      • The efficacy of ethanedinitrile to control wood related insect pests

        Methyl bromide (MeBr) which is widely used in most of the countries for quarantine purpose, has been designated and under control as ozone depleting substance. This study is on the toxicity of ethanedinitrile as a MeBr alternative to control several wood-related insect pests. LC50 value of Ethanedinitrile(EDN) for Reticulitemes speratus, Tomicus piniperda adults at 21℃ was 0.26, 4.83 mg/L respectively. LC99 value of EDN for R. speratus at open status and closed wooden cubes was 0.65, 0.62 mg/L respectively, whereas MB was 13.96, 31.10 mg/L, which means that the toxicity of EDN for R. spratus is greater and EDN penetrates better into wood as compared with MB. The morality of EDN 20.3 mg/L(6hr) at 25℃ for Crytogenius lutats in wood was 90.3% in larvae, 58.6% in pupae and 89.5% in adults, which means that pupae were more resistant than larvae and adult. All stages of C. lutats were disinfected with EDN at or more than 29.9.mg/L, 6hr(CT product 89 mg hr/L) at 25℃. In sorption and application test, CT product of EDN 50 g/㎥(6hr) was 157 g hr/㎥ in the conditions of 21% wood moisture content with 25% loading, 171 g hr/㎥ in 54% wood moisture content with 25% loading and 158 g hr/㎥ in 54% wood moisture content with 50% loading, respectively. In all treatments, adults of Cryphalus fulvus and R. speratus were completely killed. The minimal CT product (158 g hr/m3) of 6hrs treatment was higher than CT product to disinfect C. lutats (89 mg hr/L). It is expected that it can be used as alternative fumigant of MeBr for woods.

      • Building Management Systems Using Wireless Sensor Network

        We demonstrate an industrial-strength wireless sensor network application for indoor environment monitoring built on top of TinyOS. The application is integrated with a building management system which is in wide use over the related industry. We discuss issues that arise in deploying and integrating a sensor network for commercial building management systems, ranging from case design to overall system architecture.

        FHD급 DIC 플랫폼의 변위계측용 영상품질 분석

        건축 구조물의 상대적인 변위 계측을 위하여 2메가 픽셀 Full HD(FHD) 해상도의 카메라와 디지털 영상상관(DIC, Digital Image Correlation) 플랫폼을 설계하고, 계측에 영향을 주는 영상 품질을 분석하였다. DIC 플랫폼은 Freescale사의 I.MX6를 기반으로 설계하였다. 영상 상관을 이용한 계측은 영상의 품질에 따라 계측 정밀도에 영향을 줄 수 있는데, 이러한 영상 품질 요인으로 영상의 밝기(brightness), 대조(contrast), 신호대 잡음비(SNR, Signal to Noise Ratio)를 분석하였다. 관심 영역(ROI, Region Of Interest)으로 설정한 부분에서 추출한 영상을 기준 영상으로 삼고, 일정 시간 경과 후 디지털 영상 상관(DIC)을 이용하여 기준 영상의 이동을 화소 및 부화소 단위로 추적 계산하여 변위를 측정하였다. 더불어 DIC 기반의 비접촉 원격 계측의 유효성을 파악하기 위하여 25m, 35m, 50m의 계측 거리에서, 영상 품질 요인 및 ROI 의 크기를 조정하여 측정을 하고 정밀도를 분석하였다. This paper presents the analysis of image quality with FHD(Full HD) resolution camera equipped DIC(Digital Image Correlation) platform for the measurement of the architectural structure’s relative displacement. DIC platform was designed based on i.MX6 of Freescale. Displacement measurement based on DIC method, the error is affected by image quality factors as pixel number, brightness, contrast, and SNR[dB](Signal to Noise Ratio). The effect were analyzed. The displacement of ROI(Region Of Interest) area within the image was measured by sub-pixel units based on DIC method. The non-contact telemetry property of DIC method, it can be used to long distance non-contact measurement. The various displacement results was measured and analyzed with the image quality factor adjustment according to the distance(25m, 35m, 50m).

