Natural history of the trapdoor spider Idiops joida Gupta et al 2013 (Araneae: Idiopidae) from the Western Ghats in India

        Neha Gupta,Sanjay Keshari Das,Manju Siliwal 국립중앙과학관 2015 Journal of Asia-Pacific Biodiversity Vol.8 No.1

We studied the habitat preferences and burrow characteristics of trapdoor spiders, Idiops joida Gupta et al 2013, within Dandeli Wildlife Sanctuary and nearby reserve forests of Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka, Western Ghats, India, from January 2010 to April 2010. We sampled 293 plots using 5 m2 quadrats, randomly placed in six habitat types at four localities. Spiders showed patchy distribution throughout the study area. The density of I. joida was highest in uncanopied habitats having sparse vegetation or bare grounds. Steep slopes were strongly preferred by spiders. Burrow characteristics of I. joida, such as burrow diameter, depth, and lid thickness, were independent of habitat type.

Quantum Modeling of Nanoscale Symmetric Double-Gate InAIAs/InGaAs/InP HEMT

Neha Verma,Mridula Gupta,R.S. Gupta,Jyotika Jogi 대한전자공학회 2013 Journal of semiconductor technology and science Vol.13 No.4

The aim of this work is to investigate and study the quantum effects in the modeling of nanosclae symmetric double-gate InAIAs/InGaAs/InP HEMT (High Electron Mobility Transistor). In order to do so, the carrier concentration in InGaAs channel at gate lengths (Lg 100 ㎚ and 50㎚, are modelled by a density gradient model or quantum moments model. The simulated results obtained from the quantum moments model are compared with the available experimental results to show the accuracy and also with a semi-classical model to show the need for quantum modeling. Quantum modeling shows major variation in electron concentration profiles and affects the device characteristics. The tow triangular quantum wells predicted by the semi-classical model seem to vanish in the quantum model as bulk inversion takes place. The quantum effects thus become essential to incorporate in nanosclae heterostructure device modeling.

      • Slide Session : OS-ONC-10 ; Oncology : Prevention of Chemotherapy Induced Nausea and Vomiting (CINV) with Use of Aprepitant Combination Regimens (ACR): Meta Analysis in Adult Cancer Patients

( Neha Gupta ),( Hassan Hatoum ),( Omar Al Ustwani ),( Pongwut Danchaivijitr ),( Katy Wang ),( Roberto Pili ) 대한내과학회 2014 대한내과학회 추계학술발표논문집 Vol.2014 No.1

Background: Various randomized controlled trials (RCTs) have shown improved outcomes with addition of aprepitant to standard antiemetic treatment (SAT) in preventing CINV. We conducted a meta analysis to study the overall impact of ACR in CINV prevention in adults. Methods: We searched Pubmed and Ovid databases, and American Society of Clinical Oncology meetings abstracts for RCTs using ACR with SAT for CINV prevention in adult cancer patients. Major study end points were complete response to treatment (CR; defi ned as no emesis and no use of rescue medications) in overall phase (OP; 0- 120 hours of chemotherapy), acute phase (AP; 0 -24 hours) and delayed phase (DP; 24 - 120 hours). Additionally, we assessed the control of nausea and toxicity profi le (TP). Stouffer`s Z -score method was used to calculate the overall effect. Results: 16 RCTs (5,547 patients) were included. 11 trials (3,314 patients) involved highly emetogenic chemotherapy (HEC) and 5 trials (2,233 patients) involved moderately emetogenic chemotherapy (MEC). ACR increased CR in OP from 47% to 63% (OR=0.52, CI=0.46 to 0.58; p<0.001), in AP from 73% to 81% (p<0.01), and in DP from 51% to 66% (p<0.001). Signifi cant increase in nausea control was seen in DP (p=0.03) but not in OP or AP. Incidence of various toxicities was statistically similar in both groups except slightly higher rate of fatigue (p=0.02) and hiccups (p<0.001), and lower rate of neutropenia (p=0.02) in ACR. Conclusions: ACR is effective in CINV due to both HEC and MEC in adult cancer patients. ACR improves the control of emesis in all phases, and nausea in delayed phase only. With the exception of causing more fatigue & hiccups, and lesser neutropenia, overall TP of ACR is similar to SAT.

