        Improved Stability Criteria for T-S fuzzy Systems with Time-varying Delay by Delay-partitioning Approach

        This paper focuses on the robust stability criteria of uncertain T-S fuzzy systems with timevarying delay by delay-partitioning approach. An appropriate Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional is established in the framework of state vector augmentation. Then, on the basis of the Finsler’s lemma, some tighter bounding inequalities (Seuret-Wirtinger’s integral inequality and Peng-Park’s integral inequality) are employed to deal with (time-varying) delay-dependent integral items. Therefore, less conservative delay-dependent stability criteria are obtained in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs), which can be solved efficiently with the Matlab LMI toolbox. Finally, two numerical examples are provided to show that the proposed conditions are less conservative than existing ones.

        Adsorption of Ammonia on Municipal Solid Waste Incinerator Bottom Ash Under the Landfill Circumstance

        The adsorption characteristics of ammonia on MSWI bottom ash were investigated. The effect of the variation of the landfill environmental parameters including pH, anions and organic matter on the adsorption process was discussed. Results showed that the adsorption could be well described by pseudo-second-order kinetics and Langmuir model, with a maximum adsorption capacity of 156.2 mg/g. The optimum adsorption of ammonia was observed when the pH was 6.0. High level of ion and organic matter could restrict the adsorption to a low level. The above results suggested that MSWI bottom ash could affect the migration of ammonia in the landfill, which is related to the variation of the landfill circumstance.

        Influence of Li Addition on the Microstructures and Mechanical Properties of Mg–Li Alloys

        In this study, Mg-xLi (x = 0, 1, 2, 3 and 5 wt%) alloys have been extruded to examine the role of Li content on microstructuresand tensile properties. The results revealed that Li addition increased the grain size and led to the formation of the transversedirection (TD)-split texture. These were mainly attributed to the promoted DRX process and the increased activity of prismatic⟨a⟩ slip during extrusion. Tensile tests revealed that the elongation of Mg-5Li sheet reached ~ 22.4% along the ED. Moreover, it exhibited a higher elongation of ~ 27.3%, three times than pure Mg, along the TD. During tension along the ED,with increasing Li content, more prismatic ⟨a⟩ slip and preferable intergranular strain coordination ability to accommodatethe plastic strain, leading to the enhanced room-temperature ductility. In contrast, more basal ⟨a⟩ slips and extension twinswere also activated along the TD, which further contributed to the enhanced ductility. Therefore, the ductility of Mg sheetsat room temperature gradually improved with Li addition due to the combining effects of basal ⟨a⟩ slip, prismatic ⟨a⟩ slip,extension twin and preferable intergranular strain coordination ability.

        Genetic Analysis and Molecular Mapping of Gene Associated with Dominant Genic Male Sterility in Rapeseed (Brassica napus L.)

        Rs1046AB is a dominant genic male sterility (DGMS) line derived from a spontaneous mutant in Brassica napus. The sterility of this mutant was previously regarded as to be conditioned by the interaction of a dominant male sterility gene Ms and its non-allelic dominant restorer gene Mf (or Rf in previous reports). Recent genetic analyses, however, indicated that Ms and Mf may be allelic. In this research, we confirmed that a multiple allele model should be more appropriate to elucidate the heredity of DGMS line Rs1046AB. Based on this result, the present study emphasized on identifying DNA markers linked to Ms/Mf in an F2 population constructed by crossing Rs1046A with a double haploid (DH) restorer line (19514A). Twenty amplified fragment length polymorphism (AFLP) markers linked to the Ms/Mf locus were identified by combination of bulked segregant analysis (BSA) with AFLP technique. The target locus was detected to be co-segregating with the marker S05T05 and bracketed by two nearest markers, E14M01 and E01M02, with a genetic distance of 0.1 cM and 1.2 cM, respectively. Furthermore, we successfully converted two AFLP markers into sequence characterized amplified region (SCAR) markers. These findings provided direct molecular marker proofs on the inheritance model of this DGMS line, and the high density molecular markers linkage map around the Ms/Mf locus will be more informative for both marker-assisted selection (MAS) of elite male sterile lines and isolation of the Ms/Mf genes by positional cloning in future.

