Droplet transient migration and dynamic force balance mechanism on vibration-controlled micro-texture surfaces

        Jing Xu,Guodong Liu,Jiadi Lian,Jing Ni,Jing Xiao 한국물리학회 2018 Current Applied Physics Vol.18 No.11

In this paper, forced vibration was used to regulate the droplet migration, fully recording the transient migration of droplets on a micro-textured substrate under the resonance frequency by a high-speed camera. The influence of resonance frequency and dynamic migration characteristics of droplets on the solid micro-texture surface under lateral vibration were researched. The experiment demonstrates that the driving force is caused by the difference between the left and right contact angles made the droplet oscillate and migrate, and as time t increases, the left and right contact points are periodically shifted and the amplitude of migration increases. Therefore, based on the droplet migration behavior and its force balance mechanism, a spring vibration model of migration behavior of the vibrating droplet micro unit was set up to predict the complete trajectory of its migration on a solid surface. The calculation results show that the theoretical displacement is less than the experimental displacement, and the longer the time, the larger the difference. Affected by the vibration, part of the droplet permeates through the micro-texture, resulting in the droplet losing height and the contact angle becoming smaller as well. While the other part of droplet overcomes the internal surface tension to migrate.

LncRNA A2M-AS1 lessens the injury of cardiomyocytes caused by hypoxia and reoxygenation via regulating IL1R2

        Xue‑Lian Song,Fei‑Fei Zhang,Wen‑Jing Wang,Xin‑Ning Li,Yi Dang,Ying‑Xiao Li,Qian Yang,Mei‑Jing Shi,Xiao‑Yong Qi 한국유전학회 2020 Genes & Genomics Vol.42 No.12

Background: Myocardial ischemia and reperfusion injury (MI/RI) is a complex pathophysiological process, which can lead to severe myocardial injury. The long noncoding RNA alpha-2-macroglobulin antisense RNA 1 (A2M-AS1) has been revealed to be abnormally expressed in MI, However, its function in MI and the potential mechanism are still unclear. Objective: To evaluate the functional role of A2M-AS1 in hypoxia/reoxygenation (H/R)-induced neonatal cardiomyocytes and its potential molecular mechanism. Methods: Dataset GSE66360 was obtained from GEO database for analyzing the RNA expression of A2M-AS1 and interleukin 1 receptor type 2 (IL1R2). KEGG pathway enrichment analysis of the genes that co-expressed with A2M-AS1 was performed. Human neonatal cardiomyocytes were subjected to H/R to construct in vitro models. QRT-PCR and Western blot were adopted to test the levels of mRNA and protein. The viability and apoptosis of cardiomyocytes were tested by CCK-8 and flow cytometry assays, respectively. Results: The expression of A2M-AS1 was notably downregulated in H/R-treated cardiomyocytes. Overexpression of A2M-AS1 can notably enhance the cell viability of H/R-damaged cardiomyocytes, whereas knockdown of A2M-AS1 showed the opposite outcomes. Besides, a negative correlation was showed between A2M-AS1 and IL1R2 expression. In H/R-treated cardiomyocytes, overexpression of IL1R2 weakened the promoting proliferation and anti-apoptosis effects caused by overexpressing A2M-AS1, however, IL1R2-knockdown abolished the anti-proliferation and pro-apoptosis effects caused by silencing A2M-AS1. Conclusion: This study demonstrates the potential regulatory role of A2M-AS1/ IL1R2 axis in cardiomyocytes suffered from H/R, and provides insight into the protection of MI/RI.

