        Oleanolic acid induced autophagic cell death in hepatocellular carcinoma cells via PI3K⁄Akt⁄mTOR and ROS-dependent pathway

        Oleanolic acid (OA) has a wide variety of bioactivities such as hepatoprotective, anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer activity and is used for medicinal purposes in many Asian countries. In the present study, the effect of OA on induction of autophagy in human hepatocellular carcinoma HepG2 and SMC7721 cells and the related mechanisms were investigated. MTT assay showed that OA significantly inhibited HepG2 and SMC7721 cells growth. OA treatment enhanced formation of autophagic vacuoles as revealed by monodansylcadaverine (MDC) staining. At the same time, increasing punctuate distribution of microtubuleassociated protein 1 light chain 3 (LC3) and an increasing ratio of LC3-II to LC3-I werealso triggered by OA incubation. In addition, OA-induced cell death was signifi cantly inhibited by autophagy inhibitors 3-methyladenine (3-MA) and chloroquine (CQ) pretreatment. And we found out that OA can suppress the PI3K/Akt1/mTOR signaling pathway. Furthermore, our data suggested that OA-triggered autophagy was ROSdependent as demonstrated by elevated cellular ROS levels by OA treatment. When ROS was cleared by N-acetylcysteine (NAC), OA-induced LC3-II convertsion and cell death were all reversed. Taken together, our results suggest that OA exerts anticancer eff ect via autophagic cell death in hepatocellular carcinoma.

        Characteristic Model-based Adaptive Control with Genetic Algorithm Estimators for Four-PMSM Synchronization System

        For four-PMSM synchronization systems, the complex structure, nonlinearities and uncertainties make accurate modeling and precise control difficult to realize. This article proposes an easily realized adaptive control scheme for four-PMSM synchronization system. This control scheme combines novel characteristic modeling, genetic algorithm and terminal sliding mode control together. Firstly, the four-PMSM synchronization system is described by characteristic model, which significantly simplifies system’s dynamic model without losing its highorder characteristics. Secondly, a genetic algorithm estimator is newly designed to estimate the real-time value of parameters in characteristic model, which is the key issue in obtaining an accurate system model. Thirdly, an adaptive discrete-time terminal sliding mode controller is proposed based on the characteristic model to enhance system robustness. Also, this controller can eliminate chattering effect when system is reversing. Then, the stability of the closed-loop system is proved by Lyapunov stability theorem. Finally, simulation and experiment results verify the adaptiveness and robustness of the proposed control scheme.

        Characteristic Model-based Adaptive Fault Tolerant Control for Four-motor Synchronization Systems Considering Actuator Failure

        This article proposes a characteristic model-based adaptive fault tolerant control scheme to deal with actuator failure in four-motor synchronization systems, which usually causes sudden inertia ratio change and backlash increase. Firstly, the characteristic modeling method is applied into servo system to obtain a simplified system model without losing high-order features. Also, this model could reflect real-time system status through three characteristic parameters. Secondly, a particle swarm optimization algorithm-based estimator is designed to identify characteristic parameters online. By this way, the characteristic model could react to inertia ratio changes quickly and eliminate its negative effect in signal tracking. Thirdly, an improved adaptive electric anti-backlash method is used to restrain backlash. Compared to regular anti-backlash technique, this adaptive one uses a neural networkbased fault detector to monitor motors and adjust bias current according to different actuator status, even when one motor breaks down. With these three steps combined, a fast terminal sliding mode controller is finally designed as fault tolerant controller and the stability of this closed-loop system is guaranteed by Lyapunov stability theorem. At last, the simulation and experiment results prove the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme in system control and fault tolerance.

        Synthesis of MoSe2/SrTiO3 Heterostructures with Enhanced Ultraviolet-Light-Driven and Visible-Light-Driven Photocatalytic Properties

        In this research, a series of novel MoSe2/SrTiO3 heterostructures were successfully prepared by a two-step hydrothermal method. The samples were characterized by XRD, UV-Vis, SEM, TEM, EDS and XPS. Results showed that the degradation of MO under UV is better than that under the visible light. And, MoSe2 loaded on SrTiO3 under UV irradiation demonstrated a higher catalytic activity. The degradation rate of methyl orange was 99.46% for MoSe2/SrTiO3 under the optimum loading weight (0.1 wt.%). This is mainly because the combination of MoSe2 and SrTiO3 prevents electrons and holes recombination in SrTiO3 and · O2 - appears in the system. In general, MoSe2/SrTiO3 heterostructures have good environmental friendliness for photocatalytic degradation.

        Design and properties analysis of total internal reflection gratings for pulse compressor at 1053 nm

        High-efficiency compression gratings based on total internal reflection (TIR) are promising alternatives of compressor gratings because of their high diffraction efficiency, potential high damage resistant ability,and compact structure. Dependence of the 1 order diffraction efficiencies on grating parameters is analyzed for TE- and TM-polarized incident light of 1053 nm at Littrow angle, which is calculated by using the rigorous coupled-wave analysis. A more intuitional view on the relation is offered through three-dimensional slicing figures instead of two-dimensional ones. The performances of high-efficiency gratings are compared and regarded as criteria for further choices, including spectral bandwidth, angle bandwidth, dispersion, and intensity distribution. For TE- and TM-irradiations, similar spectral bandwidth and angle bandwidth can be achieved by different grating parameters. However, the computer simulation result on the intensity distributions of the two polarized waves shows that such design should be used under the illumination of TE-polarized wave for lower intensity enhancement ratio,which is an important factor related to the gratings’ damage threshold.

        Increased accumulation of anthocyanins in transgenic potato tubers by overexpressing the 3GT gene

        In order to explore a biotechnological method for improving potato tuber color and creating plants with increased anthocyanin contents, a potato UDP-glucose: flavonoid-3-O-glucosyltransferase (3GT) gene was inserted behind the GBSSI promoter of pBin19, and this construct was introduced into Solanum tuberosum L. cultivar De´sire´e plants by Agrobacterium-mediated transformation. Six independent transgenic lines overexpressing the 3GT gene were identified by PCR and Southern blot analysis from 18 kanamycin-resistant plants. Due to the expression of 3GT gene, the tuber color and the anthocyanin content were enhanced noticeably in the transgenic plants compared to the wild-type control plants. This result suggests that the 3GT gene can potentially be used to improve potato color and enhance levels of antioxidants in the diet.
