In the American literary tradition the black poets have often been neglected. Fortunately, since the 1920s of the Halem Renaissance they have tried to recover their own identity with using not only the dialects and the songs of black people but also the tribal themes in their poems. And also owing to the trends of the post-modernism of today their works have attracted the modern scholars and readers along with the excluded ethnic and the feminine literature. This study is one of such efforts to pay attention to the neglected Afro-American works and to pursue the religious maturity of the black people described in the poems of Maya Anjelou. Maya Angelou, a black woman autobiographer and poet was grown up under the care of her devout grandmother, who planted in her heart a religious vision to be a famous preacher at the time of having been raped and mute. And from her tribal ancestors she has learned a christian truth and wisdom that to endure and submit to the hardships under the oppression of the whites with laughing and singing would make them survive in this life and win a final victory in the future. Personally she wants to be a "rainbow", that is, a hope in the clouds of the defeated neighbors. Her Christian maturity enables her to forgive the American whites and embrace them as Christian brothers and sisters. Her poems describe how she and her black ancestors could have survived through the horrible trials in America only enduring and serving the whites. Her own poem, "On the Pulse of Morning", which she read at the inauguration of American President, W. J. Clinton in 1993 shows her mature faith by appealing to the world to live together as good neighbors in this world. And she suggests it could be realized by living on the "Rock" of God's protection and by the river of God's Words.

차량용 배기계의 맥동압력으로 인한 도출음과 방사음에 관한 실험적 연구

In exhaust system, internal pulsating pressure and shell vibration greatly affect the exhaust noise and the (surface) radiated noise. This noise is emitted from the tailpipe outlet and the muffler outer wall due to the pulsation of the exhaust gas pressure. This paper describes and analytical study of these characteristics as influenced by exhaust system structure. An exhaust system simulator was used for generating the pressure pulsation. The relationship between pulsating pressure and shell vibration was analyzed. The relationship between the exhaust noise and surface radiated noised was also analyzed.

척수손상 환자의 합병증

To evaluate the rehabilitative care needs of the patients with spinal cord injury in this regional area, the complications which were seen in the department of rehabilitation medicine in Chungnam National University Hospital during the 1st year since the opening of the isolated rehabilitation medicine ward in September 1989 were analyzed. The study population was consisted of 25 men and 2 women. Nine cases (33.3%) were in the 20-29 age group and 11 cases (40.8%) were injured by traffic accident, the most common cause of traumatic spinal cord injury in this study. Sixteen cases(59.2%) were paraplegics and eleven cases(40.8%) were quardriplegics. The duration from the onset of injury to admission to the department of rehabilitation medicine ranged from 21 days to 14 years with mean of 18 months. The complications seen in this study were as follows. 1. Urinary tract infections, most common complication, were found in 14 cases (51.6%) followed by decubitus ulcers (44.4%), edema of leg (22.2%), spasticity (18.5%). 2. The most common organism of urinary tract infection was E.coli(43.0%). 3. Among the 22 cases which underwent IVP and VCUG, 2 cases showed hydronephrosis in IVP and 4 cases showed vesicoureteral reflux in VCUG. 4 The most common site of pressure sores was sacrum(53.3%). 5. The mean duration of pressure sore healing with non-surgical treatment was 18 days in Grade II and 42 days in Grade III. With the above results, it is concluded that most frequent complications of patients with spinal cord injury were urinary tract infection and pressure sores, with most of them being occurred before the admission to department of rehabilitation medicine and being treated completely during the stay in the department of rehabilitatiom medicine, and that the comprehensive rehabilitation treatment for the prevention of complications is necessary from the onset of injury.

