We report an inspiring case of a 55-year-old Korean female diagnosed with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19)-associated acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) in Mexico. The patient was assessed for lung transplant as a salvage therapy for treatment-refractory ARDS following no signs of clinical improvement for > 7 weeks, despite best treatment. The patient was transported from Mexico to Korea by air ambulance under venovenous extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) support. She was successfully bridged to lung transplant on day 88, 49 days after the initiation of ECMO support. ECMO was successfully weaned at the end of operation, and no bleeding or primary graft dysfunction was observed within the first 72 hours. The patient was liberated from mechanical ventilation on postoperative day 9 and transferred to the general ward 5 days later. Despite the high doses of immunosuppressants, there was no evidence of viral reactivation after transplant. At 3 months post-transplantation, she was discharged to home without complication. Our experience suggests that successful lung transplant for COVID-19-associated ARDS is feasible even in a patient with prolonged pre-transplant ECMO support. Lung transplant may be considered a salvage therapy for COVID-19-associated ARDS that does not respond to conventional treatments.
The Role of Substituents of ar-Turmerone for its Anticancer Activity

For the evaluation of the role of substituents of ar-turmerone for its anticancer activity, ar-turmerone (1a) and its analogs like 2-methyl-6-(4'-methyphenyl)-2-octen-4-one (1b), 2-methyl-6-phenyl-2-hepten-4-one (1c), 2-methyl-6-phenyl-2-octen-4-one (1d) and 2 methyl-6-(trans-4'-methylcyclohexyl)-2-hepten-4-one (1e) were preparedd and their cytotoxic activities against $L_{1210}$ cell were determined. Omission of methyl group at para-position dose not variate the cytotoxicity of ar-turmerone. Elongation of alkyl group at 6-position decreases $ED_{50}$ value. Saturation of aromatic ring of ar-turmerone markedly decreases the cytotoxicity. Therefore the smaller size of alkyl group at 6-position and aromatic ring of ar-turmerone should be essential for exhibiting its anticancer activity.
Geometric Transformation Invariant Fast Image Identifier

Image identifier can be used in finding original images from the large database of geometrically transformed images. In this paper, geometric transformation invariant fast image identifier is introduced. Proposed identifier consists of three different features. Used features are color feature, texture feature by Modified Generalized Symmetry Transform and angular partitioning feature. Each feature is quantized adaptively to compose three-dimensional histogram. For fast matching, pre-screening with bit-stream is used. Experimental results show that the proposed image identifier has good performance under various geometric transformations. And because of its fast matching, the proposed image identifier is very useful in real environment.
Fabrication of SOI p-MOSFET with a 35-nm Gate Length by Using PBF-SPD Process

We developed a novel shallow junction formation technique for SOI p-MOSFET application. A poly boron lm (PBF) was used as the diusion source for a solid phase diusion (SPD) process. Rapid thermal annealing (RTA) was utilized to diuse the boron from the PBF source. With the advantages of the SPD technique, an extremely shallow p+-n junction less than 10 nm in depth was formed and the p+-n-n+ diodes showed excellent junction properties. Based on optimized device fabrication processes, SOI p-MOSFETs with a gate length of 35 nm were successfully fabricated and revealed good electrical characteristics and superior device scalability.

<P>In this study, we demonstrate a viable and promising optical engineering technique enabling the development of high-performance plasmonic organic photovoltaic devices. Laser interference lithography was explored to fabricate metal nanodot (MND) arrays with elaborately controlled dot size as well as periodicity, allowing spectral overlap between the absorption range of the active layers and the surface plasmon band of MND arrays. MND arrays with,-,91 nm dot size and similar to 202 nm periodicity embedded in a poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrenesulfonate) hole transport layer remarkably enhanced the average power conversion efficiency (PCE) from 7.52% up 10.11%, representing one the highest PCE and degree of enhancement (similar to 34.4%) levels compared to the pristine device among plasmonic organic photovoltaics reported to date. The plasmonic enhancement mechanism was investigated by both optical and electrical analyses using finite difference time domain simulation and conductive atomic force microscopy studies.</P>

In this study, we used activated carbon (AC) and charcoal (CH) as carbon sources with $TiO_2$ powder to prepare spherical carbons containing titania (SCCT) by using phenolic resin (PR) as a bonding agent. The physicochemical characteristics of the SCCT samples were examined by BET, XRD, SEM, EDX, iodine adsorption and compressive strength. The photocatalytic activity was evaluated by measuring the removal efficiency of three kinds of organic dyes: methylene blue (MB), methyl orange (MO) and rhodamine B (Rh.B) under a UV/SCCT system. In addition, evaluation of chemical oxygen demand (COD) of piggery waste was done at regular intervals and gave a good idea about the mineralization of wastewater.

In the conventional casting and forging method, there is a disadvantage that a mold is an essential addition, and a production cost is increased when a small quantity is produced. In order to overcome this disadvantage, a metal 3D printing production method capable of directly forming a shape without a mold frame is mainly used. In particular, overseas research has been conducted on various materials, one of which is a metal printer. Similarly, domestic companies are also concentrating on the metal printer market. However, In this case of the conventional metal 3D printing method, it is difficult to meet the needs of the industry because of the high cost of materials, equipment and maintenance for product strength and production. To compensate for these weaknesses, printers have been developed that can be manufactured using sand mold, but they are not accessible to the printer company and are expensive to machine. Therefore, it is necessary to supply three-dimensional casting printers capable of metal molding by producing molds instead of conventional metal 3D printing methods. In this study, we intend to reduce the unit price by replacing the printing method used in the sand casting printer with the FDM method. In addition, Ag paste is used to design the output conditions and enable ceramic printing.
