<P>In this letter, we report hydrogel tip attachment onto tipless silicon cantilevers by ultraviolet curing of hydrogel filled into an elastomeric tip mold, for the first time. By mechanically deforming the tip mold or changing the mold design, attachment of various tip shapes is demonstrated. Hybrid atomic force microscope cantilevers of their tip and beam being hydrogel and silicon are used for imaging various inorganic substrates and HeLa cells. Since the hydrogel tip can be selectively removed by piranha solution, hydrogel tip regeneration is also realized by removing the used hydrogel tip and re-attaching a new tip. [2018-0013]</P>
A MODIFIED CAHN–HILLIARD EQUATION FOR 3D VOLUME RECONSTRUCTION FROM TWO PLANAR CROSS SECTIONS

In this paper, we present an implicit method for reconstructing a 3D solid model from two 2D cross section images. The proposed method is based on the Cahn?Hilliard model for the image inpainting. Image inpainting is the process of reconstructing lost parts of images based on information from neighboring areas. We treat the empty region between the two cross sections as inpainting region and use two cross sections as neighboring information. We initialize the empty region by the linear interpolation. We perform numerical experiments demonstrating that our proposed method can generate a smooth 3D solid model from two cross section data.

Although osteoporosis and osteoarthritis have different symptoms, there is the common feature that both have high prevalence rate among adult women. However, it is challenging to receive a cost-effective and consistent diagnosis for bone-related diseases, since it is expensive to take MRI or CT examinations of osteoporosis and the measurement instruments for osteoarthritis provide divergent criteria for bone density. In this study, we propose a predictive model for diagnosing osteoarthritis and osteoporosis in women based on Artificial Intelligence algorithms using health survey data. Three Artificial Intelligence algorithms, such as Logistic Regression, Random Forest Classifier, and eXtreme Gradient Boosting machine, are considered for our provided prediction models. Because the health survey data we used is imbalanced, under-sampling technique was applied to improve the model’s performance. In addition, various feature sets were selected to reduce the dimensionality of independent variables. We identified that the prediction model based on the eXtreme Gradient Boosting machine algorithm, which uses the dataset applied by under-sampling method, exhibits the best performance.

군사용 목적으로 만들어진 GPS가 1990년대에 민간에 개방됨에 따라 차량 항법, 항공기, 통신, 과학, 농업, 탐사 등에 이르는 산업에 폭넓게 이용되고 있다. 하지만, GPS는 미국이 독점적으로 운영하고 있기 때문에 세계 각국은 안보문제에 우려를 나타내고 있는 실정이다. 또한 우리나라와 같이 산악 지형 및 도심이 발달한 지역은 GPS 단독 사용 시에 여러 가지 제약점을 가진다. 이러한 점들을 해결하기 위해 주위의 여러 나라들은 새로운 항법 체계를 구상 중에 있다. 이러한 국제적 추세에 대비하여 우리나라도 지역 항법 시스템 구축에 대해서 검토가 필요하다고 판단된다. 본 논문에서는 우리나라 지역 특성을 고려하여 고앙각의 통신서비스를 제공하며, 독자적 항법 능력을 가진 지역 위성 항법시스템의 위성 궤도를 여러 가지 고려사항을 구속조건으로 하여 설계하였다. 최종 설계된 위성항법시스템의 독자 항법 성능뿐만 아니라 부가적으로 GPS를 보강하는 성능도 우수함을 확인하였다. In 1990, GPS which had been developed for the military purposes became available to the civilian community. Since then these satellite navigation systems have been used extensively in the industrial areas such as car navigation, airplanes, communications, science and surveying. If we are dependent on GPS, however, there are some foreseeable problems in the areas of national security and sovereignty. Current GPS satellite constellation provides limited performance for the country like Korea and Japan where mountain area and urban canyon do not allow the wide skyline. To solve these problems, many countries plan to make other alternative navigation systems. In this paper, RNSS(Regional Navigation Satellite System) is designed to provide communication service with high elevation angle. It is shown, that system does not only have good navigation performance, but also improve GPS performance in Korea and its neighboring areas.

이 논문은 인공지능(AI)과 빅데이터를 활용하여 비정형 농산물인 고추의 재고 및 품질 관리 시스템을 개발하고자 한다. 이 시스템은 고추의 수입, 적재, 보관 및 판매 데이터를 실시간으로 수집하고 분석하여, 농산물의 수요 및 공급을 효율적으로 조절하고 품질을 정밀하게 평가한다. 이를 통해 농산물의 생산 및 유통 과정이 최적화되어 비용 절감과 품질 향상이 기대된다. This paper aims to develop an inventory and quality management system for non-standard agricultural products, specifically chili peppers, utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) and big data. This system collects and analyzes data on the import, storage, and sales of chili peppers in real-time, enabling efficient regulation of supply and demand and precise quality assessment. As a result, the production and distribution processes of agricultural products are expected to be optimized, reducing costs and improving quality.
