An Approach for the Estimation of NPS Pollutant Discharge

The pollutant generation and discharge rates from the nonpoint sources(NPS) in selected areas were evaluated. An urban area as well as a typical agricultural area with feedlot farming region were considered for evaluation. The pollutant generation rate from the NPS in urban area was estimated as 4,822 ㎏COD/ha/year, 24,651 ㎏SS/ha/year, 203 ㎏T-N/ha/year, and 56 ㎏T-P/ha/year. Approximately 47% of the pollutants was discharged to the Han River during the flooding season of July to August. The NPS pollutant discharge rates from the urban area to the Han river were computed as 98 ㎏ COD/ha/year, 1,437 ㎏SS/ha/year, 76 ㎏T-N/ha/year, and 1.22 ㎏ T-P/ha/year, which were significantly less than the generation rates. The pollutant: generation rates fron the NPS in agricultural area was estimated as 53 ㎏BOD/ha/year, 175 ㎏COD/ha/year, 51 ㎏SS/ha/year, 12.6 ㎏T-N/ha/year. and 8.1 ㎏T-P/ha/year. The feedlot farming region in the agricultural area generated similar amount of pollutants per unit area compared to the urban area.

The Korean Dementia Association (KDA) has been organizing biennial international academic conferences since 2019, with the International Conference of the KDA (IC-KDA) 2023 held in Busan under the theme 'Beyond Boundaries: Advancing Global Dementia Solutions.' The conference comprised 6 scientific sessions, 3 plenary lectures, and 4 luncheon symposiums, drawing 804 participants from 35 countries. Notably, a Korea-Taiwan Joint Symposium addressed insights into Alzheimer's disease (AD). Plenary lectures by renowned scholars explored topics such as microbiome-related AD pathogenesis, social cognition in neurodegenerative diseases, and genetic frontotemporal dementia (FTD). On the first day, specific presentations covered subjects like the gut-brain axis and neuroinflammation in dementia, blood-based biomarkers in AD, and updates in AD therapeutics. The second day's presentations addressed recent issues in clinical neuropsychology, FTD cohort studies, and the pathogenesis of non-AD dementia. The Academic Committee of the KDA compiles lecture summaries to provide comprehensive understanding of the advanced dementia knowledge presented at IC-KDA 2023.
방목 초지에서 우분퇴비 시용이 목초의 무기성분 함량에 미치는 영향

본 시험은 2003년부터 2005년까지 방목 혼파초지에 우분퇴비 시용에 따른 사초의 무기성분 함량변화를 구명하기 위하여 난지농업연구소 조사료포장에서 수행되었다. T1) 화학비료 100%, T2) 화학비료 50% + 퇴비 50%, T3) 화학비료 25% + 퇴비 75%, T4) 퇴비 100%, T5) 퇴비 100%(1년차) + 화학비료 100%(2년차) + 퇴비 100% (3년차), T6) 퇴비 100% (1년차) + 화학비료 100% (2년차) + 화학비료 100% (3년차)로 처리를 두어 우분퇴비 시용이 혼파초지의 다량무기성분 함량변화에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. 연간 총 건물수량을 비교해보면 시험1년차에는 T1 처리구가 11,342 ㎏/ha, 시험2년차에는 T5 처리구가 13,468 ㎏/ha, 3년차는 T6 처리구가 10,724 ㎏/ha로 가장 높은 수량을 보였으며 시험기간 동안 평균 건물수량은 화학비료구가 11,486 ㎏/ha으로 가장 높은 건물생산성을 보였지만 처리 간 유의성은 없었다. 식물체의 다량무기물 함량은 목초의 K 함량에서 T4 (우분퇴비 100%구) 처리구에서 높았으며 (p<0.05), 년차가 진행될수록 함량이 다소 증가되는 경향을 보였다. 식물체의 Ca 함량도 T3 (화학비료 25% + 우분퇴비 75%구) 처리구에서 3년 모두 일정하게 다른 처리보다 높았으며 통계적으로 유의차가 인정되었다 (p<0.05). 목초의 Ca 및 Mg 함량은 모든 처리 일정하게 조사기간 3년 동안 2003년에 가장 높았고 2005년, 2004년 순으로 함량이 감소되었다. 목초의 Na 함량은 모든 처리 일정하게 Ca과 Mg 함량과 반대되는 경향을 보이고 있었다. 결론적으로 우분퇴비의 시용은 목초내 다량무기성분에 있어서 결핍이나 과다함유되지 않았으며, 가축이 섭취하는 데 있어 안전하다고 사료된다. This experiment was conducted to investigate the effect of cattle manure application on macro contents change in pasture. The treatment consisted of T1: 100% chemical fertilizer (CF 100%), T2: 50% CF + 50% cattle manure (CM), T3: 25% CF+75% CM, T4: 100% CM 100%, T5: 100% CM(1st year (yr.) + 100% CF (2nd yr.) + 100% CM (3rd yr.), T6: 100% CM (1st yr.) + 100% CF (2nd yr.) + 100% CF (3rd yr.). The highest substitution effect of chemical fertilizer with cattle manure indicated by the highest yield of 11,169 ㎏/ha was obtained from the application of 100% CM (1 yr.) + 100% CF (2 yr.). The forage yield of plots applied with 100% CM (1 yr.) + 100% CF(2 yr.) was only 4% more than the yield of plots applied with 100% CM. It was only 3% less than the yield of plots applied with 100% CF. In this study, cattle manure application recorded slightly lower forage dry matter (DM) yield than 100% CF application but they were statistically comparable on the third year of production. The all treatments have narrow range of P, K, Ca, Mg and Na contents 0.25~0.32%, 3.08~3.71%, 0.42~0.55%, 0.21~0.38% and 0.08~0.15%.

<B>ABSTRACT</B><P>Tuberculosis subunit vaccines codelivered with interleukin-12 (IL-12)-encapsulated microspheres (IL-12EM) are designed for a sustained release of IL-12 and could induce strong Th1 immune responses specific to Ag85A and ESAT-6. The adjuvant combination of IL-12EM plus AS01B was a more efficient way to induce a sustained Th1 immunity and protection against <I>Mycobacterium tuberculosis.</I></P>