      • Time- and Dose-based Gene Expression Profiles Produced by a Bile-duct–damaging Chemical, 4,4′-methylene Dianiline, in Mouse Liver in an Acute Phase

        <P>A toxicogenomics study was performed in the mouse liver after treatment of a bile-duct–damaging chemical, 4,4′-methylene dianiline (MDA), across multiple doses and sampling times in an acute phase using the AB Expression Array System. Imprinting control region (ICR) mice were given a single oral administration of a low (10 mg/kg b.w.) or high (100 mg/kg b.w.) dose of MDA. Mice were sacrificed six, twenty-four, and seventy-two hours after treatment for serum chemistry, histopathology, and mRNA preparation from liver samples. Treatment with MDA increased liver-toxicity–related enzymes in blood and induced bile-duct cell injury, followed by regeneration. To explore potential biomarker gene profiles, the altered genes were categorized into four expression patterns depending on dose and time. Numerous functionally defined and unclassified genes in each category were up- or down-regulated throughout the period from cellular injury to the recovery phase, verified by RT-PCR. Many genes associated with liver toxicity and diseases belonged to one of these categories. The chemokine-mediated Th1 pathway was implicated in the inflammatory process. The genes associated with oxidative stress, apoptosis, and cell-cycle regulation were also dynamically responsive to MDA treatment. The Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway was likely responsible for the reconstitution process of the MDA-injured liver.</P>

        언택트(Un-tact) 시대 지속적 참여를 유도하는 온·오프라인 시니어 디지털 교육 플랫폼 ‘디지털 사랑방’ 서비스디자인 제안

        연구배경 코로나19가 전 세계를 강타한 이후 온라인 쇼핑과 같은 비대면 서비스의 시대가 시작되었다. 디지털 활용률이 떨어지는 60대 이상 노인들은 이러한 시대 흐름에 맞춰가지 못하고 점점 소외되는 현상이 나타났다. 언택트(Un-tact) 시대가 지속되며 각종 생활 서비스들이 비대면으로 바뀌고 있는 현 상황에서 스마트폰조차 제대로 활용하지 못하는 노인들은 사회적으로 고립될 뿐만 아니라 생존과 관련된 위험을 겪는 등의 문제점이 나타나고 있다. 연구방법 본 연구에서는 서비스디자인 방법론인 더블 다이아몬드 프로세스를 활용하여 노인들의 디지털 경험을 분석함으로써 보다 실용적이고 효과적이며, 노인들의 지속적 참여를 유도하는 노인 디지털 교육 서비스 디자인을 제안하고자 하였다. 구체적으로, 문헌연구와 이해관계자 맵을 바탕으로 진행된 사용자 및 이해관계자 조사를 통해 도출한 인사이트를 어피니티 다이어그램, 퍼소나, 고객여정맵 등으로 분석해 정의하였고, HMW를 통해 나온 서비스 컨셉과 프로토타입을 사용자 테스트를 통해 발전시켰다. 연구결과 이렇게 진행된 연구에서 최종적으로 제안된 서비스 블루프린트로 노인 디지털 교육 서비스 프로세스 속, 사용자와 다양한 이해관계자의 상호작용을 시각적으로 확인하였다. 또한 사용자의 디지털 활용수준에 따라 기대할 수 있는 단계적 서비스 경험을 ①필수적인 디지털 교육을 통한 노인의 자립 도움, ②디지털 플랫폼을 통한 노인 간 온/오프라인 소통과 연결, ③더 나아가 서비스를 사용한 노인들의 사회적 활동을 통한 노인 세대 활성화와 같이 총 3단계로 나눠 서비스 솔루션 로드맵을 제시하였다. 결론 본 연구는 언택트 시대 노인 디지털 소외 문제에 서비스 디자인적 접근법을 적용해 다양한 시각에서의 해결책을 찾고자 하였고, 최종적으로 효과적인 노인 디지털 교육을 위한 온/오프라인 플랫폼 구축을 서비스 목표로 수립하였다. 이를 위해 노인들의 눈높이에 맞는 환경을 조성하면서도, 다양한 이해관계자를 고려한 복합적인 솔루션을 제안하였다. 이는 기존의 노인 디지털 교육을 보완하기 위한 노노교육 기반의 1:1 노인 디지털 교육, 노인들의 자발적 접근과 지속적 참여를 유도하기 위한 노인 맞춤 콘텐츠와 노인 간 소통 환경을 제공하는 등의 부가적 서비스를 제공하는 플랫폼을 통해 구체화되었다. Background Since the Covid-19 outbreak, it led the world to a contact-free economy where people shop mostly through online. The elderly could not follow up and have been left behind in this new contact-free era. As the contact-free era continues and other living services are being turned to non-contact services, the elderly who do not even use smartphones are not only being socially isolated but also experiencing survival risks. Methods In this study, the methodology of service design, the Double Diamond Process, was used to provide more practical and effective digital education methods to encourage the continued participation of the elderly by analyzing the digital experience of the elderly. Specifically, insights derived from literature research, stakeholder maps and surveys taken by users and stakeholders were defined by analyzing them by following methods: affinity diagrams, personas, and customer travel maps. Service concepts and prototypes were the outcomes of the HMW process and were developed through user testing. Result The service blueprint of the final proposal visually identified the interactions and processes between users and various stakeholders of the elderly digital education service. Also, a total of three service solution road maps were proposed: ➀ assistance of the self-reliance for the elderly through essential digital education, ➁ online and offline communication and connection among senior citizens through digital platforms, and ➂ vitalization of senior citizens’ social activities by using the service. Conclusion This study sought to find solutions from various perspectives by applying a service design approach to the digital alienation problem of the elderly in the Untact era, and finally established an on/offline platform for effective digital education for the elderly. For this end, we propose a complex solution considering various stakeholders while creating an environment for the elderly. This has been embodied in: 1:1 digital education by the elderly to supplement existing digital education, a platform for providing customized content for the elderly and a communication environment between the elderly to encourage voluntary and continued participation.

