Cross-domain event information sharing is a topic of great interest in the area of event based network management. In this work we use data sets which represent actual attacks in the operational Internet. We analyze the data sets to understand the dynamics of the attacks and then go onto show the effectiveness of sharing incident related information to contain these attacks. We describe universal data acquisition system for event based management (UniDAS), a novel system for secure and automated cross-domain event information sharing. The system uses a generic, structured data format based on a standardized incident object description and exchange format (IODEF). IODEF is an XML-based extensible data format for security incident information exchange. We propose a simple and effective security model for IODEF and apply it to the secure and automated generic event information sharing system UniDAS. We present the system we have developed and evaluate its effectiveness.

In this study, we investigated apoptotic cell death induced by photodynamic therapy using 5-aminolaevulinic acid (ALA-PDT) in human promyelocytic leukemia cells (HL-60). ALA-PDT induced apoptosis in HL-60 cells as confirmed by DNA agarose gel electrophoresis and nuclear staining with Hoechst 33342. The apoptotic cell death was inhibited by addition of broad-spectrum caspase inhibitor Z-Asp-CH$_2$-DCB, indicating that the apoptotic cell death was induced in a caspase-dependent manner. Actually, western blotting analysis revealed that caspase-3 was processed as early as 1.5 h after ALA-PDT. Cytoplasmic cytochrome c released from mitochondria was detected by western blotting. However, inhibitor of caspase-9, a cysteine protease located in the downstream of cytochrome c release, was not able to reduce the apoptotic cell death. Therefore, the mitochondrial apoptotic pathway was not involved in the ALA-PDT-induced apoptosis. On the other hand, it was found that ALA-PDT-induced apoptosis was clearly inhibited by pretreatment of caspase-8 inhibitor. These data suggest that caspase-8-mediated apoptotic pathway is important in ALA-PDT-induced cell death.

<P>The Jinju (H5) meteorite fell as four fragments in the Jinju area, Gyeonsangnam-do, South Korea, on March 9, 2014. The major element concentrations and noble gas isotopic compositions were determined for Jinju-1 and Jinju-2, stones of the first and second discoveries, respectively, by using X-ray fluorescence (XRF) analysis and noble gas mass spectrometry combined with total melting and stepwise heating noble gas extraction. The major element composition agrees well with that of equilibrated H chondrites. Very low contamination from terrestrial atmospheric noble gases was detected, which may be attributed to the rapid recovery of the stones within two days after the fall of the Jinju meteorite. A short cosmic ray exposure age of 2.4 My was obtained. The (U, Th)-He, and K-Ar ages are concordant at ca. 4.0 Gy, which suggests that no severe heating event occurred to cause a loss of He after the resetting at 4.0 Gy. Overabundances of trapped Ar and Kr, which were released at 800 degrees C, were found in addition to 'normal' Q gas of Ar, Kr and Xe at >= 1400 degrees C. The low-temperature component could be explained by Ar and Kr supplied by an adjacent impact region that were trapped when the minerals of the Jinju meteorite were formed during cooling. The heavy shock event that occurred at 4.0 Gy might have produced the observed numerous vugs and vapor growth crystals in this meteorite (Choi et al., 2015) and could have supplied the Ar and Kr to thermally weak minerals.</P>

We have examined the influence of antisense oligo deoxynucleotide (ODN) of IGFBP-2 on tissue IGFBP-2 gene expression in chicks. Antisense IGFBP-2 ODN was directly injected into the liver or cerebroventricle. Control birds were injected with vehicle. The hepatic IGFBP-2 gene expression was decreased to approximately 30% of the control at 2 h after injection of antisense ODN. In the brain of chickens injected with antisense ODN, IGFBP-2 mRNA level did not change after 2 h of injection and decreased to approximately 60% of the control after 6 h of injection. These results showed that the expression of IGFBP-2 gene in the liver and brain was successfully suppressed by administrating antisense ODN and that hepatic IGFBP-2 gene expression was quickly suppressed by antisense ODN compared with the brain.

The effect of dietary fatty acid supplementation on milk production, milk composition and plasma constituents in dairy cows was examined. Dietary fatty acids including mainly palmitic acid and stearic acid were given to cows from 2 weeks before and 8 weeks after parturition. Weekly gain of daily milk production was increased gradually during early lactation period and reached a plateau at 4 weeks after parturition. Weekly gain of daily milk production in lactating cows received dietary fatty acids was significantly higher than that of cows given a control diet alone. Although milk lactose concentration was slightly decreased by dietary fatty acid supplementation, milk fat and protein were not significantly influenced by dietary fatty acid supplementation. Dietary fatty acids did not affect plasma concentrations of triglyceride, non-esterified fatty acids, total cholesterol, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol and glucose during postpartum. It is suggested that dietary fatty acid supplementation has the potency to enhance energy balance and improve milk yield without any adverse effects on milk composition.

Recently, visual screening based on CT images become useful tools in the medical fields. However, due to the large number of images and the complexity of the image processing algorithms, image processing technique for the high screening quality is still required. To overcome this problem, some computer aided diagnosis (CAD) algorithms are proposed. Cancer is a leading cause of death both in Japan and worldwide. Detection of cancer region in CT images is the most important task to early detection and early treatment. We have designed and developed a framework combining machine learning based on multi-phase convolutional neural networks (CNN) and temporal subtraction techniques based on non-rigid image registration algorithm. Our main classification method can be built into three main steps; i) preprocessing for image segmentation, ii) image matching for registration, and iii) classification of abnormal regions based on machine learning algorithms. We performed our proposed technique to 25 thoracic MDCT sets and obtained true positive rates of 93.55%, false positive rates of 10.93 /case.
