Objective: This study explored the mechanism of the Kelch-like erythroid cell-derived protein with CNC homology-associated protein 1 (Keap1)-nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) signaling pathway under conditions of zearalenone (ZEA)-induced oxidative stress in the duodenum of post-weaning gilts. Methods: Forty post-weaning gilts were randomly allocated to four groups and fed diets supplemented with 0, 0.5, 1.0, or 1.5 mg/kg ZEA. Results: The results showed significant reductions in the activity of the antioxidant enzymes total superoxide dismutase and glutathione peroxidase and increases the malondialdehyde content with increasing concentrations of dietary ZEA. Immunohistochemical analysis supported these findings by showing a significantly increased expression of Nrf2 and glutathione peroxidase 1 (GPX1) with increasing concentrations of ZEA. The relative mRNA and protein expression of Nrf2, GPX1 increased linearly (p<0.05) and quadratically (p<0.05), which was consistent with the immunohistochemical results. The relative mRNA expression of Keap1 decreased linearly (p<0.05) and quadratically (p<0.05) in the duodenum as the ZEA concentration increased in the diet. The relative mRNA expression of modifier subunit of glutamate-cysteine ligase (GCLM) increased quadratically (p<0.05) in all ZEA treatment groups and the relative mRNA expression of quinone oxidoreductase 1 (NQO1) catalytic subunit of glutamate-cysteine ligase decreased linearly (p<0.05) and quadratically (p<0.05) in the ZEA1.0 group and ZEA1.5 group. The relative protein expression of Keap1 and GCLM decreased quadratically (p<0.05) in the duodenum as the ZEA concentration increased in the diet, respectively. The relative protein expression of NQO1 increased linearly (p<0.05) and quadratically (p<0.05) in all ZEA treatment groups in the duodenum. Conclusion: These findings suggest that ZEA regulates the expression of key factors of the Keap1-Nrf2 signaling pathway in the duodenum, which enables resistance to ZEA-induced oxidative stress. Further studies are needed to examine the effects of ZEA induced oxidative stress on other tissues and organs in post-weaning gilts.

Background and Objective: Histone deacetylase (HDAC) inhibitors represent a promising class of potential anticancer agents for treatment of human malignancies. In this study, we investigated the effect of trichostatin A (TSA), one such HDAC inhibitor, in combination with docetaxel (TXT), a cytotoxic chemotherapy agent or erlotinib, a novel molecular target therapy drug, on lung cancer A549 cells. Methods: A549 cells were treated with TXT, erlotinib alone or in combination with TSA, respectively. Cell viability, apoptosis, and cell cycle distribution were evaluated using MTT (3- (4, 5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl) -2, 5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide) assay, Hochst33258 staining and flow cytometry. Moreover, immunofluorescent staining and Western blot analysis were employed to examine alterations of ${\alpha}$-tubulin, heat shock protein 90 (hsp90), epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), and caspase-3 in response to the different exogenous stimuli. Results: Compared with single-agent treatment, co-treatment of A549 cells with TSA/TXT or TSA/erlotinib synergistically inhibited cell proliferation, induced apoptosis, and caused cell cycle delay at the $G_2/M$ transition. Treatment with TSA/TXT or TSA/erlotinib led to a significant increase of cleaved caspase-3 expression, also resulting in elevated acetylation of ${\alpha}$-tubulin or hsp90 and decreased expression of EGFR, which was negatively associated with the level of acetylated hsp90. Conclusions: Synergistic anti-tumor effects are observed between TXT or erlotinib and TSA on lung cancer cells. Such combinations may provide a more effective strategy for treating human lung cancer.
Improved Cascade Control System for a Class of Unstable Processes with Time Delay
Cheng-qiang Yin,Hong-tao Wang,Qun Sun,Ling Zhao 제어·로봇·시스템학회 2019 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.17 No.1
An improved cascade control scheme is proposed based on modified Smith predictor for controllinga class of unstable processes with time delay. The proposed control structure consist three controllers of whichthe secondary loop has one controller and the primary loop has two controllers. The secondary loop controller isdesigned according to Internal Model Control (IMC) principles. The primary loop set point tracking controller anddisturbance rejection controller are designed using the same procedure based on modified Smith predictor controlstructure. An analytical method on the basis of the Internal Model Control design principle is adopted for the twocontrollers which reduces complexity in design. The two controllers in primary loop are designed as proportional, integral and derivative (PID) controller cascaded with a lead-lag filter. Moreover, suitable values are recommendedfor the three controllers based on extensive simulations. Simulations studies are carried out to demonstrate theeffectiveness of the proposed method.
First report of Bradysia difformis (Diptera: Sciaridae) Damage to Phalaenopsis orchid in China
Qun Xin Han,Dong Mei Cheng,Juan Luo,Cui Zuan Zhou,Qing Sheng Lin,Mei Mei Xiang 한국응용곤충학회 2015 Journal of Asia-Pacific Entomology Vol.18 No.1
Phalaenopsis orchid is among the most valuable ornamental flowering plants in the world. Since visible damage substantially decreases its amenity, limited damage is allowed in its production. An unknown insect species (Diptera: Sciaridae)was found to cause serious damage to the seedling of the Phalaenopsis orchid in greenhouses in Guangdong, China. The insect occurred in high populations in almost all greenhouses that grow Phalaenopsis orchid and the number of sciarid adults trapped on a yellow sticky card could reach as many as 303 in 24 h. An effectivemanagement strategy on any pest requires an accurate identification. Therefore, it is urgent to identify this pest correctly to mitigate its damage to the industry. Damage to Phalaenopsis orchid and morphological characteristics of the pest was described in this study. Molecular analyses based on the 488-bp portion of the mitochondrialDNA fromthe cytochrome oxidase I(mt COI) regionwere conducted to supplementmorphological characteristics in identifying this pest. Bothmorphological characteristics and phylogenetic tree constructedwith mt COI genes identified this sciarid as Bradysia difformis Frey, 1948 (= Bradysia paupera Tuomikoski, 1960) (Diptera: Sciaridae). A literature search indicated that B. difformis has been a common pest of greenhouse and forestry nurseries in Europe and South Africa. Our study is the first record of B. difformis damaging Phalaenopsis orchid in China.

