        Highly selective separation of vanadium over iron from stone coal by oxalic acid leaching

        In this paper, a novel method was proposed to selectively extract vanadium from stone coal by oxalicacid leaching. Vanadium was leached, but the iron impurity wasmaintained in the leaching residue. Theeffects of leaching conditions on the leaching efficiency of vanadium and iron were investigated foroxalic and sulfuric acid leaching, respectively. For oxalic acid leaching, 71.5% of the vanadium can berecovered with only 3.4% of the iron impurity leached under the leaching conditions: a dosage of H+ of12 mol/kg, a leaching time of 6 h, a leaching temperature of 368 K (95 8C) and a water–mineral ratio of1.5 L/kg. However, under the same conditions, 74.1% of the vanadium and 13% of the iron were leachedduring sulfuric acid leaching. The XRD and FTIR analyses showed that both oxalic and sulfuric acidleaching can destroy the crystal lattice structure of muscovite, resulting in the leaching efficiency ofvanadium without much difference. Further, the SEM-EDS and XPS analyses indicated that very littlepyrite dissolved during oxalic acid leaching, but that much more pyrite dissolved during sulfuric acidleaching. Therefore, oxalic acid leaching can achieve a highly selective separation of vanadium over ironfrom stone coal.

        Development and Validation of a Low-Cost and Simple Simulator for Microlaryngeal Surgery

        Objectives. The simulation of microlaryngeal skills is rarely seen in surgical training, but it is particularly important in phonomicrosurgery. This study described and validated the laryngeal surgical simulator through surgical training. Methods. A simple and low-cost simulator was developed for the fixation of the suspension laryngoscope and porcine larynges. Twenty participants with work skills and experience did preparation before training, and performed suture and carbon dioxide (CO2) laser cordectomy for simulator evaluation. The results were proposed by the aspects of time taken for each procedure, the global rating scale, a procedure-specific assessment, and a post-simulation questionnaire. Results. All participants completed the preparation within 9 minutes and reached the conclusion that the microlaryngeal surgical simulator was helpful in improving their surgical skills. The performance of experts was superior to that of novices in both suture and CO2 laser cordectomy. Conclusion. This simulator could be easily assembled and was successfully validated by microlaryngeal surgical training both subjectively and objectively. It may be helpful to clinicians in microlaryngeal skills.

        Redox-active 2D porous organic polymers for high-performance supercapacitor

        Porous organic polymers (POPs) have been received considerable attention due to their advantages oflarge surface areas, good stability and functionalities, which are considered an ideal electrode materialfor the energy storage device that has been developed and applied in lithium batteries, zinc ion batteriesand supercapacitors. Here we describe the synthesis of four kinds of redox-active 2D POPs via solvothermalSchiff base condensation using aniline oligomers with different chain lengths as building units thatexhibit reversible electrochemical processes. Among them, the Tp-AT-POP based on 1,3,5-triformylphloroglucinol (Tp) and aniline trimer (AT) deliver high electrochemical performance mainlycontributed by redox units exhibiting high specific capacitance up to 348.3 F/g at a current density of0.5 A/g and possessing excellent cycling stability of 71% after 5000 cycles. In addition, the Tp-AT-POPis developed to assemble a symmetric supercapacitor with specific capacitances of 167 F/g at 0.3 A/gand good cycling stability. This work provides an efficient strategy for developing the redox-active 2DPOPs with aniline oligomer structure for the next-generation advanced high-performance energy storagedevice.

        Five-axis finishing tool path generation for a mesh blade based on linear morphing cone

        Blisk is an essential component in aero engines. To maintain good aero-dynamic performance, one critical machining requirement for blades on blisk is that the generated five-axis tool path should be boundary-conformed. For a blade discretely modeled as a point cloud or mesh, most existing popular tool path generation methods are unable to meet this requirement. To address this issue, a novel five-axis tool path generation method for a discretized blade on blisk is presented in this paper. An idea called Linear Morphing Cone (LMC) is first proposed, which sets the boundary of the blade as the constraint. Based on this LMC, a CC curve generation and expansion method is then proposed with the specified machining accuracy upheld. Using the proposed tool path generation method, experiments on discretized blades are carried out, whose results show that the generated tool paths are both uniform and boundary-conformed.