문화의 생태학 : 엘리엇의 문화론을 중심으로 T.S Eliot's Definition of Culture

In this article I have surveyed the ecological traits of culture presented by T. S. Eliot chiefly in his book of Notes towards the Definition of Culture. He comprehends culture as a tree with an organic system growing from the soil of a human society and as an interrelated whole of the parts. From the ecological point of view he observes several unique traits of culture. First of all, he understands culture inseparable from religion in that religion is ingrained in man's behavior and habit and culture includes all the human activities and interests. And he thinks that men are endowed with different talents so that the different levels of culture and the classes of various functions are spontaneously formed in the human community. Eliot is keenly aware of the role of a family as a primary channel of transmission of culture and thinks it desirable to preserve the local cultures and the "unity and diversity" among the stronger and the satellite cultures. Furthermore, he considers the cultural conflicts and friction between class and region favorable for the progress of culture. These qualities of culture defined by Eliot may be neglected as the obsolete ones in the Postmodern age when we are facing with the popularity of the mixed multicultures in the imaginary space of computers and in the mass media. Those, however, deserve our careful attention as a means of friction to hold out the artificial production of the degraded various cultures. His theory of culture gives us a balanced perspective when we listen to Eliot's worry about the degradation of culture, which would be caused by the monopolistic control of government in the reformation of culture with disregarding the innate ecological character of culture.

Similarity-Based Information Tuning in A MultiDatabase and MultiSource Data Environment : The Sybit System

In most manufacturing environments, data representing an object are scattered over multiple databases and can be updated by multiple sources. We refer to such an environment as a multidatabase multisource (MDMS) data environment. One of the most important issues in a MDMS data environment is how to choose a value for an object when there exist multiple records of values for it. We propose an information tuning model, the Sybit system, based on the object management and similarity measure among objects. To fulfill the requirements of such a model, we also propose a generalized index tree by which a complex object hierarchy and version management are efficiently supported. This article describes the main characteristics of a MDMS data environment, the complex object representation issues in object-oriented databases, the semantic similarity view, and the architecture of the Sybit system.

페이스북을 활용한 조직 내 소통이 조직문화와 감정노동에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구

본 연구는 국내 준정부기관에서 활용하고 있는 페이스북 소통매체 활용정도가 조직구성원들이 인지하는 조직문화 및 감정노동과 어떠한 영향 관계가 있는지 조사해보는데 그 목적을 두었다. 국내 K준정부기관 직원 총 101명을 대상으로 자료를 수집 후 분석한 결과, 조직 내 페이스북 소통매체 활용정도는 인지된 조직문화 하위요인 중 집단문화, 발전문화, 위계문화, 합리문화 모두에 유의미한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며, 감정노동 하위요인 중 감정표현의 빈도와 감정표현의 다양성에 유의미한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 서비스직이 아닌 일반 사무직 종사자, 연구원 및 공무원 등을 대상으로 감정노동을 조사한 최초 실증연구이며, 본 연구 결과는 향후 조직 내 효과적인 소통 방법 구상을 위한 기초 자료로 활용될 수 있다. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of communication using Facebook on perceived organization culture and emotional labor perceived by members. Data were collected from 101 office workers for a quasi-governmental organization located in Seoul. The findings of this study can be summarized as follows: the usage of Facebook as a communication tool within an organization had positive effects on the clan culture, adhocracy culture, hierarchy culture, and market culture. Also it had positive effects on frequency and variety of emotional display. This is the first empirical study focused on the emotional labor for office workers, and the findings of this study will provide an insight to design and develop an efficient communication method within organization.

사무 프로젝트 목표관리를 위한 의사결정 모델 제안

It is a typical scenario in cooperative work environment that the majority of the participating team members who are working together to achieve the common goal are quite often geographically scattered over different locations, and different perspectives of each team members participating in the project often lead to conflicting decisions. The decision support system model proposed in this work provides all related team/members with system-mediated decision to resolve such conflicts. This paper focuses on development of the general architecture of the decision support model and its three core agents to manage the goal graph with input from both teams and the management in order to generate the most optimal decision for project goal management. The Resolution Agent, one of the three core module of the system, determines the most optimistic resolution called optimal point in terms of satisfying the highest level goal on the project and tries to mediate controversial issues among different teams.