The Gender-Sensitive Social Risk Factors for Internet Addiction in College Undergraduate Students

        Xia Lin,Jing-yan Gu,Wan-jun Guo,Ya-jing Meng,Hui-yao Wang,Xiao-jing Li,Wei Deng,Lian-sheng Zhao,Xiao-hong Ma,Ming-li Li,Ting Chen,S,K,Cheng,Tao Li 대한신경정신의학회 2021 PSYCHIATRY INVESTIGATION Vol.18 No.7

Objective The current study aims to explore precipitating and social risk factors for internet addiction (IA) in university undergraduate students, and to provide evidence for interventions and the early prevention of IA in different genders. Methods Four thousand eight hundred and fifty-eight college sophomores completed an online survey on their internet use-related behaviours and social risk factors. Results We found that more male (8.3%) than female students (5.4%) had moderate and severe IA. The main online activity in the moderate and severe IA groups was online gaming in males and online streaming in females. Roommates engaging in similar internetbased entertainment was a risk factor of IA only for males, while not being in a romantic relationship was a risk factor of IA for females only. Infatuation with the internet before college and adjustment problems for college life were shared risk factors for both genders in the mild and moderate IA groups. Conclusion IA was a common phenomenon in college students with shared and unique precipitating and social risk factors in males and females. The gender-sensitive risk factors for IA warranted earlier and individualized intervention and prevention strategies for IA in this population.

      • A generalized adaptive variational mode decomposition method for nonstationary signals with mode overlapped components

        Jing-Liang Liu,Fu-Lian Qiu,Zhi-Ping Lin,Yu-Zu Li,Fei-Yu Liao 국제구조공학회 2022 Smart Structures and Systems, An International Jou Vol.30 No.1

Engineering structures in operation essentially belong to time-varying or nonlinear structures and the resultant response signals are usually non-stationary. For such time-varying structures, it is of great importance to extract time-dependent dynamic parameters from non-stationary response signals, which benefits structural health monitoring, safety assessment and vibration control. However, various traditional signal processing methods are unable to extract the embedded meaningful information. As a newly developed technique, variational mode decomposition (VMD) shows its superiority on signal decomposition, however, it still suffers two main problems. The foremost problem is that the number of modal components is required to be defined in advance. Another problem needs to be addressed is that VMD cannot effectively separate nonstationary signals composed of closely spaced or overlapped modes. As such, a new method named generalized adaptive variational modal decomposition (GAVMD) is proposed. In this new method, the number of component signals is adaptively estimated by an index of mean frequency, while the generalized demodulation algorithm is introduced to yield a generalized VMD that can decompose mode overlapped signals successfully. After that, synchrosqueezing wavelet transform (SWT) is applied to extract instantaneous frequencies (IFs) of the decomposed mono-component signals. To verify the validity and accuracy of the proposed method, three numerical examples and a steel cable with time-varying tension force are investigated. The results demonstrate that the proposed GAVMD method can decompose the multi-component signal with overlapped modes well and its combination with SWT enables a successful IF extraction of each individual component.

Lian Xiao-gang,Cao Jing-chuan 아시아건강운동학회 2021 Journal of Asian Society for Health & Exercise Vol.3 No.2

The construction of appropriate pattern is an important measure to promote the development of school sports insurance. The expert interview method and case study method and other research methods are adopted to explore the construction and implementation path of the tripartite linkage school sports insurance pattern. Research believes that tripartite linkage school sports insurance pattern is based on the modernization of national governance and the establishment of the concept of the assumption risk. Collaborative governance theory and welfare pluralism theory is the theoretical basis. The tripartite linkage pattern is an operation style of government-led, school-supported and family-based. It advocates the government, school and families jointly contribute in proportion to provide school sports insurance for students. The implementation of the tripartite linkage school sports insurance pattern can be promoted from government guidance, legal construction, pilot exploration and other ways.

Functionalization of carbon naotubes for nanoparticle attachment

Lian Gao,Yangqiao Liu,Jing Sun,Yan Wang 한양대학교 세라믹연구소 2010 Journal of Ceramic Processing Research Vol.11 No.1

In this paper, multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) have been functionalized by two methods, which are a concentrated acid treatment and a noncovalent treatment by a polyelectrolyte. The structure of the carbon nanotubes after treatment has been characterized by Raman measurements. Zeta potential analysis shows that the carbon nanotubes become obviously negatively charged after these two treatments. Inorganic nanoparticles, including NiFe2O4, CdS and SnO2 are homogeneously attached onto the functionalized MWCNTs using an in situ formation method utilizing the electrical attraction between the functionalized MWCNTs and the metal ions. The composites obtained have been characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and energy dispersive spectroscopic (EDS) analysis. These composites can be potentially useful for fabricating catalysts, photovoltaic cells, lightemitting diodes, etc..

