Instrumental neutron and gamma activation analysis of coal and combustion products, determination of platinum content in natural samples by radiochemical gamma activation analysis and high-sensitive track method of thorium determination has been studied with the use of the MT-25 microtron.The optimal conditions for complete elemental analysis of coal and combustion products, isolation and determination of platinum and thorium are recommended.
Advanced Evaluation of ^(237)Np and ^(243)Am Neutron Data

The diverse measured data base of n+^(237)Np is evaluated using a generalized least squares code and statistical theory of nuclear reactions. Consistent description of the total, fission and partial inelastic scattering data in 1 - 3 MeV energy range provides an important constraint for the absorption cross section. Important constraints for the measured capture cross section come from the average radiation S0 and S1 strength functions. An abrupt change of the inelastic data shape at En ∼ 1.5 MeV is explained by the sharp increase of the level density of the residual odd-even nuclide ^(237)Np due to the onset of three-quasi-particle excitations. The in fluence of exclusive (n, xnf) pre-fission neutrons on prompt fission neutron spectra and (n, xn) reactions spectra is modeled. Contributions of emissive/non-emissive fission and exclusive spectra of (n, xnf) reactions are defined by a consistent description of the ^(237)Np(n, F), ^(237)Np (n, 2n)^(236s)Np reactions and the ratio of the yields of short-lived isomer (1^-) and long-lived ground (6^-) ^(236)Np states measured at ∼14 MeV. The isomer ratio of the yields of short-lived ground (1^-) ^(242g)Am and long-lived isomer (5^-) ^(242m)Am states in ^(243)Am(n, 2n) reaction is calculated modeling the gamma-decay of the possible Gallaher-Moshkowski doublet states of ^(242) Am.
^(235)U(n, f), ^(233)U(n, f) and ^(239)Pu(n, f) Prompt Fission Neutron Spectra

New prompt fission neutron spectra (PFNS) matrices for the n+^(235)U, n+^(233)U, and n+^(239)Pu systems are prepared. Present and previous PFNS shapes are drastically different from each other, the former being consistent with measured data base. A combined generalized least-squares fit of n_(th)+^(235)U, n_(th)+^(233)U, n_(th)+^(239)Pu, and ^(252)Cf(sf) measured data base is accomplished. The solution of the longstanding problem of inconsistency of ^(235)U integral data testing and differential prompt fission neutron spectra data (PFNS) is proposed. Similar problems for the n+^(233)U and n+^(239)Pu are envisaged, revealing arbitrary tweaking of relevant neutron cross sections. Fast ^(235)U integral critical assemblies like Godiva or Flattop benchmarks are reproduced with the same accuracy as with the PFNS of the major data libraries. That reveals a rather delicate compensation effect, tracking the success of the distorted PFNS of the major data libraries to the excessive number of neutrons at energies of 1-3 MeV. Thermal assembly benchmarking reveals positive biases in k_(eff), which might be attributed to the in fluence of a soft energy tail of the present PFNS. For some of Valduc's LCT benchmarks biases in k_(eff) are less than 20 pcm. Fast ^(239)Pu integral critical experiments like Jezebel reveal the in fluence of overestimated inelastic scattering for ^(239)Pu, arbitrarily introduced previously to diminish the in fluence on the k_(eff) of the distortion of the PFNS.
Symmetric/Asymmetric p- and n-Iinduced Fission of Th, Pa, U, Np, Pu and Am

Recent measurements of nucleon-induced fission cross sections, i.e., ^(232)Th(n, F), ^(232)Th(p, F), ^(235,238)U(n, F), ^(238)U(p, F), ^(237)Np(n, F), ^(238)Pu(n, F), and ^(232)Th(p, xn) cross sections proved the nuclear model of sequential neutron emission credibility in intermediate energy domain. The model allows quantify the excited actinides emissive fission nature up to E_n ∼200 MeV, where up to ∼20 neutron deficient nuclides contribute to the fission observables. That is the mass and excitation energy range where the transition to predominantly symmetric fission is interpreted in ^(232)Th(p, F) reaction, while these mode almost equally contributes with an asymmetric one in ^(235,38)U(n, F) reaction at E_(n(p)) ∼200 MeV. Steep transition from the asymmetric to symmetric fission for neutron-deficient Th(Pa) (A ≤ 229) nuclei (at excitations of ∼10 MeV) is interpreted. The influence of the interplay of fission barriers and entrance channel on the fission observables is shown to be different in case of n(p)+^(232)Th and n(p)+^(232)U and higher Z actinides. A structure of the potential energy surface, specifically, a drop of (E_(fB)^(SL) - E_(fB)^(AS)) from ∼3.5 MeV to ∼1 MeV of N-deficient Pa nuclides (A ≤ 226) and available phase space at outer fission saddles, is shown to be responsible for the sharp increase with E_(n(p)) of the symmetric fission component contribution for ^(232)Th(p, F). In case of U, Np and Pu nuclei nucleon-induced fission the much lower contribution of the symmetric fission mode E_(n(p)) ∼200 MeV is due to lower contribution of symmetrically fissioning neutron-deficient nuclides to fission observables. The description of fission cross sections up to E_(n(p)) ∼200 MeV was achieved for preferential contribution of fission of neutron-deficient nuclides. Consistent estimates of fission properties of Th, Pa, U and Np are obtained based on (n, F), (p, F) and surrogate ratio data description.

Ischemic and reperfusion injuries of the heart underlie the pathogenesis of acute myocardial infarction (AMI) and sudden cardiac death. The mortality rate is still high and is 5–7% in patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction. The review is devoted to pharmacological approaches to limitation of ischemic and reperfusion injuries of the heart. The article analyzes experimental evidence and the clinical data on the effects of P2Y12 receptor antagonists on the heart’s tolerance to ischemia/reperfusion in animals with coronary artery occlusion and reperfusion and also in patients with AMI. Chronic administration of ticagrelor prevented adverse remodeling of the heart. There is evidence that sphingosine-1-phosphate is the molecule that mediates the infarct-reducing effect of P2Y12 receptor antagonists. It was discussed a role of adenosine in the cardioprotective effect of ticagrelor.

<P>A cerium-doped gadolinium-yttrium garnet yellow emitting phosphor was used to optimize the phosphor layer for down-conversion of blue light from InGaN inorganic light-emitting diode (iLED) to white. Optical, morphological and elemental characterizations of phosphor were carried out. Various amounts of the phosphor were dispersed in polymethyl methacrylate polymer (PMMA)-chlorobenzene solution. The phosphor layer thickness was optimized by varying the volume of the phosphor-PMMA mixture. Using a blue emitting (458 nm) iLED, a two times larger luminance efficacy (lm/W) was obtained from down-converted white light using a 37.5 μm thick 25 mm × 25 mm film prepared from 30 mg of phosphor in 500 μl of the PMMA-chlorobenzene solution.</P>
Anisotropic absorption of CdSe/ZnS quantum rods embedded in polymer film

An approach to achieving of spatially homogeneous, ordered ensemble of semiconductor quantum rods in polymer film of polyvinyl butyral is reported. The CdSe/ZnS quantum rods are embedded to the polymer film. Obtained film is stretched up to four times to its initial length. A concentration of quantum rods in the samples is around $2{\times}10^{-5}$ M. The absorption spectra, obtained in the light with orthogonal polarization, confirm the occurrence of spatial ordering in a quantum rod ensemble. Anisotropy of the optical properties in the ordered quantum rod ensemble is examined. The presented method can be used as a low-cost solution for preparing the nanostructured materials with anisotropic properties and high concentration of nanocrystals.
