetes study (n=1710), respectively. Our study provides a preliminary framework upon diverse genetic effects underlying PCOS in Korean women. A newly identified GYS2 gene as a predisposing factor of PCOS might expand understanding of the biological pathways in metabolic and endocrine regulation.</P>

Diabetic kidney disease (DKD) is the most common cause of end-stage kidney disease. Blood pressure (BP) control can reduce the risks of cardiovascular (CV) morbidity, mortality, and kidney disease progression. Recently, the Kidney Disease: Improving Global Outcomes (KDIGO) guidelines have suggested the implementation of a more intensive BP control with a target systolic BP (SBP) of <120mmHg based on the evidence that the CV benefits obtained is outweighed by the kidney injury risk associated with a lower BP target. However, an extremely low BP level may paradoxically aggravate renal function and CV outcomes. Herein, we aimed to review the existing literature regarding optimal BP control using medications for DKD.