비서직종사자의 관심사와 매너리즘에 관한 기초 연구

최근 언론보도 자료에 의하면 매너리즘이나 타성이 개인 발전에 있어 저해 요소일 뿐만 아니라 여성 직장인의 퇴직이나 이직으로까지 이어지는 사회 전반의 여러 심각한 문제의 근본 원인이라고 한다. 여성이 큰 비중을 차지하는 비서직의 경우 매너리즘을 경험한 적이 있는 비서의 비율은 상당히 높을 것으로 추정된다. 본 연구에서는 현직 비서 100명을 대상으로 비서의 일반적 특성에 따라 매너리즘 정도에 차이가 있는지, 그리고 비서 개인의 관심사(자기관심사, 직무관심사, 효과관심사)에 따라 매너리즘에 미치는 영향에 차이가 있는지를 조사해보았다. 비서의 일반적 특성 중 기업형태만이 매너리즘에 유의한 차이를 보였으며 공공기관에서의 매너리즘 정도가 가장 높은 것으로 나타났다. 비서관심사의 세 가지 하위요인 가운데 매너리즘에 효과관심사가 가장 큰 음(-)의 영향을, 그 다음 순으로 자기관심사가 양(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 파악되었다. 비서역할의 중요성이 그 어느 때보다 고조되고 있는 오늘 기업사회가 비서들의 관심사나 매너리즘 관련 현재 처해있는 상황을 이해하는 것은 매너리즘 극복과 예방을 위한 과정의 첫 단계라고 판단된다. In recent media reports, the significance of mannerism has been raised as a problem prevalent in society. Mannerism and habits are reported as a detrimental factor to growth and change. Since the office profession is a field with one of the highest ratios of women employees, it is highly appropriate and significant to pay attention to office professionals’ job concerns and mannerism. The main purpose of this study is to investigate whether any personal factor influences the mannerism of office professionals, whether their job concerns with self, job, or impact are related with mannerism in the work setting, etc. To achieve the purpose of this research, data were collected from 100 office professionals. The results from the data analysis are as follows: Concerns with self have a positive correlation with mannerism, and concerns with impact have a negative correlation with mannerism. Among personal factors (age, education, duration of career, employment type, company type), only company type was found to significantly influence office professionals’ mannerism. In today’s business environment, where office professionals’ enthusiasm and vital role and functions are greatly expected, paying attention to and understand mannerism and its impact on both the individual and the organization are the first steps which need to be taken to start planning prevention or education programs to avoid mannerism.

비서직 종사자의 컴퓨터 자기효능감이 경령계획과 혁신행동에 미치는 영향

기업의 전문인력 양성 및 인적자원관리, 비서직 종사자의 생산성 및 전문성개발 요구, 그리고 교육자의 사회요구에 부응하는 인재 배출 목표를 고려할 때, 기업, 비서, 교육자 세 그룹 모두에게 컴퓨터 자기효능감, 경력계획, 그리고 혁신행동은 매우 중요한 변인이다. 본 연구에서는 비서직 종사자들의 컴퓨터 자기효능감이 경력계획과 혁신행동에 미치는 영향에 대한 실증분석을 실시하였다. 비서직종사자의 컴퓨터 자기효능감 종합수준 그리고 하위요인인 시스템관리능력과 소프트웨어활용능력에 대한 자신감은 경력계획과 혁신행동 모두에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 하위요인 인터넷활용능력에 대한 자신감은 혁신행동에만 약한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났고 경력계획과는 무관한 것으로 조사되었다. 본 연구 결과로 비서직 종사자들이 컴퓨터 관련 계속교육의 중요성을 인지하고 자기계발에 적극 참여할 수 있는 계기가 마련될 수 있고, 기업에게는 비서직종사자의 정보처리 능력향상을 위한 계속교육 프로그램 개발의 중요성에 대한 올바른 인식을 바탕으로 효율적인 인적자원 개발을 도모하게 될 것이며, 예비비서 교육자에게는 컴퓨터 교과과정 개발 시 필요한 기초 자료가 마련될 수 있을 것이다. Office professionals' success in career management depends on the level of computer self-efficacy(CSE) which represents how they are confident about themselves on problem-solving utilizing proper computer knowledge and skills. The main purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of computer self-efficacy on career planning and innovative behavior of office professionals. Major findings are (1)office professionals' both career planning and innovative behavior were affected by the level of CSE, (2)CSE's 2 components, computer system management skill and application software skill affect both career planning and innovative behavior, and (3)continuing education for new computer knowledge and skill has teen found as the most important factor for enhancing the level of CSE for office professionals.
