A novel four-unknown quasi-3D shear deformation theory for functionally graded plates
Nabil Hebbar,Mohamed Bourada,Mohamed Sekkal,Abdelouahed Tounsi,S. R. Mahmoud 국제구조공학회 2018 Steel and Composite Structures, An International J Vol.27 No.5
In this article a four unknown quasi-3D shear deformation theory for the bending analysis of functionally graded (FG) plates is developed. The advantage of this theory is that, in addition to introducing the thickness stretching impact (<i>εz</i> ≠ 0), the displacement field is modeled with only four variables, which is even less than the first order shear deformation theory (FSDT). The principle of virtual work is utilized to determine the governing equations. The obtained numerical results from the proposed theory are compared with the CPT, FSDT, and other quasi-3D HSDTs.
Reactions to Store Environment and Interpersonal Service Quality in Supermarkets vs Hypermarkets
Mohamed Nabil MZOUGHI,Karim Fraj GARROUCH 한국유통과학회 2022 유통과학연구 Vol.20 No.1
Purpose: The purpose is to verify the impact of the store environment on interpersonal service quality (ISQ), shopping value and patronage intention, as well as the moderating role of the store format: supermarkets vs hypermarkets. This is significant as previous studies on retailing neglected the effect of interpersonal service quality on the experiential shopping value. The comparison of the model between two retailing formats (hypermarkets and supermarkets) provides a significant contribution and responds to a need to provide insights regarding the moderation of the store types on the contribution of interpersonal service quality and experiential value to customer’s retention. Research design, data, and methodology: The hypotheses have been tested after analyzing the data of a survey among 405 consumers exiting stores representing various retailing stores in Tunisia. A Structural model have been finally verified by a path analysis after applying a confirmatory factorial analysis. Multigroup analyses on AMOS allowed to verify the moderation of store types. Results: Results mainly show that patronage intention is affected by the experiential perceived value dimensions. The latter is a direct consequence of ISQ and an indirect outcome of perceived shopping environment. The impact of value, environment and ISQ is moderated by the store type.

Background/Aims: Epigenetics involved in multiple normal cellular processes. Previous research have revealed the role of hepatitis C virus infection in accelerating methylation process and affecting response to treatment in chronic hepatitis patients. This work aimed to elucidate the role of promoter methylation (PM) in response to antiviral therapy, and its contribution to the development of fibrosis through hepatocarcinogenesis-related genes. Methods: A total of 159 chronic hepatitis Egyptian patients versus 100 healthy control group were included. The methylation profile of a panel 9 genes (SFRP1, p14, p73, APC, DAPK, RASSF1A, LINE1, O6MGMT, and p16) was detected in patients’ plasma using methylation-specific polymerase chain reaction (MSP). Results: Clinical and laboratory findings were gathered for patients with combined pegylated interferon and ribavirin antiviral therapy. Regarding the patients’ response to antiviral therapy, the percentage of non-responders for APC, O6MGMT, RASSF1A, SFRP1, and p16 methylated genes were significantly higher versus responders (P<0.05). Of the 159 included patients, the most frequent methylated genes were SFRP1 (102/159), followed by p16 (100/159), RASSF1A (98/159), then LINE1 (81/159), P73 (81/159), APC (78/159), DAPK (66/159), O6MGMT (66/159), and p14 (54/159). A total of 67/98 (68.4%) cases of RASSF1A methylated gene (P=0.0.024), and 62/100 (62%) cases of P16 methylated gene (P=0.03) were associated with mild-degree fibrosis. Conclusions: To recapitulate, the PM of SFRP1, APC, RASSF1A, O6MGMT, and p16 genes increases in chronic hepatitis C patients, and can affect patients’ response to antiviral therapy. The RASSF1A and P16 genes might have a role in the distinction between mild and marked fibrosis.

Purpose: The present study aimed to compare the immune-enhancing potential of gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) to Alum against rabies vaccine and the related immunological, physiological, and histopathological effects. Materials and Methods: Alum and AuNPs sole and in combination with rabies vaccine were used at 0.35 mg/mL and 40 nM/mL, respectively. Rats used were categorized into six groups (20/each): control rats, rabies vaccine, aluminum phosphate gel, rabies vaccine adsorbed to Alum, AuNPs, and rabies vaccine adjuvant AuNPs. Results: Liver and kidney functions were in the normal range after AuNPs and Alum adjuvanted vaccine compared to control. Interleukin-6 and interferon-γ levels were significantly increased in groups immunized with Alum and AuNPs adjuvanted vaccine, the peak level was in the case of AuNP adjuvanted vaccine on the 14th day. Ninety days post-vaccination, total immunoglobulin G (IgG) against adjuvanted rabies vaccine showed a significantly elevated anti-rabies IgG with AuNPs and Alum adsorbed vaccine compared with unadjuvanted one. The total antioxidant capacity, malondialdehyde (MDA) levels, superoxide dismutase, and glutathione peroxidase activities were significantly increased post-adjuvanted AuNPs adjuvanted vaccine vaccination than in Alum adsorbed vaccine, while MDA was significantly decreased. The histopathological examination revealed detectable alterations post-AuNPs and Alum adjuvanted vaccine immunization compared with liver and kidney profiles post-administration of unadjuvanted and non-immunized groups, meanwhile, splenic tissue revealed hyperplasia of lymphoid follicles indicating increased immune reactivity. Conclusion: The AuNPs are promising enhancers of the immune response as Alum, and the undesirable effects of AuNPs could be managed by using suitable sizes, shapes, and concentrations.

