Purpose: To compare the effect of vitamin K2 and risedronate on trabecular bone in glucocorticoid (GC)-treated rats. Materials and Methods: Forty-eight Sprague-Dawley female rats, 3 months of age, were randomized by the stratified weight method into 5 groups according to the following treatment schedule: age-matched control, GC administration, and GC administration with concomitant administration of vitamin K2, risedronate, or vitamin K2 + risedronate. GC (methylprednisolone sodium succinate, 5.0 mg/kg) and risedronate (10 μg/kg) were administered subcutaneously three and five times a week, respectively. Vitamin K2 (menatetrenone, 30 mg/kg) was administered orally three times a week. At the end of the 8-week experiment, bone histomorphometric analysis was performed on trabecular bone of the tibial proximal metaphysis. Results: GC administration decreased trabecular bone mass compared with age-matched controls because of decreased bone formation (mineralizing surface, mineral apposition rate, and bone formation rate) and increased bone erosion. Vitamin K2 attenuated GC-induced trabecular bone loss by preventing GC-induced decrease in bone formation (mineralizing surface) and subsequently reducing GC-induced increase in bone erosion. Risedronate prevented GC-induced trabecular bone loss by preventing GC-induced increase in bone erosion although it also suppressed bone formation (mineralizing surface, mineral apposition rate, and bone formation rate). Vitamin K2 mildly attenuated suppression of bone formation (mineralizing surface) and bone erosion caused by risedronate without affecting trabecular bone mass when administered in combination. Conclusion: The present study showed differential effect of vitamin K2 and risedronate on trabecular bone in GC-treated rats. <P> We have measured a proton energy from the stopped K- reaction on 4 He to search for strange tribaryon states at KEK 12 GeV PS. No statistically significant signal was observed in the missing mass spectrum obtained by the inclusive 4 He ( stopped K-, p) measurement. Upper limits of the formation branching ratio at the 95 % C.L. were derived for neutral tribaryon states with strangeness -1 to be (0.4 ~ 6) × 10-4, (0.2 ~ 6) × 10-3 and (0.06 ~ 5) × 10-2/(stopped K-) for assumed natural widths of 0, 20 and 40 MeV /c2, respectively. </P>

The purpose of this study was to clarify the differential effect of vitamin K and vitamin D supplementation on bone mass in young rats fed a normal or low calcium diet. Ninety female Sprague-Dawley rats, 6 weeks of age, were randomized by stratified weight method into nine groups with 10 rats in each group: baseline control, and 0.5% (normal) or 0.1% (low) calcium diet, either alone, or with vitamin K (30 mg/100g, food intake), vitamin D (25μg/100g, food intake), or vitamin K+ vitamin D. After 10 weeks of feeding, bone histomorphometric analyses were performed on cortical bone of the tibial shaft and cancellous bone of the proximal tibia. Vitamin K supplementation increased the maturation-related cancellous bone gain and retarded the reduction in the maturation-related cortical bone gain in rats fed a low calcium diet, and increased the maturation-related cortical bone gain in rats fed a normal calcium diet. Vitamin D supplementation reduced the maturation-related cancellous bone gain, prevented the reduction in periosteal bone gain, and enhanced the enlargement of the marrow cavity, with no significant effect on the reduction in the maturation-related cortical bone gain in rats fed a low calcium diet, and increased the maturation- related cancellous and cortical bone gains with increased periosteal bone gain in rats fed a normal calcium diet. An additive effect of vitamin K and vitamin D on the maturation- related cortical bone gain was found in rats fed a normal calcium diet. This study shows the differential effects of vitamin K and vitamin D supplementation on cancellous and cortical bone mass in young rats fed a normal or low calcium diet, as well as the additive effect on cortical bone under calcium sufficient condition.

<P>Recently, two consecutive phase transitions were observed, upon cooling, in an antiferromagnetic spinel GeNi2O4 at <I>T</I><I>N</I>1=12.1 K and <I>T</I><I>N</I>2=11.4 K, respectively (Crawford M. K. <I>et al</I>., <I>Phys. Rev. B</I>, <B>68</B> (2003) 220408(R)). Using unpolarized and polarized elastic neutron scattering we show that the two transitions are due to the existence of frustrated minority spins in this compound. Upon cooling, at <I>T</I><I>N</I>1 the spins on the 〈111〉 kagome planes order ferromagnetically in the plane and antiferromagnetically between the planes (phase I), leaving the spins on the 〈111〉 triangular planes that separate the kagome planes frustrated and disordered. At the lower <I>T</I><I>N</I>2, the triangular spins also order in the 〈111〉 plane (phase II). We also present a scenario involving exchange interactions that qualitatively explains the origin of the two purely magnetic phase transitions.</P>

