Creak noise is kind of scratching noise which is usually generated in drum brake system on the vehicle. When driver brakes vehicle or applies parking lever, drum brake shoe moves to the drum side to stop the vehicle. And at that time, moving shoe scratches backing plate ledge surface, and that makes scratching noise in special condition. This study presents how we can generate creak noise in the laboratory and how we can reduce it by experimental approach. Through several and various type of tests, we could generate creak noise with damage on ledge area of the backing plate in the lab and we verified tab type shoe design can reduce this scratching noise. As a result of this study, we notified how creak noise happens in the vehicle, and that tab type design shoe has good performance of ledge area damage based on lab test(rig & dynamometer equipment), and that this can reduce potential risk of creak noise in the field.
The Effect of Everyday Creativity and Communication Ability on Self-Leadership in Nursing Students

Aim(s): Recently, as the importance of providing medical information to patients and guaranteeing their rights is emphasized, autonomous leadership development of medical staff is emphasized in providing quality medical services. In particular, daily creativity and appropriate and efficient communication skills, which are concepts that improve self-actualization and adaptability in new and unique ways, are identified as factors that can develop self-leadership. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of everyday creativity and communication ability to self-leadership of nursing students. Method(s): The study conducted 157 nursing students in the first and third grades who agree with study participation. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire from August to October 2020. SPSS/WIN 25.0 program was used to conduct statistical analyses, including descriptive statistics, an independent t-test, a one-way analysis of variance, and stepwise multiple linear regression. Result(s): Self-leadership based on general characteristics showed statistically significant differences in grade, economic level, and way of living. Also everyday creativity and communication skills showed statistically significant differences in gender. Self-leadership of nursing students showed that statistically significant positive correlations in the order of everyday creativity (r=.881, p<.01), communication ability (r=.829, p<.01). Stepwise multiple linear regression demonstrated that everyday creativity explained 59.0% of the variance in self-leadership. Conclusion(s): Through this study, positive correlation was confirmed between self-leadership, everyday creativity, and communication ability of nursing students, and it was found that everyday creativity has the greatest influence on self-leadership. Therefore, it suggests that further research is needed on the development and effectiveness of self-leadership programs that can improve everyday creativity and communication skills of nursing students.
감초 신품종과 약전 수재 감초 추출물의 항산화 활성 및 암세포 독성 비교 연구

Objectives : The Glycyrrhiza new varieties, WONGAM and SINWONGAM, were developed through interspecific cross between Glycyrrhiza glabra and Glycyrrhiza uralensis by the National Institute of Horticultural and Herbal Science, Rural Development Administration in Korea. This in vitro study was undertaken to compare the antioxidant and cytotoxic effects between Glycyrrhiza new varieties (WONGAM and SINWONGAM) and official compendia (Glycyrrhiza glabra and Glycyrrhiza uralensis ). Methods : Antioxidant activity was determined by DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhy drazyl), ABTS (2,2-azino-bis (3-rthylbenz-thiazoline-6-sulfonic acid)) diammonium salt, Nitrite radical scavenging assay, and Reducing Power assay. Cytotoxicity was determined by MTT assay and cell morphology was observed by an inverted microscope. Results : The DPPH, ABTS, Nitrite radical scavenging activities and reducing power of Glycyrrhiza glabra, Glycyrrhiza uralensis, WONGAM, and SINWONGAM were evaluated at different concentrations (0, 10, 50, 100, 500, 1000 ㎍/㎖). Glycyrrhiza glabra , Glycyrrhiza uralensis , WONGAM, and SINWONGAM showed similar dose-dependent increase in antioxidant activities. The cytotoxic effects with increasing doses of Glycyrrhiza new varieties and official compendia did not differ in HCT116, HT29, A549, MDA-MB231, PC3, ACHN, and HeLa cells. However, significant difference in cytotoxicity were observed in AGS, MCF7 and Hep3B cells by Glycyrrhiza glabra , Glycyrrhiza uralensis , WONGAM, and SINWONGAM. Conclusions : These results showed that Glycyrrhiza new varieties and official compendia acts as a potent antioxidant. Also, the finding that equivalent cytotoxic potency was observed in a cell dependent manner. Our study suggests that Glycyrrhiza new varieties may offer a wide-variety of health benefits.