      • DEP Domain Containing 1 is a Novel Diagnostic Marker and Prognostic Predictor for Hepatocellular Carcinoma

        Background: This study was conducted to determine DEPDC1 expression in hepatocelluar carcinomas (HCCs) and to reveal its potential role in diagnosis and prognosis of affected patients. Materials and Methods: DEPDC1 expression at the mRNA level was detected by quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR) in 205 cases of HCC and paired adjacent normal liver tissues, and by semi-quantitative RT-PCR in 20 cases. Survival curves were obtained by using Kaplan-Meier method and Log-rank test. Independent predictors associated with regard to disease free survival (DFS) and overall survival (OS) were identified using the Cox proportional hazard model. Results: High DEPDC1 mRNA levels were detected in 144 out of 205 cases (70.24%) of HCC, significantly associated with clinicopathological parameters, including tumor size (${\geq}4cm$), alpha-fetoprotein (${\geq}100ng/ml$), B-C of BCLC stage and recurrence. Kaplan-Meier survival analysis revealed that HCC patients with high DEPDC1 expression had poor OS and DFS. Multivariate analysis demonstrated that high DEPDC1 expression was an independent predictor for OS (HR=1.651; 95% 95%CI, 1.041-2.617; p=0.033) and DFS (HR=1.583; 95%CI, 1.01-2.483; p=0.045). Conclusions: Our results indicate DEPDC1 might be a novel diagnostic marker and an independent prognostic predictor for HCC patients.

      • A Parallel Power Quality Conditioner without Harmonic Detection

        A non-harmonic detection Parallel Power Quality Conditioner (PPQC) which can compensate harmonics and reactive power without harmonic and reactive power detection is introduced. By studying the energy exchange process and principle between the AC side and DC side, a DC voltage control method, controlling the magnitude and direction of the current flowing into the DC side, is proposed, to keep the DC voltage stable. The influence of the load active current on the DC voltage is analyzed in detail. A new non- harmonic detection control strategy is proposed with the load active current as a perturbation. The proposed control strategy which avoids complex detection algorithm, and in turn the errors and delay caused by detection algorithm, improves dynamic response speed greatly. Experiment results exhibit excellent harmonic and reactive power compensation performance and dynamic response.

        Parkinson’s Disease with Fatigue: Clinical Characteristics and Potential Mechanisms Relevant to α-Synuclein Oligomer

        Background and Purpose The aim of this study was to identify the clinical characteristics and potential mechanisms relevant to pathological proteins in Parkinson’s disease (PD) patients who experience fatigue. Methods PD patients (n=102) were evaluated using a fatigue severity scale and scales for motor and nonmotor symptoms. The levels of three pathological proteins—α-synuclein oligomer, β-amyloid (Aβ)1-42, and tau—were measured in 102 cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) samples from these PD patients. Linear regression analyses were performed between fatigue score and the CSF levels of the above-listed pathological proteins in PD patients. Results The frequency of fatigue in the PD patients was 62.75%. The fatigue group had worse motor symptoms and anxiety, depression, and autonomic dysfunction. The CSF level of α-synuclein oligomer was higher and that of Aβ1-42 was lower in the fatigue group than in the non-fatigue group. In multiple linear regression analyses, fatigue severity was significantly and positively correlated with the α-synuclein oligomer level in the CSF of PD patients, after adjusting for confounders. Conclusions PD patients experience a high frequency of fatigue. PD patients with fatigue have worse motor and part nonmotor symptoms. Fatigue in PD patients is associated with an increased α-synuclein oligomer level in the CSF

        Fermented cottonseed meal improves production performance and reduces fat deposition in broiler chickens

        Objective: This study was conducted to investigate the effect of fermented cottonseed meal (FCSM) on growth performance, carcass traits, and fat deposition in white-feather broiler chickens. Methods: A total of 480 male one-day-old white-feather broiler chickens were selected randomly and divided into four groups with six replicates of 20 chickens in each. The experimental chickens were fed diets including 3%, 6%, or 9% FCSM fermented by Candida tropicalis until 42 days old. In the experiment, the chickens of the control group were fed soybean meal. Results: FCSM supplementation linearly decreased the feed conversion ratio from d 15 to 21 and d 36 to 42, respectively (p<0.05). The percentage of carcass and semi-eviscerate increased in response to dietary FCSM supplementation at d 21 (p<0.05). The percentage of eviscerated and semi-eviscerate of 3FCSM was higher than that in other groups at d 35 (p<0.05). At the age of 42 d, the percentage of carcass increased in a quadratic way among increasing FCSM in diets (p<0.05). The subcutaneous fat thickness linearly decreased with the increasing levels of FCSM at d 21 (p<0.05). Gompertz and Logistic functions provided a better fit on abdominal fat and subcutaneous fat, respectively. The best fitted equation predicted that the maximum growth rate of abdominal fat weight and subcutaneous fat thickness occurred at d 28. FCSM had no significant effects on the shape of growth curve of abdominal fat weight and subcutaneous fat thickness, but reduced the height of the curve. Birds receiving the 6FCSM diet for 21 d had smaller adipocyte surface and lower serum glucose as well as triglyceride concentration. Conclusion: FCSM is beneficial for broiler chickens as it positively affects their growth and carcass in addition to altering their fat deposition.