      • DNA Methylation in Peripheral Blood: A Potential Biomarker for Cancer Molecular Epidemiology

        Li, Lian,Choi, Ji-Yeob,Lee, Kyoung-Mu,Sung, Hyuna,Park, Sue K.,Oze, Isao,Pan, Kai-Feng,You, Wei-Cheng,Chen, Ying-Xuan,Fang, Jing-Yuan,Matsuo, Keitaro,Kim, Woo Ho,Yuasa, Yasuhito,Kang, Daehee Japan Epidemiological Association 2012 Journal of epidemiology Vol.22 No.5

Aberrant DNA methylation is associated with cancer development and progression. There are several types of specimens from which DNA methylation pattern can be measured and evaluated as an indicator of disease status (from normal biological process to pathologic condition) and even of pharmacologic response to therapy. Blood-based specimens such as cell-free circulating nucleic acid and DNA extracted from leukocytes in peripheral blood may be a potential source of noninvasive cancer biomarkers. In this article, we describe the characteristics of blood-based DNA methylation from different biological sources, detection methods, and the factors affecting DNA methylation. We provide a comprehensive literature review of blood-based DNA methylation as a cancer biomarker and focus on the study of DNA methylation using peripheral blood leukocytes. Although DNA methylation patterns measured in peripheral blood have great potential to be useful and informative biomarkers of cancer risk and prognosis, large systematic and unbiased prospective studies that consider biological plausibility and data analysis issues will be needed in order to develop a clinically feasible blood-based assay.

ELECTRIC-FIELD DEPENDENCE OF MOLECULAR CONFORMATIONS OBSERVED BY USING SCANNING TUNNELING MICROSCOPY

        XIAO JING MA,RUI ZHANG,YONG TAO SHEN,XIAO HUI QIU,YAN LIAN YANG,CHEN WANG 성균관대학교(자연과학캠퍼스) 성균나노과학기술원 2008 NANO Vol.3 No.2

We review the progress in observation of electrically induced conformational changes of a range of single molecules and molecular assemblies using scanning tunneling microscopy (STM). Recent results using species with optical active functional groups and supramolecular structures confirmed the previously observed effects that the cholesterol molecules with soft linkers have the conformational bistability when switching the bias polarity, while no discernable changes were observed for the mesogen molecules, containing rigid linking units. In addition, it was also observed that the linker units could have appreciable impacts on the assembling characteristics.

Vol.12 No.4

Traditionally, multinational corporations develop ownership specific advantage such as new technology, premium brand, management know-how, and transfer them to the foreign subsidiaries to overcome liability of foreignness. However, recent literatures focused on the worldwide strategic changes of MNCs indicate that foreign subsidiaries are important contributors to the development of firm-specific advantage in multinational corporations. In MNE network, foreign subsidiaries are internally connected with a headquarters and other subsidiaries, and externally connected with local customers, suppliers and governmental agencies. Although knowledge that a subsidiary receives from its headquarters assists in overcoming liability of foreignness, but not all knowledge which is required for international management can be accumulated internally. Therefore, if subsidiaries want to sustain their competitive advantage and achieve high levels of performance, they have to learn from both internal and external networks. Drawing upon the dynamic capability perspective, we use survey data from 129 Korean firms operating in China, try to analyze the effects of parents’ knowledge transfer, local knowledge acquisition, absorptive capacity, and environmental dynamism on subsidiary performance. Our results show that parents’ knowledge transfer and local knowledge acquisition have positive effects on subsidiary performance. We also find that the positive relationship between the parents’ knowledge, local knowledge acquisition and subsidiary performance is moderated by absorptive capacity. In addition, we demonstrate moderating effects of parents’ knowledge transfer and environmental dynamism have no significant effect on subsidiary performance, whereas environmental dynamism strengthen the effect of local knowledge acquisition on subsidiary performance. These results indicate the impacts on parents’ knowledge transfer and local knowledge acquisition on subsidiary performance depend on different contexts.
