Unsteady fluid dynamics analysis of flow characteristics inside a Metal DPF system is done using a commercial CAE software, CFD-ACE+. The time profiles of both temperature and pressure of exhaust gas are given as initial conditions. It was found that the position of connecting pipes and the numbering of exhaust gases did not affect the flow uniformity. The presence of a DPF resulted in the significant flow nonuniformity effect on the flow characteristics at the inlet of the DPF. Present results can be applied to the selection of optimal geometry that produces uniform flow characteristics inside a DPF system.

The purpose of this study is the analysis of the characteristics of fuel economy due to driving mode conditions changes in HEV and PHEV compare with the existing internal combustion engine vehicle. These were applied representative driving mode such as FTP-75, HWFET, US06 and SC03 mode in order to the evaluation of fuel economy. In conducted driving test mode, the fuel economy of HEV, PHEV of power type is better than internal combustion engine vehicles. However In the HWFET, US-06 mode belonging to the high-speed driving mode, the fuel economy gap of HEV, PHEV of the power type are more significantly it dropped because power type is concentrated in the low speed. Also In the SC03 mode, the fuel economy of all HEV, PHEV are seen falling trend significantly.

Unsteady fluid dynamics analysis of flows inside a metal DPF is done using a commercial CAE software, CFD-ACE+. The time profiles of both temperature and pressure of exhaust gas are selected as time and boundary conditions. The porosity or permeability of the DPF was obtained by obtaining the pressure drop data from experimental tests. It was found that the flow uniformity is significantly affected by the curvatures of parts that connect the exhaust manifold and the connecting pipes. In future, the optimization of the geometry can be done using the design of experiments.

The next generation alternative fuel of diesel, DME (Dimethyl Ether) discharges particulate matter hardly due to chemical structural as oxygen-fuel so it has the eco-friendly property. Despite these advantages, the DME has the technical difficulties to apply to the diesel engine because of a low calorific value, viscosity and compressibility effects. From this point of view, we performed experimental studies on improved reliability of DME common-rail vehicle and lubricity enhancement of DME fuel for empirical distribution of eco-friendly DME fuel. Also we analyzed solubility of lubrication enhancer according to a drop in temperature, try to secure reliability about core parts of DME vehicle by applying lubrication enhancer in the DME common-rail vehicle.
