Sparse probabilistic principal component analysis model for plant-wide process monitoring
Jing Zeng,Kangling Liu,Weiping Huang,Jun Liang 한국화학공학회 2017 Korean Journal of Chemical Engineering Vol.34 No.8
In the industrial monitoring process, probabilistic principal component analysis (PPCA) is a popular algorithm for reducing the dimension. However, the principal components (PCs) are not easy to interpret and its preserved number cannot be determined automatically. In this paper, we propose a sparse PPCA (SPPCA) to improve the interpretability by adding a prior and introducing sparsification to the loading matrix of PPCA. An expectation-maximization (EM) algorithm is used to obtain the parameters of the probabilistic formulation, and the dimensionality of the latent variable space can be automatically determined during the iterative process. With the sparse representation, a process monitoring strategy is then developed with the construction of several partial PPCA models. Case studies of SPPCA to a numerical case and Tennessee Eastman (TE) benchmark process demonstrate its feasibility and efficiency.

Since the thermoacidophilic raw-starch hydrolyzing a-amylase Gt-amy can effectively hydrolyze corn starch under starch liquefaction conditions, it has potential for many industrial applications. To identify the raw starch-binding domain of Gt-amy, a C-terminal domain (CTD)-truncated mutant (Gt-amy-T) was constructed, and its enzymatic properties were compared with Gt-amy. In comparison to CTD of Gt-amy, which could effectively bind corn starch, the Gt-amy-T could not bind to and hydrolyze corn starch under similar conditions. In addition, Gt-amy-T showed significantly lower thermal activity and thermal stability. Using soluble starch as the substrate, the kcat of Gt-amy-T at 80 C was approximately 77.9% of that of Gt-amy. The half-life of Gt-amy at 80 C was 3 h, while that of Gt-amy-T was 2 h. These results reveal that the CTD plays a vital role in raw starch binding and degradation by Gt-amy and helps Gt-amy maintain thermal activity and stability.

Jing Wei,Pan Gao,Xinglong Hu,Wei Sun,Jing Zeng 대한기계학회 2014 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.28 No.6
Transmission error is an important reason for instability in helical gears. A six-degree-of-freedom dynamic model coupled flexional, torsional and axial motion of a helical gear transmission system, which includes time varying mesh stiffness, bearing supporting stiffness, mesh damping and backlash, is developed, after taking into account the dynamic characteristics and vibration responses of helical gear inthree dimensions. Influences of involute contact ratio, bearing supporting stiffness, mesh damping and backlash on the dynamic transmissionerrors and vibration stability of the helical gear system are investigated using numerical simulation technique. The effects on dynamictransmission errors and stabilities by contact ratio, supporting stiffness and mesh damping as well as gear backlash are analyzed. The intrinsic relationship between above parameters and dynamic transmission errors and stabilities for helical gear system are presented. The stable and unstable regions under different parameters are given. The results in this paper can be helpful to the dynamic and stabledesign of a helical gear transmission system.
ATM Rate Based Traffic Control with Bode Principle
Yuanwei Jing,Hui Zeng,Qingshen Jing,Ping Yuan 대한전기학회 2008 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.6 No.2
Bode principle is applied to carry out traffic control for rate based ATM network, which guarantees the higher buffer utilization, buffer overflow-free, and well utilization of bandwidth. The principle confirms the relationship between the threshold of buffer queue and the network bandwidth, as well as the relationship between the threshold of buffer and source input rate. Theoretic warrant of the buffer threshold is proposed. The reference range of source input rate is provided in theory, which makes the source end respond to the change of network state rapidly and dynamically, and then the effect of time delay to the traffic control is avoided. Simulation results show that the better steady and dynamic performances of networks are obtained by Bode principle.

Objective: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of whole brain radiotherapy (WBRT) plus chemotherapy versus WBRT alone for treating brain metastases (BM) from lung cancer by performing a meta-analysis based on randomized controlled trials (RCTs). Methods: The PubMed, Embase, CENTRAL, ASCO, ESMO, CBM, CNKI, and VIP databases were searched for relevant RCTs performed between January 2000 and March 2012. After quality assessment and data extraction, the meta-analysis was performed using the RevMan 5.1 software, with funnel plot evaluation of publication bias. Results: 19 RCTs involving 1,343 patients were included. The meta-analyses demonstrated that compared to WBRT alone, WBRT plus chemotherapy was more effective with regard to the objective response rate (OR = 2.30, 95% CI = 1.79 - 2.98; P < 0.001); however, the incidences of gastrointestinal reactions (RR = 3.82, 95% CI = 2.33 - 6.28, P <0.001), bone marrow suppression (RR = 5.49, 95% CI = 3.65 - 8.25, P < 0.001), thrombocytopenia (RR = 5.83, 95% CI = 0.39 - 86.59; P = 0.20), leukopenia (RR = 3.13, 95% CI = 1.77 - 5.51; P < 0.001), and neutropenia (RR = 2.75, 95% CI = 1.61 - 4.68; P < 0.001) in patients treated with WBRT plus chemotherapy were higher than with WBRT alone. There was no obvious publication bias detected. Conclusion: WBRT plus chemotherapy can obviously improve total efficacy rate, butalso increases the incidence of adverse reactions compared to WBRT alone. From the limitations of this study, more large-scale, high-quality RCTs are suggested for further verification.

