<P><B>ABSTRACT</B></P><P>PG 1351+489 is one of the 20 DBVs – pulsating helium‐atmosphere white dwarf stars – known and has the simplest power spectrum for this class of star, making it a good candidate to study cooling rates. We report accurate period determinations for the main peak at 489.334 48 s and two other normal modes using data from the Whole Earth Telescope (WET) observations of 1995 and 2009. In 2009, we detected a new pulsation mode and the main pulsation mode exhibited substantial change in its amplitude compared to all previous observations. We were able to estimate the star's rotation period, of 8.9 h, and discuss a possible determination of the rate of period change of (2.0 ± 0.9) × 10<SUP>−13</SUP> s s <SUP>−1</SUP>, the first such estimate for a DBV.</P>
Understanding Arts Management in the US : From Context to Professional Tasks

In this paper, I address the issues of professionalism for arts administration in the United States. I deconstruct the impact of government changes, private foundations involvement and mass communication development in shaping the life of arts organizations. In particular, I analyze how these factors impacted the professional skills of arts organization in area such as education and community program, development, and marketing and communication. Drawing from these findings I suggest guidelines for curriculum development.

Objective: Intramuscular medications are widely used to treat psychomotor agitation (PMA) in uncooperative patients. We evaluated knowledge and attitude towards guidelines and the prescribing patterns in a sample of Italian psychiatrists. Methods: A structured 28-item questionnaire was submitted to psychiatrists of Italian Departments of Mental Health. We considered 8 clinical scenarios of PMA. For comparing two qualitative variables Chi-square tests were performed. Results: One hundred thirty-four psychiatrists completed the survey. The use of a monotherapy is significatively higher (p < 0.05) over a dual therapy in all clinical scenarios except PMA due to Mood Disorder and Psychotic Disorders, whereas the use of a polytherapy is significatively higher (p < 0.05) in PMA due to Mood Disorders and Psychotic Disorders. The use of second-generation antipsychotic (SGAs) as monotherapy over first-generation antipsychotics (FGAs) is significantly higher (p < 0.05) in PMA due to Central Nervous System (CNS) stimulants. The use of SGAs over FGAs in polytherapy is significantly higher (p < 0.05) in PMA due to CNS stimulants. Knowledge of guidelines results 67.1% and significatively higher (p < 0.05) among those who prefer SGAs as monotherapy rather than FGAs in PMA due to Intellectual Disability, CNS depressants and Delirium. Knowledge of guidelines results significatively higher (p < 0.05) among those who prefer SGAs rather than FGAs in polytherapy in PMA due to Mood disorders. Conclusion: This survey reports variation in prescribing patterns for medication used to treat PMA. While SGAs are often prescribed as first choice following the more recent guidelines, FGAs and multi-drug solutions seem to be still a popular solution.
Recurrent <i>ETNK1</i> mutations in atypical chronic myeloid leukemia

<P>Despite the recent identification of recurrent <I>SETBP1</I> mutations in atypical chronic myeloid leukemia (aCML), a complete description of the somatic lesions responsible for the onset of this disorder is still lacking. To find additional somatic abnormalities in aCML, we performed whole-exome sequencing on 15 aCML cases. In 2 cases (13.3%), we identified somatic missense mutations in the <I>ETNK1</I> gene. Targeted resequencing on 515 hematological clonal disorders revealed the presence of <I>ETNK1</I> variants in 6 (8.8%) of 68 aCML and 2 (2.6%) of 77 chronic myelomonocytic leukemia samples. These mutations clustered in a small region of the kinase domain, encoding for H243Y and N244S (1/8 H243Y; 7/8 N244S). They were all heterozygous and present in the dominant clone. The intracellular phosphoethanolamine/phosphocholine ratio was, on average, 5.2-fold lower in ETNK1-mutated samples (<I>P</I> < .05). Similar results were obtained using myeloid TF1 cells transduced with ETNK1 wild type, ETNK1-N244S, and ETNK1-H243Y, where the intracellular phosphoethanolamine/phosphocholine ratio was significantly lower in ETNK1-N244S (0.76 ± 0.07) and ETNK1-H243Y (0.37 ± 0.02) than in ETNK1-WT (1.37 ± 0.32; <I>P</I> = .01 and <I>P</I> = .0008, respectively), suggesting that <I>ETNK1</I> mutations may inhibit the catalytic activity of the enzyme. In summary, our study shows for the first time the evidence of recurrent somatic <I>ETNK1</I> mutations in the context of myeloproliferative/myelodysplastic disorders.</P>
