Predictors of negative emotional reactions in physical educators

Emotional reactions by physical educators to challenging learner behaviors is a topic that has surfaced as important given the preference for more integrated educational contexts for children with disabilities. The current study examines predictors of negative emotional reactions in a culturally diverse sample of physical educators (N = 335). Findings suggest that three dimensions of emotional reactions (explaining 50% of the variability) existed in physical educators' response to aggressive challenging behavior. Further, when fear/anxiety emotional reaction factor was regressed on demographic, training, and self-efficacy scores and resulted in a significant model, F(7, 327) = 8.12, p < .001, R² = 15. However, the lone significant predictor of negative emotional reactions was teacher self-efficacy (β = -.35, P < .001).
Pile in the Unsaturated Cracked Substrate with Reliability Assessment based on Neural Networks

In this study, we present reliability assessments for a monopile socketed into a vertical fissured unsaturated substrate correlated with the degree of saturation. The pile was loaded by concentrated lateral force in a three-dimensional space. Procedures were prepared in the numerical analysis software FLAC 3D, fast lagrangian analysis of continua. FISH, a scripting language embedded within FLAC, was used to control the depth of cracks in unsaturated soil and manage a significant number of the calculations. The presented approach expands knowledge about piles loaded laterally and also the considerable influence of environmental changes. In the reliability part of the study, the excessive horizontal displacement of the pile head was examined as an implicit function. The analytical model of vertical water flux in the partially saturated soil was applied in connection with the iterative solution of the cracked depth of the substrate. The suction profile was estimated for a layer above the groundwater level. An important aspect of this paper is that the reliability analyses were prepared for this task in complex environmental conditions and with a horizontal load. All limit state functions were approximated following the response surface methodology, which was defined by neural networks based on modified perceptrons and was compared with well-known polynomials functions.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the judgments of South Korean college students about inclusion and teaching students with disabilities before and after matriculation in adapted physical activity courses. Participants were undergraduate students at universities in South Korea. The research method was a Pretest-Posttest Nonequivalent Comparison Group Design. Data were collected using a survey scale (Son, Kozub, Noh, & Jun, 2006). There were 471 pretest and 478 posttest surveys returned. At pretest, there were no differences (p > .01) in the attitudes of participants as a function of their gender, direct contact, major or previous experiences. However, group differences were found in posttest scores as a function of academic major and past experiences teaching individuals with disabilities. Favorable shifts in judgments tend to occur when individuals are given credible evidence about and afforded opportunities to teach students with disabilities under favorable conditions (Allport, 1954). The findings and implications are discussed.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P><P>We have studied the current–voltage (<I>I</I>–<I>V</I>) characteristics of polydiacetylene (PDA) thin films in the temperature region 300–1.7 K. It was found that at electric fields higher than 2×10<SUP>4</SUP> V/cm, the <I>I</I>–<I>V</I> characteristics are strongly super-linear with negative temperature coefficient of starting voltage. Negative gate voltage increases the source-drain current (the effect is more pronounced at low temperature), whereas the magnetic field up to 7 T does not affect it. The results demonstrate that at low temperature the charge transport is mainly supported due to a charge injection and tunneling from the metallic banks, whereas at higher temperatures the activation energy is related to the band gap mismatch between the different polymer chains or granules.</P>
First spin-parity constraint of the 306 keV resonance in Cl35 for nova nucleosynthesis

<P>Of particular interest in astrophysics is the S-34(p,gamma) Cl-35 reaction, which serves as a stepping stone in thermonuclear runaway reaction chains during a nova explosion. Though the isotopes involved are all stable, the reaction rate of this significant step is not well known, due to a lack of experimental spectroscopic information on states within the Gamow window above the proton separation threshold of Cl-35. Measurements of level spins and parities provide input for the calculation of resonance strengths, which ultimately determine the astrophysical reaction rate of the S-34(p,gamma)Cl-35 proton capture reaction. By performing the Cl-37( p,t)Cl-35 reaction in normal kinematics at the Holifield Radioactive Ion Beam Facility at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, we have conducted a study of the region of astrophysical interest in Cl-35, and have made the first-ever constraint on the spin and parity assignment for a level at 6677 +/- 15 keV (E-r = 306 keV), inside the Gamow window for novae.</P>

Low-temperature saturation of dephasing in heavily doped conjugated polymers

Based on our low temperature (down to 0.5 K) electronic transport studies of heavily doped polyacetylene and magnetotransportresults reported for other heavily doped conjugated polymers, we demonstrate that the low-temperature saturation of electrondephasing found for metallic and semiconducting materials is also exhibited in conducting polymers. Such behavior explained by amodel, which involves electron dephasing by two-level systems of a special type originating from initially symmetric defect con-gurations where the symmetry is partially lifted by disorder.

Proton Decay of 21Na for 20Ne Energy Levels

The 24Mg(p,α)21Na transfer reaction has been previously studied for a spectroscopic study of 21Na [Cha et al., Phys. Rev. C 96, 025810 (2017)]. In this follow-up analysis, the proton decays of the excited states of the radionuclide 21Na, which were measured simultaneously, are reported. By investigating the coincidence between the reaction α-particles and decay protons, we were able to identify three groups of events that are associated with the energy levels in 20Ne. The 20Ne excitation energy plot was obtained as a result. The four lowest known energy levels in 20Ne (the ground state and excited states at Ex = 1.633, 4.247 and 4.966 MeV) were clearly observed.