Tree peony is a traditional famous flower of China, and plays an important role in Chinese traditional culture. But the floral scent of tree peony in vivo is little known. In this study, in order to explore the floral composition of tree peony, floral volatiles of six cultivars, including Paeonia suffruticosa ‘Zhaofen’ (ZF), P. suffruticosa ‘Luoyanghong’ (LYH), P. ostii ‘Fengdanbai’ (FDB), P. × lemonei ‘High noon’ (HN), P. × lemonei ‘Renown’ (R), and P. rockii ‘Gaoyuanshenghuo’ (GYSH) were collected by dynamic headspace and then identified by Automated Thermal Desorption-Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectometry. The results showed that floral fragrances of the six cultivars were qualitatively and quantitatively distinct. A total of 105 volatiles involving ten categories were detected. But not all volatile categories were emitted from these cultivars. The six peony cultivars emitted some shared compounds and peculiar compounds. The total released amounts of volatiles emitted from six cultivars were found significantly different, which was greatest for ‘GYSH’. The most abundant volatile compounds detected from ‘ZF’, ‘LYH’, ‘FDB’, ‘HN’, ‘R’, and ‘GYSH’ were respectively α-pinene, 2,3-dihydroxy propanal, 3-methyl-1-butanol, 2-ethyl-1-hexanol, acetic acid 1-methylethyl ester, and 5-ethyl-2,2,3-trimethyl heptane. This result may contribute to exploring the biosynthesis and emission mechanism of floral scent in tree peony.

$SF_6$ decomposition products can be used to detect partial discharge (PD), but the metal materials in a PD area can significantly affect $SF_6$ decomposition characteristics. Disregarding the effect of metal materials on such characteristics inevitably result in certain errors when using them to diagnose the internal insulation faults of gas-insulated switchgears. This paper investigates the influence regularity on the main stable decomposition components of $SF_6$ (namely $SO_2F_2$ and $SOF_2$) of the commonly metal materials uesd in GIS, such as aluminum (Al), copper (Cu) and stainless steel (SS). Firstly, an experimental platform is constructed to simulate $SF_6$ decomposition under a PD area, and the influence regularities of Al, Cu and SS on the concentration, formation rate and saturation time of $SO_2F_2$ and $SOF_2$ are obtained. Secondly, the influence mechanism of Al, Cu and SS are preliminary explored combined with the chemical activity of the metal materials.

An optimal power control algorithm based on convex optimization is proposed for base stations in long term evolution networks. An objective function was formulated to maximize the proportional fairness of the networks. The optimal value of the objective function was obtained using convex optimization and distributed methods based on the path loss model between the base station and users. Field tests on live networks were conducted to evaluate the performance of the proposed algorithm. The experimental results verified that, in a multi-cell multi-user scenario, the proposed algorithm increases system throughputs, proportional fairness, and energy efficiency by 9, 1.31 and 20.2 %, respectively, compared to the conventional fixed power allocation method.

Jing Li1,Xuefeng Wang,Huaqing Meng,Kebin Zeng,Fengying Quan,Fang Liu 대한신경정신의학회 2016 PSYCHIATRY INVESTIGATION Vol.13 No.3
ObjectiveaaThe aim of this study was to find if systemic family therapy (SFT) does work in anxiety and depression with epilepsy in adolescents (ADAE). Methodsaa104 adolescents with epilepsy, aged 13–20 years old, were included from December 2009 to December 2010, the enrolled patients were with anxiety [Hamilton Anxiety Scale (HAMA) score ≥14 points] or depression [Hamilton Depression Scale (HAMD) score ≥20 points]. The patients were randomly divided into the control group (n=52) treated with antiepileptic drugs (AED) and the intervention group (n=52) undergone Systemic Family Therapy (SFT) as well as AED. The AED improvements, anxiety and depression scores, Social Support Rating Scale (SSRS), Family Assessment Device (FAD) and scale of systemic family dynamics (SSFD) were observed after 3-month treatment. ResultsaaThe frequencies of epileptic seizures in intervention group was decreased much more significantly than the control group (4.22±3.54 times/month vs. 6.20±5.86 times/month, p=0.04); and the scores of anxiety (9.52±6.28 points vs. 13.48±8.47 points, p=0.01) and depression (13.86±9.17 points vs. 18.89±8.73 points, p=0.02) were significantly decreased than the control group; meanwhile, the family dynamics and family functions were significantly improved, and the social support was also increased (p<0.05). ConclusionaaSFT combined with AEDs had better efficacies than AEDs alone, not only the frequency of epileptic seizures was decreased, but also the patients’ anxiety and depression were improved, and the family dynamics, family functions and social support were improved.
