Purpose The paper tested the – relationship between the stock markets of the Middle East and the USA with the oil price and US dollar index as threshold variables. Research design, data, and methodology – The stock price indices of the USA, the Middle East (Abu Dhabi, Jordan), WTI spot crude oil price, and US dollar index were daily returns in the research period from May 21, 2001 to August 9, 2012. Following Hansen (1999), the panel threshold regression model was used. Results – With the US dollar index as the threshold variable, a negative relationship existed between the stock price indices of Jordan and the USA but no significant result was found between the stock price indices of Abu Dhabi and the USA. Conclusions – The USA is an economic power today:even if it has a closer relationship with the US stock market, the dynamic US economy can learn about subsequent developments and plan in advance. Conversely, if it has an estranged relationship with the US stock market, thinking in a different direction and different investment strategies will achieve good results
The Impact of Investor Sentiment on Energy and Stock Markets-Evidence : China and Hong Kong

Purpose - The oil price affects company value, which is the present value of the expected cash flow, by affecting the discount rate and cash flow. This study examines the nonlinear relationships between oil price and stock price using the AlphaShares Chinese Volatility Index as the threshold. Research design, data, and methodology – Data comprise daily closing values of the Shanghai Stock Exchange Composite Index, Shenzhen Stock Exchange Composite Index, and Hang Seng Index of ChinaWest Texas Intermediate crude oil spot price and AlphaShares Chinese Volatility Index from May 25, 2007 to May 24, 2012. The Threshold Error Correction Model is used. Results - The results demonstrate different relationships between the stock price index and oil price under different investor sentiments; however, the stock price index and oil price could adjust to a long-term equilibrium the long-term causality tests between them were all significant. Conclusions - The relationship between the WTI and HANG SENG Index is more significant than the Shanghai Composites Index and Shenzhen Composite Index, when using the AlphaShares Chinese Volatility Index (ASC-VIX) as the investor sentiment variable and threshold.

<P>A direct insulator-quantum Hall (I-QH) transition corresponds to a crossover/transition from the insulating regime to a high Landau level filling factor ν > 2 QH state. Such a transition has been attracting a great deal of both experimental and theoretical interests. In this study, we present three different two-dimensional electron systems (2DESs) which are in the vicinity of nanoscaled scatterers. All these three devices exhibit a direct I-QH transition, and the transport properties under different nanaoscaled scatterers are discussed.</P>
Oleanane-triterpenoids from Panax stipuleanatus inhibit NF-κB

In continuation of our research to find biological components from Panax stipuleanatus, four oleanane-type triterpenes (12 to 15) were isolated successively. Fifteen oleanane-type saponins (1 to 15) were evaluated for nuclear factor (NF)-${\kappa}B$ activity using a luciferase reporter gene assay in HepG2 cells. Compounds 6 to 11 inhibited NF-${\kappa}B$, with $IC_{50}$ values between 3.1 to 18.9 ${\mu}M$. The effects on inducible nitric oxide synthase and cyclooxygenase-2 by compounds 8, 10, and 11 were also examined using reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction. Three compounds (8, 10, and 11) inhibited NF-${\kappa}B$ activity by reducing the concentration of inflammatory factors in HepG2 cells.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Doubly ordered double perovskites with AAʹBBʹO<SUB>6</SUB> stoichiometry are promising new host materials for Eu<SUP>3+</SUP> activator ions. In this paper, double perovskite (Na,Li)YMg(W,Mo)O<SUB>6</SUB>:Eu<SUP>3+</SUP> phosphors were synthesized by a high-temperature solid-state method and the effect of cation substitutions in this series of monoclinic-type NaYMgWO<SUB>6</SUB> compounds was investigated in order to control the photoluminescence properties. The composition modulation and structural evolution of (Na,Li)YMg(W,Mo)O<SUB>6</SUB>:Eu<SUP>3+</SUP> were studied by powder X-ray diffraction and Rietveld refinement. The microstructure and composition of the phosphor materials were characterized by transmission electron microscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. All compounds' photoluminescence properties were measured, and the luminescence properties were related to the structural properties of the materials. The (Na,Li)YMg(W,Mo)O<SUB>6</SUB>:Eu<SUP>3+</SUP> phosphors emit intense red light dominated by the <SUP>5</SUP>D<SUB>0</SUB>→<SUP>7</SUP>F<SUB>2</SUB> transition at ∼618 nm, along with other characteristic transitions from Eu<SUP>3+</SUP> 4f-4f transitions when excited at ∼395 nm and ∼466 nm. The red emission intensity of Eu<SUP>3+</SUP> reaches a maximum for LiYMgW<SUB>0.9</SUB>Mo<SUB>0.1</SUB>O<SUB>6</SUB>:Eu<SUP>3+</SUP> phosphor, which exhibits high quantum efficiency and excellent thermal stability. Stenotrophomonas ginsengisoli sp. nov., isolated from a ginseng field