Purpose The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of neutropenia during the first cycle of induction chemotherapy (IC-1) on survival in locoregionally advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma (LANPC). Materials and Methods Eligible patients (n=545) with LANPC receiving IC+concurrent chemoradiotherapy were included. Based on nadir neutrophil after IC-1, all patients were categorized into three groups: no/grade 1-2/grade 3-4 neutropenia. Five-year overall survival (OS) and disease-free survival (DFS) were compared between groups and subgroups stratified by IC regimen. We also explored the occurrence of IC-1–induced myelosuppression events and the minimal value of post-treatment neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (post-NLRmin). Univariate/multivariate analyses were performed to investigate the effect of IC-1–induced neutropenia, timing of neutropenia, number of myelosuppression events, and high post-NLRmin on OS/DFS. Results Grade 1-2/grade 3-4 neutropenia were associated with poorer OS/DFS than no neutropenia (all p < 0.05); OS/DFS were not significantly different between patients experiencing grade 1-2 vs. 3-4 neutropenia. Neutropenia had no significant effect on OS/DFS in patients receiving docetaxel–cisplatin–5-fluorouracil (TPF). Grade 1-2 (grade 3-4) neutropenia negatively influenced OS/DFS in patients receiving cisplatin–5-fluorouracil (PF) (PF and docetaxel– cisplatin [TP]; all p < 0.05). Neutropenia, two/three myelosuppression events, and high post-NLRmin ( 1.33) was most frequent on days 5-10, second and third week of IC-1, respectively. After adjustment for covariates, IC-1–induced neutropenia, two/three myelosuppression events, and post-NLRmin 1.33 were validated as negative predictors of OS/DFS (all p < 0.05); timing of neutropenia had no significant effect. Conclusion Occurrence of neutropenia, number of myelosuppression events, and high post-NLRmin during PF/TP IC-1 have prognostic value for poor survival in LANPC.

Herein, a facile preparation method with characteristics of energy-saving, efficient and environmentallyfriendly is proposed. Firstly, GICs (Graphite Intercalation Compounds) were synthesized by microwaveassisted hydrothermal method using flake graphite (FG) as raw material, H2SO4, and K2S2O8 as oxidativeintercalations by microwave-assisted oxidation for 5 min, and then EG was prepared from obtained GICsby microwave irradiation for 40 s under the microwave power of 800 W, and the effect of different processconditions on EG expansion volume (EV) was studied. The results show that EG with a good expansioncan be rapidly prepared by microwave irradiation, and the EV value can reach 455 mL /g under theoptimal conditions. In particular, the prepared EG has a high graphitization degree with less structuraldamage, exihibiting good industrial application prospects. The mechanism of K2S2O8 oxidation and graphiteexpansion under microwave irradiation was analyzed. In adition, flexible graphite foil papers preparedwith the obtained EG exhibit good electrical conductivity and thermal properties. The as preparedEG material shows an efficient adsorption of hydraulic oil and vegetable oil and excellent flame retardantperformance. This preparation method is green, low cost, and safe, and can be used for the efficient batchpreparation of EG.

Shourui Wang,Cheng-qiang Yin,Jie Gao,Qun Sun 제어·로봇·시스템학회 2020 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.18 No.9
Path tracking control for the autonomous tractor has been receiving increased attention with the rapid development of modern agriculture. Lateral displacement control is essential for the path tracking effect. The objective of this research is to develop a lateral displacement control system to control the lateral position of tractor. Based on the kinematic model, a cascade control scheme for lateral displacement control system was designed. The two feedback loops in the cascade control structure were implemented using the measurements of the Beidoureceiver and gyroscope respectively. The yaw rate controller was designed using IMC-PID technique, and the lateral position controller was devised as a PID form using the method of minimum sensitivity. A set point filter was added in the outer loop to improve the tracking performance. The simulation results demonstrated the efficiency of the proposed control scheme by showing fast response, control accuracy and robust performance for the lateral displacement control system.