<P>We report a novel soft chemical synthesis method, water assisted solid state reaction (WASSR) method. This method is very simple and can synthesize many ceramic materials just by storing or mixing raw materials added a small amount of water in a reactor at low temperature below 373 K. For example, well-crystalline SrMoO4 was obtained using the WASSR method.</P>
Situation Recognition from Behavior Logs in Caregiving Services
K. Sato,K. Kobayashi,K. Hiraishi 대한전자공학회 2015 ITC-CSCC :International Technical Conference on Ci Vol.2015 No.6
Recently, many researchers attempt to introduce ICT devices into caregiving services. One of the benefits of using ICT devices is that use logs are automatically collected from the devices, and valuable information for improving the work can be extracted from them. In this paper, we propose a method for extracting operating situations from the logs based on situation awareness techniques. The proposed method is applied to logs collected during the field experiments. The result is examined by visualizing the time series of situations.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>We established a method to assay 210Pb and 210Po contaminations in the bulk of copper samples using a low-background alpha particle counter. The achieved sensitivity for the 210Pb and 210Po contaminations reaches a few mBq/kg. Due to this high sensitivity, the 210Pb and 210Po contaminations in oxygen free copper bulk were identified and measured for the first time. The 210Pb contaminations of our oxygen free copper samples were 17–40 mBq/kg. Based on our investigation of copper samples in each production step, the 210Pb in oxygen free copper was understood to be a small residual of an electrolysis process. This method to measure bulk contaminations of 210Pb and 210Po could be applied to other materials.</P>
Direct dark matter search by annual modulation with 2.7 years of XMASS-I data
Abe, K.,Hiraide, K.,Ichimura, K.,Kishimoto, Y.,Kobayashi, K.,Kobayashi, M.,Moriyama, S.,Nakahata, M.,Norita, T.,Ogawa, H.,Sato, K.,Sekiya, H.,Takachio, O.,Takeda, A.,Tasaka, S.,Yamashita, M.,Yang, B. American Physical Society 2018 Physical Review D Vol.97 No.10
<P>An annual modulation signal due to the Earth orbiting around the Sun would be one of the strongest indications of the direct detection of dark matter. In 2016, we reported a search for dark matter by looking for this annual modulation with our single-phase liquid xenon XMASS-I detector. That analysis resulted in a slightly negative modulation amplitude at low energy. In this work, we included more than one year of additional data, which more than doubles the exposure to 800 live days with the same 832 kg target mass. When we assume weakly interacting massive particle (WIMP) dark matter elastically scattering on the xenon target, the exclusion upper limit for the WIMP-nucleon cross section was improved by a factor of 2 to 1.9 x 10(-41) cm(2) at 8 GeV/c(2) at 90% confidence level with our newly implemented data selection through a likelihood method. For the model-independent case, without assuming any specific dark matter model, we obtained more consistency with the null hypothesis than before with a p-value of 0.11 in the 1-20 keV energy region. This search probed this region with an exposure that was larger than that of DAMA/LIBRA. We also did not find any significant amplitude in the data for periodicity with periods between 50 and 600 days in the energy region between 1 to 6 keV.</P>
Search for dark matter in the form of hidden photons and axion-like particles in the XMASS detector
Abe, K.,Hiraide, K.,Ichimura, K.,Kishimoto, Y.,Kobayashi, K.,Kobayashi, M.,Moriyama, S.,Nakahata, M.,Ogawa, H.,Sato, K.,Sekiya, H.,Suzuki, T.,Takachio, O.,Takeda, A.,Tasaka, S.,Yamashita, M.,Yang, B.S Elsevier 2018 Physics letters: B Vol.787 No.-
<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Hidden photons and axion-like particles are candidates for cold dark matter if they were produced non-thermally in the early universe. We conducted a search for both of these bosons using 800 live-days of data from the XMASS detector with 327 kg of liquid xenon in the fiducial volume. No significant signal was observed, and thus we set constraints on the α ′ / α parameter related to kinetic mixing of hidden photons and the coupling constant g A e of axion-like particles in the mass range from 40 to 120 keV/ c 2 , resulting in α ′ / α < 6 × 10 − 26 and g A e < 4 × 10 − 13 . These limits are the most stringent over this mass range derived from both direct and indirect searches to date.</P>
