        연구논문 : 안철수 현상이 서울시장 보궐선거에 미친 영향; 미디어 노출 횟수를 통한 후보들의 인지도를 중심으로

        이 논문은 2011년 10월 26일 서울시장 보궐선거에서 나타난 안철수 열풍이 여야 후보자들의 인지도에 어떠한 영향을 미쳤는지를 측정할 수 있는 계량적 방법을 제시하고 그 영향력을 측정한다. 곧 언론에 보도된 주요 인물들의 기사 건수를 자료로 삼아 아리마(ARIMA)분석기법을 사용하여 후보들을 나는 시계열로, 다른 주요 인물들을 드는 시계열로 삼아 여러 변수 아리마 모형을 만들어 그 영향력을 분석하였다. 그 결과 안철수의 영향력은 박근혜 영향력의 한 배 반 이상으로 나타났다. 박근혜는 나경원 후보의 인지도 증가에만 영향을 미치지만, 안철수는 박원순 후보에게는 인지도 증가뿐만아니라 나경원 후보의 인지도 감소에도 영향을 미치고 있다는 것을 추론할 수 있었다. 이 논문은 후보자 중심의 연구에서 벗어나 제 3의 인물이 선거 과정에 미친 영향력을 연구하는 시발점이 되었다는 점에서 정치 연구의 지평을 넓히고 있고, 제3의 인물이 선거판에 미친 영향을 단지 막연한 추측에서 벗어나 과학적으로 측정하고 분석할 수 있는 방법을 제시하였다는 점에 그 의의가 있다. This paper attempts to express, in the quantitative terms, the influence of Chul-Soo Ahn and Keun-Hye Park on the Mayoral Election of Seoul to fill a vacancy. We test some quantitative methods to measure the influence of the third influential person on the voter`s cognition of the candidates, and discuss the advantages of the Multivariate ARIMA(MARIMA) modeling techniques to excavate the influence. Based on the relations among the empirical data, MARIMA models were made, and compared Chul Soo Ahn`s influence with Keun-Hye Park`s influence. From the models, we infer that Ahn`s influence might be more than one-and-a-half times of Park`s in the election. This paper contributes to developing a quantitative method to find out the third person`s influence on the candidates, and stimulates the study of the third person`s influence in the electoral process.

        Development of a Molecular Marker Linked to the A4 Locus and the Structure of HD Genes in Pleurotus eryngii

        Allelic differences in A and B mating-type loci are a prerequisite for the progression of mating in the genus Pleurotus eryngii; thus, the crossing is hampered by this biological barrier in inbreeding. Molecular markers linked to mating types of P. eryngii KNR2312 were investigated with randomly amplified polymorphic DNA to enhance crossing efficiency. An A4-linked sequence was identified and used to find the adjacent genomic region with the entire motif of the A locus from a contig sequenced by PacBio. The sequence-characterized amplified region marker 7-2<sub>299</sub> distinguished A4 mating-type monokaryons from KNR2312 and other strains. A BLAST search of flanked sequences revealed that the A4 locus had a general feature consisting of the putative HD1 and HD2 genes. Both putative HD transcription factors contain a homeodomain sequence and a nuclear localization sequence; however, valid dimerization motifs were found only in the HD1 protein. The ACAAT motif, which was reported to have relevance to sex determination, was found in the intergenic region. The SCAR marker could be applicable in the classification of mating types in the P. eryngii breeding program, and the A4 locus could be the basis for a multi-allele detection marker.

        Sequence-independent, single-primer amplification next-generation sequencing of Hantaan virus cell culture—based isolates

