Background/Aims: Endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration (EUS-FNA) is a highly accurate method for diagnosing pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (PNETs); however, some PNETs are difficult to diagnose. Recently, the efficacy of needle-based confocal laser endomicroscopy (nCLE) in diagnosing solid pancreatic masses has been reported. However, the efficacy of nCLE in the diagnosis of PNETs remains unknown and only a small number of cases have been reported. Hence, this study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of nCLE in the diagnosis of PNETs. Methods: This single-center retrospective study evaluated 30 consecutive patients with suspected PNETs on contrast-enhanced computed tomography, who consented to nCLE combined with EUS-FNA and were diagnosed using EUS-FNA or surgical resection. The diagnostic criteria for PNETs using nCLE were based on the nesting and trabecular and glandular arrangement of tumor cell clusters surrounded by capillary vessels and fibrosis, as reported in previous studies. Results: The diagnosis using nCLE was classified into three categories: misdiagnosis in three cases (10%), non-diagnostic in six cases (20%), and diagnostic in 21 cases (70%). nCLE was able to diagnose PNET in one of the two cases with inconclusive EUS-FNA. Conclusions: Although further development of the resolution and optimization of the diagnostic criteria are required, nCLE may constitute a useful diagnostic option in cases of inconclusive EUS-FNA for PNETs.

Ho-doping Effect on the Incommensurate Magnetic Order in La1.88Sr0.12CuO4

We have performed elastic neutron scattering experiments on the superconductorLa1.85Ho0.03Sr0.12CuO4 to study the effect of substitution of a cation with a large magnetic momentat La site on the static spin correlation. In the Ho-free sample with a hole concentration of 0.12,the spatially-modulated magnetic order is known to be stabilized at temperature below Tspin 30K. In the present Ho-doped sample, we found the appearance of magnetic peaks at (0.5, 0.5 ± 0.119, 0) positions below Tspin 35 K, which is similar to the observation in the pristine sample. Furthermore, the volume-corrected intensities in the Ho-free and Ho-doped samples are comparable, suggesting a negligible effect of Ho-substitution at La sites. These results are quite a contrast tothe huge enhancement of the magnetic intensity and the increase of Tspin by substituting a comparableamounts of magnetic Fe3+ ions onto CuO2 planes. Therefore, the stability of the stripe orderinduced by the cation substitution is sensitive to the site at which the substitution occurs.

Although the mutually complementary network of wired and wireless was studied as an object for home houses and the result was got, adaptation evaluation was tried for it to small-scale buildings, such as a school building, this time. Consequently, it found out that the mutually complementary network of wired and wireless had the possibility of adaptation also at a small-scale building. In the home house, the performance of a mutually complementary network obtained 96.0% by the case of 70.0% of wired-communications performances, and 80.2% of wireless-communications performances. However, it becomes 70.6% and a communication performance is bad at a small-scale building. As the countermeasure, it found out utilizing the wireless-communications function of a stairs part positively this time.

The Fourth Edition of the Guidelines for Treatment of Uterine Body Neoplasm was published in 2018. These guidelines include 9 chapters: 1. Overview of the guidelines, 2. Initial treatment for endometrial cancer, 3. Postoperative adjuvant therapy for endometrial cancer, 4. Post-treatment surveillance for endometrial cancer, 5. Treatment for advanced or recurrent endometrial cancer, 6. Fertility-sparing therapy, 7. Treatment of uterine carcinosarcoma and uterine sarcoma, 8. Treatment of trophoblastic disease, 9. Document collection; and nine algorithms: 1-3. Initial treatment of endometrial cancer, 4. Postoperative adjuvant treatment for endometrial cancer, 5. Treatment of recurrent endometrial cancer, 6. Fertility-sparing therapy, 7. Treatment for uterine carcinosarcoma, 8. Treatment for uterine sarcoma, 9. Treatment for choriocarcinoma. Each chapter includes overviews and clinical questions, and recommendations, objectives, explanation, and references are provided for each clinical question. This revision has no major changes compared to the 3rd edition, but does have some differences: 1) an explanation of the recommendation decision process and conflict of interest considerations have been added in the overview, 2) nurses, pharmacists and patients participated in creation of the guidelines, in addition to physicians, 3) the approach to evidence collection is listed at the end of the guidelines, and 4) for clinical questions that lack evidence or clinical validation, the opinion of the Guidelines Committee is given as a “Recommendations for tomorrow”.

An electric-field-induced strain at 80 K in a 350-nm-thick BiFeO_3 (BFO) thin film deposited by pulsed laser deposition has been investigated by a time-resolved x-ray diffraction under an electric field using a synchrotron radiation. A 300-nsec-width and 804.09-nsec-period voltage pulses were applied to the BFO thin film during the measurements. The time-resolved-x-ray diffraction profile around BFO (001) diffraction peak indicates that BFO (001) diffraction peak shifts to lower angle side during the voltage application. A strain estimated from the peak shift lineally increases with increasing the amplitude of the voltage pulses. A piezoelectric constant (d_(33)) of (001)-oriented domains in the polycrystalline BFO thin film at 80 K is 20.2 pm/V. The value is smaller than that measured at RT of 27.8 pm/V in our previous report.