        Traceable Ciphertet-Policy Attribute-Based Encryption with Constant Decryption

        We provide a traceable ciphertext-policy attribute based encryption (CP-ABE) construction for monotone access structures (MAS) based on composite order bilinear groups, which is secure adaptively under the standard model. We construct this scheme by making use of an "encoding technique" which represents the MAS by their minimal sets to encrypt the messages. To date, for all traceable CP-ABE schemes, their encryption costs grow linearly with the MAS size, the decryption costs grow linearly with the qualified rows in the span programs. However, in our traceable CP-ABE, the ciphertext is linear with the minimal sets, and decryption needs merely three bilinear pairing computations and two exponent computations, which improves the efficiency extremely and has constant decryption. At last, the detailed security and traceability proof is given.

        An Improved B-Spline Fitting Method with Arc-Length Parameterization, G2-Continuous Blending, and Quality Refinement

        In computer numerical control machining, tool paths are typically represented with piecewise linear segments (GO1s), which lack G1 and G2 continuity and cause fluctuation of feed rate and acceleration. To improve the continuity of tool paths, some method, e.g., B-spline tool path fitting, is preferred. However, none of the currently B-spline fitting method satisfies all tool-path fitting requirements of arc-length parameterization, G2 continuity and smoothness across the whole path. The aim of this research is to derive an industrial-strength method for B-spline tool path fitting, satisfying all of the named requirements. The improvements cover the arc-length based parameterization, G2 continuity as well as numerically measure to improve the quality of B-spline tool paths. To achieve arc-length parameterization, a preliminary fitting is added to evaluate arc-length and guide the parameterization (i.e., knot vector assignment); for joint G2-continuity, a five-control-point B-spline which satisfies chord error and shape-preserving constraints is constructed to blend adjacent B-splines; and a method based on the Hausdorff distance between the fitted B-splines and the original polylines is used to evaluate the fitting quality, and an additional refinement procedure is employed when the evaluation finds any disqualification. Simulation and experiment results prove that the proposed methods are effective.

        Prognostic Threshold of Neuroendocrine Differentiation in Gastric Carcinoma: a Clinicopathological Study of 945 Cases

        Purpose: The significance of neuroendocrine differentiation (NED) in gastric carcinoma (GC) is controversial, leading to ambiguous concepts in traditional classifications. This study aimed to determine the prognostic threshold of meaningful NED in GC and clarify its unclear features in existing classifications. Materials and Methods: Immunohistochemical staining for synaptophysin, chromogranin A, and neural cell adhesion molecule was performed for 945 GC specimens. Survival analysis was performed using the log-rank test and univariate/multivariate models with percentages of NED ($P_{NED}$) and demographic and clinicopathological parameters. Results: In total, 275 (29.1%) cases were immunoreactive to at least 1 neuroendocrine (NE) marker. GC-NED was more common in the upper third of the stomach. $P_{NED}$, and Borrmann's classification and tumor, lymph node, metastasis stages were independent prognostic factors. The cutoff $P_{NED}$ was 10%, beyond which patients had significantly worse outcomes, although the risk did not increase with higher $P_{NED}$. Tumors with ${\geq}10%$ NED tended to manifest as Borrmann type III lesion with mixed/diffuse morphology and poorer histological differentiation; the NE components in this population mainly grew in insulae/nests, which differed from the predominant growth pattern (glandular/acinar) in GC with <10% NED. Conclusions: GC with ${\geq}10%$ NED should be classified as a distinct subtype because of its worse prognosis, and more attention should be paid to the necessity of additional therapeutics for NE components.