        <P>Hantaan virus (HTNV), identified in the striped field mouse (Apodemus agrarius), belongs to the genus Hantavirus of the family Bunyaviridae and contains tripartite RNA genomes, small (S), medium (M), and large (L) segments. HTNV is a major causative for hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS) with fatality rates ranging from 1% to 15% in the Republic of Korea (ROK) and China. Defining of HTNV whole-genome sequences and isolation of the infectious particle play a critical role in the characterization and preventive and therapeutic strategies of hantavirus outbreaks. Next-generation sequencing (NGS) provides an advanced tool for massive genomic sequencing of viruses. However, the isolation of viral infectious particles is a huge obstacle to investigate and develop anti-virals for hantaviruses. Here, we report 12 HTNV isolates from lung tissues of the striped field mouse in the highly HFRS-endemic areas. Sequence-independent, single-primer amplification (SISPA) NGS was attempted to recover the genomic sequences of HTNV isolates. The nucleotide sequence of HTNV S, M, and L segments were covered up to 99.4-100%, 97.5-100%, and 95.6-99.8%, respectively, based on the full length of the prototype HTNV 76-118. The whole-genome sequencing of HTNV isolates was accomplished by additional reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and rapid amplification cDNA ends (RACE) PCR. In conclusion, this study will lead to the attempt and usage of SISPA NGS technologies to delineate the whole-genome sequence of hantaviruses, providing a new era of viral genomics for the surveillance, trace, and disease risk management of HFRS incidents.</P>

        Historical Medical Value of Donguibogam

        Oriental medicine, since its origin in China, has had a long history extending over 2000 years. Today, it comprises several types of medicine predominately practiced in East Asia, including traditional Chinese, traditional Korean, and Kampo medicine. The distinctive medical system of traditional Korean medicine was established shortly after the publication of Donguibogam by Dr. Heo Jun in 1613. Donguibogam is highly acclaimed across East Asia; in 2009, in light of its historical medical value, the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization registered the book on its cultural heritage list. Here, we review the historical medical value of Donguibogam. The findings confirm that Donguibogam developed a unique and independent form of traditional Korean medicine and innovatively reformed the disease classification system. Moreover, Donguibogam emphasized the importance of disease prevention and medical pragmatism. This book also accelerated the development of folk medicine. Owing to its historical medical value, Donguibogam is now considered the 'bible' of Oriental medicine. Its wide acceptance has contributed to the expansion of Korean medicine utilization among the general public. Donguibogam has also played an important role in the establishment of traditional Korean medicine as a universally valid and original form of medicine, independent of traditional Chinese medicine.

        Is there a trade-off between social expenditure and defense expenditure in the USA ? : 미국 연방 예산을 중심으로

        1940년부터 1999년까지의 미국의 연방 지출 예산을 가지고 박스-젠킨스의 아리마 모형짓기 기법을 사용하여 사회 예산과 국방 예산 사이에 상쇄 관계가 있는지를 분석한 논문이다. 이 논문에서는 예산 증가분에 관한 한 변수 모형들(univariate models)로부터 예산에 영향을 미치는 요인으로서 1년의 시차와 3년의 시차를 발견하는데, 앞의 것은 예산 과정상에 내재하는 점증주의적 영향에 관한 증거로 해석하며, 뒤의 것은 선거 주기가 미치는 영향으로 추정한다. 반면에, 예산 증가율에 관한 한 변수 모형들에서는 5년의 시차가 나타나는 바, 그 원인을 8년 또는 4년만에 바뀌는 미국 대통령 직의 불규칙적인 변동으로 추정하고 있다. 한편, 두 예산 변수를 사용하여 만든 여러 변수 모형(multivariate models)에서는 총과 빵 이론을 지지해 주는 분석 결과를 보여 준다. 곧, 증가분 모형에서는 국방 예산 증가분의 6%만큼 사회 예산이 감소하는 상쇄 관계를 보여 주며, 증가율 모형에서는 국방 예산이 1% 증가하면 사회 예산이 국방 예산의 0.53% 감소함을 보여 준다. 이러한 분석 결과는 보수와 진보를 표방하는 미국의 양당 제도에 비추어 볼 때, 복지와 국방의 잇슈 대결에 필요한 근거를 제시해 준다는 점에서 현실적 정책적 함의를 찾을 수 있으며, 예산의 할당에 선거 주기나 대통령 직의 변동 등 정치적 요인들이 영향을 미칠 것이라는 점을 강력히 시사함으로써 단순한 총과 빵의 대체 여부에 관한 논의에서 벗어나 이론적 논의의 외연을 확대시켰다는 점에서 학술적으로 이바지하고 있다. This paper addresses to find out the trade-off between social expenditure and defense expenditure in the US federal budget during the period of 1940 to 1999. Criticizing and discussing the foregone literatures in terms of their data form and methodology, 1 argue relevant statistical methods such as temporal modeling technique be needed to find out lag structures and we investigate the reason for the structures to develop the theoretical discussions ignored heretofore surrounding "gun and butter theory." I made proper time series models by employing Box-Jenkins ARIMA modeling procedure, and analyzed the lag structures of both expenditures. As a result, univariate models for both expenditures provided us with an evidence for the incrementalism in the budgetary process, and also showed three year time lag in the amount increased models and five year time lag in the rate change models, for which I conjecture the reason such as an effect of election cycle or irregular turn-over of the Presidential occupancy. Using multivariate ARIMA modeling technique, I found the warfare-welfare trade-off not only in the changed amount model, but also in the rate change model. The research finding strongly supports "gun and butter theory," and suggests that defense budget be reduced if you want to provide people with more social services.

