Thixoforming, a novel process of manufacturing near net shape components, competes with traditional manufacturing processes by shaping materials while in the semi-solid state. Thixoforming process which has advantages over casting and forging, is now extensively used in automotive parts. And also, this process makes an offer useful processing technique for preparing the composite materials, such as Al alloy composites reinforced with particulates. One of the major issues in fabricating the Al alloy composites reinforced with Si, particulates is to avoid the undesirable interfacial reaction products, such as Al4C3 and Si, which, in general, is formed during the fabrication stage. According to the thermodynamics, the formation of such interfacial reaction products can be supressed with the presence of Si within the composite system. Theoretical calculation of the equilibrium Si contents required to prevent the interfacial reactions in the Al/SiCp composite were performed using various thermodynamic data. Based on the calculated results, there exists a critical temperature, between 603℃ and 621℃, at which sudden increase in the equilibrium Si contents required to prevent the formation of Al4C3. Experimental results showed also a good agreement with theoretical results. Practical applications of these results showed a good agreement with theoretical results. Practical applications of these results, as a means for fabricating the wrought Al alloy composite devoid of Al4C3, and analysing chemical properties are also discussed.

Background: A small subset of adolescents atopic dermatitis (AD) tends to persist. This also leads to get more antibiotics exposure with advancing years. Antibiotic resistance has been regarded as a serious problem during Staphylococcus aureus treatment, especially methicillin-resistant S. aureus (MRSA). Objective: It was investigated the S. aureus colonization frequency in the skin lesions and anterior nares of adolescent AD patients and evaluated the changes in S. aureus antimicrobial susceptibility for years. Methods: Patients who visited our clinic from September 2003 to August 2005 were classified into group A, and patients who visited from August 2010 to March 2012 were classified into group B. To investigate the differences with regard to patients’ age and disease duration, the patients were subdivided into groups according to age. Lesional and nasal specimens were examined. Results: Among the 295 AD patients, the total S. aureus colonization rate in skin lesions was 66.9% (95/142) for group A and 78.4% (120/153) for group B. No significant changes in the systemic antimicrobial susceptibilities of S. aureus strains isolated from adolescent AD patients were ob-served during about 10-year period. The increased trend of MRSA isolation in recent adolescent AD outpatients suggest that the community including school could be the source of S. aureus antibiotic resistance and higher fusidic acid resistance rates provides evidence of imprudent topical use. Conclusion: Relatively high MRSA isolation and fusidic acid resistance rates in recent AD patients suggest that the community harbors antibiotic-resistant S. aureus. 패션산업의 급속한 발전은 소비자로 하여금 쇼핑행동에 많은 변화를 가져왔다. 특히 인터넷과 모바일과 같은 네트워크의 발달로 소비자들의 행동반경을 더욱 넓어졌으며 외부에 머무르는 시간도 증가했다. 그러므로 도시 중심거리의 상가에 대한 홍보는 점포 입장에서 중요한 수단이 아닐 수 없다. 특히 도시 중심가에 위치한 패션 점포는 계절에 따라 상품이 변화하므로 도시의 활력소가 되며 중심거리의 상가 내에서 차지하는 비중도 크다. 이러한 중요성에도 불구하고 여기에 대한 구체적인 패션점포의 색채 연구는 극히 미비하다. 이에 본 연구에서 부산의 대표적인 광복동 패션거리를 대상으로 패션 점포 간판의 색채를 패션브랜드 점포의 특성에 따른 차이점을 살펴보았다. 여기서 54개 패션 브랜드 간판이 분석되었으며 복종, 브랜드 전개 형태, 가격대로 분류해 분석했다. 분석결과는 관련 지역 구청의 간판 색채 사용에 대한 재제가 있었음에도 불구하고 패션점포의 브랜드 복종 및 전개형태에 따라 간판 색채 이미지는 차이가 났다. 그러나 가격대에 따른 간판 색채의 이미지 차이는 미비하게 나타났다. 본 연구를 통해서 도시중심거리의 색채 분석 시 해당 지역 내 점포의 특성도 이해하는 것이 중요하다는 점을 시사하고 있다. 그러므로 차별화전 도시 거리의 색채를 기획하거나 도심에 위치한 패션브랜드 점포들의 간판 색채를 기획 할 때 참조가 되리라 사료된다. Rapid development of the fashion industry change the consumer‘s shopping habit. The network system such as Internet and smart phones expands the movement of consumer, and the consumer stays longer at the outside ever before. As a result, it is important to understand for managers the promotion of the store located in the central city street where the many young consumers visits. Fashion stores have variety of seasonal and trendy merchandises vitalizing the atmosphere of city, and take a major part of the stores in the city. In spite of the representation of the city, the characteristics of the fashion brand store in the city has not investigated for attracting the consumer. Especially, the signboard of the fashion stores has not studies yet in detail for color. This study focuses on color, one of the design elements of the signboard, based on Fashion Street of Kwang-bok Dong, Busan. 54 signboards were collected and analyzed by IRI monochrome image analysis. The differences in color images of the signboard have shown in the types of wear and brand, but there is not much difference between the price ranges. The most common use of color is white and the range of colorless. The implication of this study is twofolds: first, when the color of city is investigated, it is important to understand the type of stores composing the street of city. Second. it is advisable for the fashion store manager to plan the signboard of the store presenting the store concept properly within the signboard guideline of a certain district.

<P>Tuberculosis (TB) is a major global health problem, and multi-drug-resistant TB (MDR-TB) and extensively drug-resistant TB (XDR-TB) are spreading throughout the world. However, conventional drug susceptibility test (DST) methods, which rely on the detection of the colony formation on a solid medium, require 1-2 months to the result. A rapid and accurate DST is necessary to identify patients with drug-resistant TB and treat them with appropriate drugs. Here, we used microscopic imaging of Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB) immobilized in an agarose matrix for a rapid DST. The agarose matrix, which was molded in a microfluidic chip, was inoculated with MTB, and TB drugs in liquid culture medium diffused throughout the agarose to reach the MTB immobilized in the agarose matrix. After the responses of MTB to drugs were tracked with an automated microscopic system, an image-processing program automatically determined the susceptibility and resistance of MTB to specific doses of TB drugs. The automatic DST system was able to assess the drug susceptibility of various drug-resistant clinical TB strains within 9 days with an accuracy comparable to that of conventional method. Our rapid DST method based on microscopic time-lapse imaging greatly reduces the time required for a DST and can be used to rapidly and accurately treat TB patients.</P>

<P>In recent years throughout Korea, the use of ultrasound-guided core needle biopsy (CNB) has become common for the preoperative diagnosis of thyroid nodules. However, there is no consensus on the pathology reporting system for thyroid CNB. The Korean Endocrine Pathology Thyroid Core Needle Biopsy Study Group held a conference on thyroid CNB pathology and developed guidelines through contributions from the participants. This article discusses the outcome of the discussions that led to a consensus on the pathology reporting of thyroid CNB.</P>