Immunoregulatory cytokines have an influence on hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection outcome. This study aimed to determine whether single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP) in IFN- ${\gamma}$ and IL-10 genes are associated with susceptibility and/or are markers of prognosis regarding chronic hepatitis C outcomes. IFN ${\gamma}$ (+874T/A) and IL-10 (-1082G/A) genotypes were determined in 75 HCV genotype 4 patients with different disease severities (chronic hepatitis, n=25, liver cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) on top of liver cirrhosis, n=50) and 25 healthy participants using allele-specific polymerase chain reaction. No statistical differences in allele or genotype distributions of IFN ${\gamma}$ and IL-10 genes were detected between patients and controls or between patientgroups. No significant difference in the frequency of IL-10 SNP at position -1082 or IFN-${\gamma}$ at position +874T/A was found between chronic HCV genotype 4 and with progression of disease severity in liver cirrhosis or HCC. In conclusion; interferon-${\gamma}$ and interleukin-10 gene polymorphisms are not predictors of disease progression in patients with chronic hepatitis C (Genotype-4).

This study attempts to shed light on the coupled impact of types of loading, thickness stretching, and types of variation of Winkler–Pasternak foundations on the flexural behavior of simply- supported FG plates according to the new quasi– 3D high order shear deformation theory, including integral terms. A new function sheep is used in the present work. In particular, both Winkler and Pasternak layers are non-uniform and vary along the plate length direction. In addition, the interaction between the loading type and the variation of Winkler–Pasternak foundation parameters is considered and involved in the governing equilibrium equations. Using the virtual displacement principle and Navier’s solution technique, the numerical results of nondimensional stresses and displacements are computed. Finally, the non-dimensional formulas’ results are validated with the existing literature, and excellent agreement is detected between the results. More importantly, several complementary parametric studies with the effect of various geometric and material factors are examined. The present analytical model is suitable for investigating the bending of simply-supported FGM plates for special technical engineering applications.

Induction motors are widely used in industrial processes since they offer a very high degree of reliability. But like any other machine, they are vulnerable to faults, which if left unmonitored, might lead to an unexpected interruption at the industrial plant. Therefore, the condition monitoring of the induction motors have been a challenging topic for many electrical machine researchers. Indeed, the effectiveness of the fault diagnosis and prognosis techniques depends very much on the quality of the fault features selection. However, in induction-motor drives, rotor defects are the most complex in terms of detection since they interact with the supply frequency within a restricted band around this frequency, especially in the no-loaded case. To overcome this drawback, this paper deals with an efficient and new method to diagnose the induction-motor rotor fault based on the digital implementation of the monitoring algorithm based on the association of the Time Synchronous Averaging technique and Discrete Wavelet Transform. Experimental results are presented in order to show the effectiveness of the proposed method. The obtained results are largely satisfactory, indicating a promising industrial application of the combined “Time Synchronous Averaging – Discrete Wavelet Transform” approach.

A method is described for efficient decolorization of reactive red 195 A dye (RR-195A) from aqueous andwastewater samples using modified Switchgrass Biochar (SB) by tetradecyltrimethyl ammoniumbromide (TTAB) as a cationic surfactant for the formation of a novel SB-TTAB adsorbent. The differentcontrolling experimental conditions such as solution pH, initial dye concentration, contact time, adsorbent mass, interfering ions and temperature have been investigated and optimized. Adsorptionequilibrium using Langmuir, Freundlich, Temkin and Dubinin–Radushkevich (D–R) isotherm modelshave been also studied and the best fit was related to the Langmuir adsorption isotherm. Adsorptionkinetics have been tested and illustrated using pseudo first-order, pseudo-second-order, intraparticlediffusion and Elovich models. The collected results confirmed that the pseudo-second order kineticmodel exhibited the best fit with the experimental data. Thermodynamic parameters were calculatedand the results referred to an exothermic nature and spontaneity of the adsorption process. Improveddecolorization of reactive red 195 A dye from textile industrial wastewater and other water sampleswere successfully established. Excellent recovery values of RR-195A dye by SB-TTAB adsorbent weredetermined in the ranges of 96.61–98.76%, 97.79–99.26%, 94.24–100.0% and 90.98–92.96% ( 1.0–4.0%)from tap water, raw water, wastewater and sea water, respectively

A method is described for functionalization of nano-zirconium silicate with 3-aminopropyltrimethox-ysilane by a fast solvent-free reaction using microwave-assisted fabrication approach to produce a novelNano-ZrSiO4–NH2 adsorbent. The structure was confirmed from the FT-IR, SEM, TGA and surface areaanalysis. The metal adsorption and selectivity properties were examined and evaluated from thedistribution coefficients (Kd) of a series of metal ions. Nano-ZrSiO4–NH2 was identified to exhibit 6.300,4.000 and 2.100 mmol g 1 as the highest capacity values for Cu(II), Cd(II) and Pb(II), respectively using0.005 g of the adsorbent per 10.0 mL solution. Other important controlling factors were also explored.
Robust Control under Constraints of Linear Systems with Markovian Jumps
Mohammed Benbrahim,Mohammed Nabil Kabbaj,Khalid Benjelloun 제어·로봇·시스템학회 2016 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.14 No.6
The object of this paper is to study the problem of robust stabilizability for a class of continuous-timeLinear Systems with Markovian Jumps (LSMJ) and saturated input. Sufficient conditions for stochastic stabilizabilitywith constrained control input are given in terms of Linear Matrix Inequalities (LMIs). The approach gives adirect expression of the linear state feedback controller that respects the condition of saturation. Also, the robustnessof these systems for four types of structural uncertainties: (1) matching conditions, (2) norm bounded, (3) valuebounded and (4) linear combinations is treated. Finally, numerical examples are given to illustrate the usefulness ofthe proposed results.