Light trapping techniques can change the propagation direction of incident light and keep the light longer in the absorption layers of solar cells to enhance the power conversion efficiency. In thin film silicon (Si) solar cells, the thickness of absorption layer is generally not enough to absorb entire available photons because of short carrier life time, and light induced degradation effect, which can be compensated by the light trapping techniques. These techniques have been adopted as textured transparent conduction oxide (TCO) layers randomly or periodically textured, intermediate reflection layers of tandem and triple junction, and glass substrates etched by various patterning methods. We reviewed the light trapping techniques for thin film Si solar cells and mainly focused on the commercially available techniques applicable to textured TCO on patterned glass substrates. We described the characterization methods representing the light trapping effects, texturing of TCO and showed the results of multi-scale textured TCO on etched glass substrates. These methods can be used tandem and triple thin film Si solar cells to enhance photo-current and power conversion efficiency of long term stability.
H.264 동영상 압축을 위한 부 화소 단위에서의 고속 움직임 추정 방법

움직임 추정은 H.264의 비디오 코딩 과정에서 가장 많은 연산량을 차지하는 중요한 처리과정이다. 움직임 추정 과정에서 정수배 화소 단위에서의 탐색에 비하여, 1/2 화소 (half-pixel)와 1/4 화소 (quarter-pixel) 단위까지의 움직임 추정은 영상압축률을 높일 수 있지만, 계산의 복잡도가 늘어나는 문제가 있다. 본 논문에서는 각 블록간의 절대 오차 값인 SAD (Sum of Absolute Difference)가 최소 점을 기준으로 포물선 모양의 분포를 나타내는 특성 및 1/2 단위와 1/4 단위의 화소 보간 특성을 이용하여 움직임 추정 과정에서 탐색 점을 줄임으로써 처리속도를 증가시키고, 계산의 복잡도를 줄이는 알고리듬을 제안하였다. 제안한 방법에서는, 정수 화소 단위에서의 가장 작은 SAD를 갖는 점을 기준으로 주위 8점 가운데 두 번째로 SAD가 작은 점을 찾아 해당 방향으로 1/2 화소 단위의 움직임 추정을 행하였고, 1/4 화소 단위에서도 1/2 화소단위에서 두 번째로 SAD가 작은 점 방향으로 움직임 추정을 실행하였다. 그 결과 기존 알고리듬에 비해 비교적 화질에 변화가 없고, 인코더 처리과정 에서 약 20%의 빠른 속도로 처리하는 결과를 보였다. Motion Estimation (ME) is an important part of video coding process and it takes the largest amount of computation in video compression. Half-pixel and quarter-pixel motion estimation can improve the video compression rate at the cost of higher computational complexity. In this paper, we suggest a new efficient low-complexity algorithm for half-pixel and quarter pixel motion estimation. It is based on the experimental results that the sum of absolute differences(SAD) shows parabolic shape and thus can be approximated by using interpolation techniques. The sub-pixel motion vector is searched from the minimum SAD integer-pixel motion vector. The sub-pixel search direction is determined toward the neighboring pixel with the lowest SAD among 8 neighbors. Experimental results show that more than 20% reduction in computation time can be achieved without affecting the quality of video.

This study examines whether engine fuel efficiency is improved by optimization of the exhaust valve timing in a state where the intake valve timing has been optimized in a small turbo gasoline engine that has intake cams and exhaust cams with fixed valve opening periods. When the exhaust valve is opened late, the expansion stroke is longer, and the efficiency can be improved. A 2-cylinder turbo gasoline engine with 0.8 liters of displacement and an MPI (Multi Point Injection) fuel system was used. The engine was operated at 1,500 and 3,000 rpm, and the load conditions included a partial load of 50 N·m and a high load of 70 N·m. Data was recorded as the exhaust valve timing was controlled, and this was used to calculate the efficiency of combustion using a heat release, the fuel conversion efficiency, and the pumping loss. Results and the hydrocarbon concentrations in the exhaust gas were compared for each condition. Experiment results confirmed that additional fuel efficiency improvements are possible through exhaust valve timing control at 1,500 rpm and 50 N·m. However, in other operating conditions, fuel efficiency improvements could not be obtained through exhaust valve timing control because cases where the pumping loss and fuel/air mixture slip increased when the exhaust valve timing changed and the fuel efficiency declined.