<P>A Gram-negative, non-spore-forming, rod-shaped bacterium, designated strain DCY01<SUP>T</SUP>, was isolated from soil from a ginseng field in South Korea and was characterized in order to determine its taxonomic position. 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis revealed that strain DCY01<SUP>T</SUP> belonged to the <I>Gammaproteobacteria</I> and was most closely related to <I>Stenotrophomonas koreensis</I> KCTC 12211<SUP>T</SUP> (98.4 % similarity), <I>Stenotrophomonas humi</I> R-32729<SUP>T</SUP> (97.2 %), <I>Stenotrophomonas terrae</I> R-32768 (97.1 %), <I>Stenotrophomonas maltophilia</I> DSM 50170<SUP>T</SUP> (96.9 %) and <I>Stenotrophomonas nitritireducens</I> DSM 12575<SUP>T</SUP> (96.8 %). Chemotaxonomic analyses revealed that strain DCY01<SUP>T</SUP> possessed a quinone system with Q-8 as the predominant compound, and iso-C15 : 0 (28.2 %), C16 : 0 10<I>-</I>methyl (13.2 %), iso-C15 : 1 F (10.8 %) and C15 : 0 (7.5 %) as major fatty acids, corroborating assignment of strain DCY01<SUP>T</SUP> to the genus <I>Stenotrophomonas</I>. The major polar lipids were phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylglycerol and diphosphatidylglycerol. The results of DNA-DNA hybridization and physiological and biochemical tests clearly demonstrated that strain DCY01<SUP>T</SUP> represents a species distinct from recognized <I>Stenotrophomonas</I> species. Based on these data, DCY01<SUP>T</SUP> (=KCTC 12539<SUP>T</SUP>=NBRC 101154<SUP>T</SUP>) should be classified as the type strain of a novel species of the genus <I>Stenotrophomonas</I>, for which the name <I>Stenotrophomonas ginsengisoli</I> sp. nov. is proposed.</P>
Preparation of Co-ACFs/TiO2 composites and its photodegradation of methylene blue

코발트 적재된 활성탄소섬유(ACFs)는 이산화티탄(TiO₂) 광촉매 반응을 촉진시키는 것을 발전되었다. Co-ACFs/TiO₂ 광촉매는 SEM, XRD, EDX 및 UV-vis 분광기를 사용하여 분석하였다. Co-ACFs/TiO₂ 광촉매에 대한 메틸렌불루(MB)의 분해 효과는 300분 반응해서 거의 100%를 도달하였다. 용액에 있는 MB 분자들은 ACFs의 흡착 에 의해 TiO₂ 입자의 주위에 응축한다고 가정되었다. 그래서 이 광촉매 복합체는 MB 광분해에 대한 활성탄의 흡착 성과 TiO₂의 광촉매 특성의 결합한 성능을 가지고 있다. 코발트가 전자 천이 효과를 가지고 있기 때문에 MB 용액 의 광분해가 증가되는 것으로 판단된다. Cobalt-loaded activated carbon fibers (ACFs) supported titanium dioxide (TiO₂) photocatalyst was developed by sol-gel method. The Co-ACFs/TiO₂ photocatalyst were characterized by scanning electron microscope (SEM), X‐ray diffraction patterns (XRD), energy dispersive X‐ray analysis (EDX) and UV-vis absorption spectroscopy. Decomposition efficiency of methylene blue (MB) solution by Co-ACFs/TiO₂ photocatalyst reached almost 100% under 300 min reaction. The MB molecules in the bulk solutions were supposed to be condensed around TiO₂ particles by adsorption of ACFs. Therefore, the photocatalyst possesses the combined effect of adsorption by activated carbon fibers and photocatalytic reactivity of TiO₂ on MB degradation. Due to the cobalt has electron transition effece, thus improved the photodegradation of MB solution.

Coronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA) is routinely used for anatomical assessment of coronary artery disease (CAD). However, invasive measurement of fractional flow reserve (FFR) is the current gold standard for the diagnosis of hemodynamically significant CAD. CT-derived FFRCT and CT perfusion are two emerging techniques that can provide a functional assessment of CAD for risk stratification and clinical decision making. Several clinical studies have shown that the diagnostic performance of concomitant CCTA and functional CT assessment for detecting hemodynamically significant CAD is at least non-inferior to that of other routinely used imaging modalities. This article aims to review the current clinical evidence and recent developments in functional CT techniques.
