Calculation method of residual fatigue life of in-service unbonded flexible pipe

As a catenary riser, unbonded flexible pipe (UFP) has the advantages of convenient installation, recyclability, flexibility, anti-corrosion and large design space. To analyze the residual fatigue life of in-service unbonded flexible riser (UFR), a global model of riser is established in this paper. By analyzing the distribution of configuration, tension, bending moment and bending curvature along the riser under static and dynamic loads, the most dangerous position and dynamic response are determined. And then, the residual fatigue life of the UFR is calculated. The calculation results show that the fatigue life of the UFR is greatly affected by the pipe annulus condition, and the dry annulus condition is 4.6 times that of the wet annulus condition. It is concluded that when evaluating the remaining fatigue life of an inservice UFR, the S-N curve of the tensile amour layers must be calculated according to different annular conditions, so that the fatigue life can be accurately obtained. Summarily, this paper provides an effective method for calculating the residual fatigue life of in-service UFRs.

High cutting temperature will lead to a short tool life and a poor machining quality during titanium alloy machining. High efficiency cooling methods are always required to reduce the cutting temperature. In this paper, heat transfer experimental platform was set up and one-dimension heat transfer model was established to get critical heat flux (CHF) used to evaluate the cooling capacity of the cooling methods. The effect of cold mist jet (CMJ) was evaluated by transient heat transfer tests and titanium alloys cutting experiments, comparing with cold air jet, flood cooling and minimum quantity lubricant. The experimental results revealed that CMJ with a high CHF has a stronger cooling capacity than other cooling methods and has greatly reduced the cutting temperature in high-speed cutting of titanium alloys. And tool life and surface quality have been both improved with CMJ. This paper offered a way for evaluating the cooling effects of different cooling methods with heat transfer experiments.
Layout and Sizing Optimization of Discrete Truss Based on Continuum

A new method combined continuum topology with discrete truss is proposed for truss optimization. The optimized material distribution is obtained by means of continuum topology optimization and then transformed into initial truss. Based on the element principal stress and 8-neighborhood elements of continuum, force flow path extraction method is presented to obtain the initial truss layout. For section size optimization, criterion is deduced from a mathematical model by Lagrange multiplier method. Leveraging the free-form nature of continuum, this method can avoid the restriction of traditional ground structure. And it can achieve a better solution with less mass, smaller deformation and more uniform stress.
Chemical Constituents from the Aerial Parts of Aster yomena

Nine terpenoids, spinasterone (1), simiarenol (2), phytol (3), lupeol (4), a-amyrin (5), 1b,4b-dihydroxyeudesman-11-ene (6), 3,7-dihydroxyhumula-4,8(15),10(E)-triene (7), 2,6-dihydroxyhumula-3(12),7(13), 9E-triene (8), 23-hydroxybetulin (9) were isolated from the aerial parts of Aster yomena M. Their structures were identified based on 1D and 2D NMR, including 1H-1H COSY, HSQC, HMBC and NOESY spectroscopic analyses. Compounds 1 - 9 were isolated from this plant for the first time.

The 16S rRNA gene approach was applied to investigate the diversity of Planctomycetes in latitudinal surface seawater of the Western Pacific Ocean. The results revealed that the Pirellula-Rhodopirellula-Blastopirellula clade dominated the Planctomycetes community at all surface seawater sites while the minority genera Gemmata and Planctomyces were only found at sites H5 and H2 respectively. Although the clone frequency of the PRB clade seemed stable (between 83.3% and 94.1%) for all surface seawater sites, the retrieved Pirellula-Rhodopirellula-Blastopirellula clade presented unexpected diversity. Interestingly, low latitude seawater appeared to have higher diversity than mid-latitudes. ∫-LIBSHUFF software analysis revealed significantly different diversity patterns between in latitudinal surface seawater and in the sediment of South China Sea station M2896. Our data suggested that different hydrological and geographic features contributed to the shift of Planctomycetes diversity in marine environments. This is, to our knowledge, the first systematic assessment of Planctomycetes in latitudinal surface seawater of the open sea and the first comparison of diversity pattern between surface seawater and sediments and has broadened our understanding of Planctomycetes diversity in marine environments.

Mannose has recently drawn extensive attention for its substantial anti-cancer activities, but the underlying mechanism remains largely unclear. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of mannose on experimental colitis-associated colorectal tumorigenesis and underlying mechanisms. Data clearly showed that at plasma concentrations achieved after oral administration, mannose slightly affected malignancy of tumor cells or tumor promoter-induced transformation of pre-neoplastic cells, but substantially suppressed manifestation of the M2-like phenotype of tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs) in a cancer cell and macrophage co-culture model. Mechanistically, mannose might greatly impair the production of tumor cell-derived lactate which has a critical role in the functional polarization of TAMs. Importantly, oral administration of mannose protected mice against colitis-associated colorectal tumorigenesis by normalizing TAM polarization. Collectively, these findings highlight the importance of TAMs in colorectal tumorigenesis, and provide a rationale for introducing mannose supplementation to patients suffering from inflammatory bowel diseases
