We conducted a study to explore a real-time monitoring variable of a coherently combined beam returned from a scattering target. The effect of a spatial filtering on the speckle pattern generated from the interference of the scattered beam was examined in a coherent beam combining (CBC) system, including three-channel laser output, the scattering target, and receiver optics in free space. We were able to recognize the arrangement of the original beams from the speckle pattern by applying a proper spatial filter with a size of 2 mm. The power-in-the-bucket value in the monitoring system was also investigated as a function of the spatial filter size. Our research implies that a complex speckle pattern can be analyzed using spatial filtering to derive a single-output real-time variable in the CBC monitoring system.
All-fiber Tm-Ho Codoped Laser Operating at 1700 nm

We demonstrate continuous-wave operation of an all-fiber thulium-holmium codoped laser operating at a wavelength of 1706.3 nm. To realize laser operation in the short-wavelength region of the emission-band edge of thulium in silica fiber, we employ fiber Bragg gratings having resonant reflection at a wavelength around 1700 nm as a wavelength-selective mirror in an all-fiber cavity scheme. We first examine the performance of the laser by adjusting the central wavelength of the in-band pump source. Although a pump source possessing a longer wavelength is observed to provide reduced laser threshold power and increased slope efficiency, because of the characteristics of spectral response in the gain fiber, we find that the optimal pump wavelength is 1565 nm to obtain maximum laser output power for a given system. We further explore the properties of the laser by varying the fiber gain length from 1 m to 1.4 m, for the purpose of power scaling. It is revealed that the laser shows optimal performance in terms of output power and slope efficiency at a gain length of 1.3 m, where we obtain a maximum output power of 249 mW for an applied pump power of 2.1 W. A maximum slope efficiency is also estimated to be 23% under these conditions.

Antipsychotics have been widely accepted as a treatment of choice for psychiatric illnesses such as schizophrenia. While atypical antipsychotics such as aripiprazole are not associated with obesity and diabetes, olanzapine is still widely used based on the anticipation that it is more effective in treating severe schizophrenia than aripiprazole, despite its metabolic side effects. To address metabolic problems, metformin is widely prescribed. Hypothalamic proopiomelanocortin (POMC) neurons have been identified as the main regulator of metabolism and energy expenditure. Although the relation between POMC neurons and metabolic disorders is well established, little is known about the effects of olanzapine and metformin on hypothalamic POMC neurons. In the present study, we investigated the effect of olanzapine and metformin on the hypothalamic POMC neurons in female mice. Olanzapine administration for 5 days significantly decreased Pomc mRNA expression, POMC neuron numbers, POMC projections, and induced leptin resistance before the onset of obesity. It was also observed that coadministration of metformin with olanzapine not only increased POMC neuron numbers and projections but also improved the leptin response of POMC neurons in the olanzapine-treated female mice. These findings suggest that olanzapine-induced hypothalamic POMC neuron abnormality and leptin resistance, which can be ameliorated by metformin administration, are the possible causes of subsequent hyperphagia. 실시간 데이터 분석을 위한 컨테이너 기반 가상화 성능에 관한 연구

본 논문은 실시간 데이터 분석을 위한 컨테이너 가상화 기술 사용에 대한 효용성을 알아보기 위해 HDP 와 MapR 배포판에 포함된 Spark 를 도커라이징 전과 후 환경에 설치 후 HiBench 벤치마크 프로그램을 이용해 성능을 측정하였다. 그리고 성능 측정치에 대해 대응표본 t 검정을 이용하여 도커라이징 전과 후의 성능 차이가 있는지를 통계적으로 분석하였다. 분석 결과, HDP 는 도커라이징 전과 후에 대한 성능 차이가 있었지만 MapR 은 성능 차이가 없었다.