        IoT Delegate: Smart Home Framework for Heterogeneous IoT Service Collaboration

        With Internet of Things (IoT) technology, home environment becomes smarter than ever. Not only smart devices such as smart phone or smart TV, but also various IoT devices including sensor, smart thermostat, and smart scale has now become very common on the market. These devices have connectivity to the Internet, so that user can read data from the device or control the device using Internet technology. However, due to diversity of smart home requirements, device collaboration in smart home remains a challenging task still. Usually smart home is built with various technologies to fulfill its own purpose, and these purposes cover very wide area from controlling low-power sensor devices to controlling high-performance devices like smart TV and smart phone. This variety of smart home requirements makes smart home very complicated due to mixed network architecture, protocol and technology. In this paper, a framework to enable managing and collaborating heterogeneous IoT devices in smart home environment is proposed. Several programming models are defined in the proposed framework to make application development for heterogeneous devices more intuitive. The proposed framework has been implemented as a web service, and a case study with real-world smart home IoT devices is presented.

        Establishment of Baculovirus Infected Insect Cell Line Expressing Porcine Salivary Lipocalin(SAL1) Protein

        Salivary lipocalin (SAL1) is a member of the lipocalin protein family that has a property to associate with many lipophilic molecules. The importance of SAL1 during pregnancy in pigs has been suggested by our previous study which has shown that SAL1 is expressed in the uterine endometrium in a cell type- and implantation stage-specific manner and secreted into the uterine lumen. However, function of SAL1 in the uterus during pregnancy in pigs is not known. To understand SAL1 function in the uterus during pregnancy, we generated recombinant porcine SAL1 protein in an insect cell line. Porcine SAL1 cDNA was cloned into a baculovirus expression vector using RT-PCR and total RNA from uterine endometrium on day 12 of pregnancy, and the expression vector was used to generate recombinant Bacmid containing the SAL1 gene. The recombinant Bacmid was then transfected Sf9 cell to produce recombinant baculovirus. By infecting Sf9 cell with recombinant baculovirus, we established a SAL1- expressing insect cell expression system. Immunoblot analysis confirmed SAL1 expression in the infected cells. Recombinant SAL1 produced by the Sf9 cell line will be useful for understanding physiological function of SAL1 during pregnancy in pigs.
