IP Network Performance in Mobile Environments over Ku Band Satellite Links

We have proposed a mobile multimedia satellite communication system designed to realize high-speed multimedia communications. This system uses a mobile network for the return link and the newly developed tracking antenna that receives high-speed satellite signals for the forward link. This paper describes IP network performance evaluation results of the proposed system in mobile environments. First, we measured round trip time and TCP throughput and confirmed the coincidence between experimental and theoretical TCP throughput that can be obtained from round trip time and TCP window size. Then, in order to make throughput recovered right after a shadowing environment caused by buildings, trees, etc. in which the tracking antenna can not receive satellite signals, the XTP (Xpress Transfer Protocol), which is designed to boost throughput for long latency networks, was incorporated into the proposed system and throughput tests were carried out. We confirmed that the throughput was improved and almost reached the network limit by the tests. We also clarified that the XTP is effective even in a low network quality that includes shadowing environments.

Background: It is a well-known fact that the prevalence of malignancy increases year by year. In addition, other malignancies may be found in the systemic screening before treatment or after several therapy during observation. Malignant lymphoma is often the most number of patients. We reviewed the complication with lung cancer that was a poor prognosis. We look for possibility of the prognosis improvement by determining a characteristic. Methods: In 290 cases multiple cancer including hematological malignancy in our department, we examined 20 cases that including lung cancer & malignant lymphoma. Reviewed the following is gender, age, outbreak style, strategy of therapy, clinical income, and overall survival. Diagnostic criteria of multiple cancer is according to Warren&Gates. It was distinguish synchronous and metachronous that synchronous double cancer diagnosed interval of 6 months. Results: The subjects were 20 patients, median age was 70 years. Synchronous cancer was found in 5 patients and metachronous in 15 patients. Malignant lymphoma was non-Hodgkin`s lymphoma in 11 patients, Hodgkin`s lymphomain 2 patients and lymphoma- stage mycosis fungoides in 1patient. Acute myelogeneous leukemia 3 cases, myelodysplastic syndrome 3 cases. All of the patients with ML underwent chemotherapy (CTx) and 8 and 4 of them achieved completeand partial remission, respectively, while 2cases had progressive disease. In 20 cases with LC, operation (Ope) alone was conducted in 6 cases, Ope+ adjuvant therapy in 3 cases, radiation therapy (RTx) in 1case, RTx + CTx in 1case, and CTx alone in 7 cases, non therapy 2 cases. The median survival was 11 months. Conclusions: For metachronous type, there is chance to fi nd second cancer, if they observed long time. I think that we must understand he has or will have another cancer. Prognosis improvement of the advanced lung cancer is expected.
HIGH TEMPERATURE OXIDATION OF NB-CONTAINING ZR ALLOY CLADDING IN LOCA CONDITIONS

In order to evaluate high-temperature oxidation behavior of the advanced alloy cladding under LOCA conditions, isothermal oxidation tests in steam were performed with cladding specimens prepared from high burnup PWR fuel rods that were irradiated up to 79 MWd/kg. Cladding materials were $M5^{(R)}$ and $ZIRLO^{TM}$, which are Nb-containing alloys. Ring-shaped specimens were isothermally oxidized in flowing steam at temperatures from 1173 to 1473 K for the duration between 120 and 4000s. Oxidation rates were evaluated from measured oxide layer thickness and weight gain. A protective effect of the preformed corrosion layer is seen for the shorter time range at the lower temperatures. The influence of pre-hydriding is not significant for the examined range. Alloy composition change generally has small influence on oxidation in the examined temperature range, though $M5^{(R)}$ shows an obviously smaller oxidation constant at 1273 K. Consequently, the oxidation rates of the high burnup $M5^{(R)}$ and $ZIRLO^{TM}$ cladding are comparable or lower than that of unirradiated Zircaloy-4 cladding.