        Hospital-based Influenza Morbidity and Mortality (HIMM) Surveillance for A/H7N9 Influenza Virus Infection in Returning Travelers

        <P>Since 2013, the Hospital-based Influenza Morbidity and Mortality (HIMM) surveillance system began a H7N9 influenza surveillance scheme for returning travelers in addition to pre-existing emergency room (ER)-based influenza-like illness (ILI) surveillance and severe acute respiratory infection (SARI) surveillance. Although limited to eastern China, avian A/H7N9 influenza virus is considered to have the highest pandemic potential among currently circulating influenza viruses. During the study period between October 1st, 2013 and April 30th, 2016, 11 cases presented with ILI within seven days of travel return. These patients visited China, Hong Kong, or neighboring Southeast Asian countries, but none of them visited a livestock market. Seasonal influenza virus (54.5%, 6 among 11) was the most common cause of ILI among returning travelers, and avian A/H7N9 influenza virus was not detected during the study period.</P>

        A Case of Paederus Dermatitis

        Paederus dermatitis is a characteristic irritant contact dermatitis caused by paederin which is a chemical substance released by insects of the genus Paederus. Erythematous vesiculobullous eruption with a burning sensation occur within 24 hours after contact with Paederus. This dermatitis is frequently seen in regions with hot, tropical climates such as Africa and the Middle East. There have been a few reports of Paederus dermatitis in Korea. We recently had a patient with Paederus dermatitis who traveled to Kenya. We would like to highlight an awareness of this peculiar dermatitis due to the increasing numbers of travelers visiting tropical countries. (Ann Dermatol (Seoul) 19(2) 88~90, 2007)

        Genotypic and Phenotypic Characterization of Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus Isolated from Bovine Mastitic Milk in Korea

        <B>ABSTRACT</B><P>Staphylococcus aureus is a major etiological pathogen for bovine mastitis, foodborne illness, and various clinical infections. Methicillin-resistant S. aureus (MRSA) has been isolated from bovine mastitic milk, and the presence of MRSA in milk is a major public health concern. We investigated the frequency of MRSA isolation from mastitic raw milk in Korea and characterized the patterns of antimicrobial resistance, virulence, and genotypes of the MRSA isolates. A total of 1,222 raw milk samples were collected from 47 dairy farms in Gyeonggi province from 2011 to 2012. Of these samples, 649 were considered mastitic milk based on somatic cell counts of more than 200,000 cells per ml, and 165 S. aureus isolates (from 25.4% of samples) were obtained from these samples. Of these isolates, 23 (13.9%) collected from five farms were confirmed as MRSA by detection of the mecA gene. Disk diffusion and MIC tests for antibiotic resistance revealed that all MRSA isolates were resistant to four or more antimicrobial agents. All MRSA isolates had staphylococcal enterotoxin genes, and two clusters of these genes were identified: seg-sei-sek-sem-sen-seo (20 isolates, 87%) and sed-seg-sei-sej-sem-sen-seo (3 isolates, 13%). Each MRSA-positive farm had only one spa-SCCmec type. Nine MRSA isolates (39.1%) with the t324-IVa genotype, which is related to community-acquired MRSA infection, were isolated from three dairy farms. Additional genotypes of t148-IVa and t002-II were detected and related to human MRSA strains. Most MRSA isolates had distinct pulsed-field gel electrophoresis subtypes, indicating they were not the same clones. Only two isolates collected from the same farm during different years had an identical electrophoresis type, indicating persistence of the clone at this farm. Taken together, these findings may indicate an increased virulence and risk of MRSA strains on dairy farms. Therefore, an efficient surveillance and control program is needed to prevent the transmission of MRSA from animals to humans.</P>