      • Analysis of Various Cryptography Techniques : A Survey

Neha Tayal,Ritesh Bansal,Shailender Gupta,Sangeeta Dhall 보안공학연구지원센터 2016 International Journal of Security and Its Applicat Vol.10 No.8

Maintaining the confidentiality of data during communication has always been a prime concern of many researchers. Several encryption mechanisms have been developed in order to protect the secret data from the access of unauthorized users. Encryption can be thought of as a set of instruction used for conversion of data from a readable state to nonsense form. An encryption scheme is said to be effective if it provides high security, low computational time and high brute force search time for hackers. This paper is an effort to compare all the text based encryption schemes mentioned in literature. These schemes are implemented in MATLAB-2010 and their efficacy is compared based on various performance metrics such as time complexity, Correlation, Key sensitivity analysis, Differential attack analysis and Entropy. These results can be fruitful for researchers working in this direction.

Elucidating iron doping induced n- to p- characteristics of Strontium titanate based ethanol sensors

        Neha Sarin,Monu Mishra,Govind Gupta,Ivan P. Parkin,Vandna Luthra 한국물리학회 2018 Current Applied Physics Vol.18 No.2

A series of pure and iron doped strontium titanate, (SrFexTi1-xO3; x = 0, 0.1 and 0.2) powders were synthesized, characterized and used to fabricate ethanol sensors for low concentration. X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) technique was used to confirm the single phase formation. Microstructural properties of the powders were investigated using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Electrical conductivity of all the samples at room temperature (RT) was measured. Sensors were optimized for best responsiveness by varying the operating temperature from 350 °C to 500 °C.The sensor with doping x = 0.2 exhibited best sensing response at 400 °C for ethanol gas. The undoped sensor demonstrated a decrease in resistance on exposure to ethanol gas whereas Fe-doped sensors showed increase in resistance. The doping induced changeover from n to p behavior in the sensing response on doping has been investigated and corroborated with an observed shift in the Fermi level position by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The disparity in gas sensing response clearly demonstrates inter-connection of multiple influencing factors such as electrical conductivity, morphology, porosity and change in chemical composition on doping. The sensors were exposed to ethanol, nitrogen dioxide, carbon monoxide, butane gases at concentration between 5 ppm and 50 ppm. The sensor exhibited much reduced relative response to all gases other than ethanol which can be utilized for wide range of applications.

Dahiya, Neha,Acharya, Anita S,Bachani, Damodar,Sharma, DN,Gupta, Subhash,Haresh, KP,Rath, GK Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2016 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.17 No.7

Background: Cervical cancer is the most frequently diagnosed cancer among women in India. Understanding quality of life (QOL) in women undergoing chemo-radiotherapy for cervical cancer will help in introducing interventions for better care and outcomes in these women. This study assessed QOL before and after chemo-radiotherapy in cervical cancer patients. Materials and Methods: This follow-up study covered sixty-seven newly diagnosed women with advanced cervical cancer (stages 2b to 4b). Structured questionnaires (the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer, EORTC QLQ-C30 and EORTC QLQ-CX24) were used to assess the change in QOL after 6 months of treatment. Results: The mean age of women at the time of detection of cervical cancer was $52.3{\pm}11.29$ years (Range 30-75 years). Six months survival was 92.53%. The mean global health score of cervical cancer patients after six months of treatment was 59.52, which was significantly higher than the pre-treatment score of 50.15 (p=0.00007). Physical, cognitive and emotional functioning improved significantly (p<0.05) after treatment. Fatigue, pain, insomnia and appetite loss improved but episodes of diarrhea increased after treatment. The mean "symptoms score" using EORTC QLQ-CX24 post treatment was 20.0 which was significantly lower as compared to the pre- treatment score 30.0 (p<0.00001). Sexual enjoyment and sexual functioning decreased significantly after treatment. Conclusions: QOL of newly diagnosed cervical cancer patients improved significantly following chemo-radio therapy. Enhancement was also demonstrated on three of the five functional scales of EORTC QLQ-C30. To further improve QOL, interventions focusing on social and psychological support and physical rehabilitation may be needed.
