Dynamic characteristics and test analysis of a new drilling downhole tool with anti-stick-slip features

        Jia-lin Tian,Tangjia Zhang,Liming Dai,Wenming Cheng,Lin Yang,Chang-fu Yuan 대한기계학회 2018 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.32 No.10

A key problem in drill string dynamics is the stick–slip in deep and large displacement horizontal wells that may lead to the decline in drilling performance or cause tool failure, which may eventually cause underground accidents. Therefore, the research on the production safety, ROP, and increased efficiency in relation to stick–slip theory and practical stick–slip reduction is highly relevant, especially in complex drilling conditions. On this basis, this study takes the new constant torque tool as the engineering background and establishes the working mechanism analytical model of stick–slip reduction and torque constant. A helical dynamic model is established to solve the core problem of the constant torque tool. Then, the differential equation of the helical spline drive motion is deduced. The motion of the helical spline mandrel is calculated, and its analytical results are compared with simulation results. Findings show that the laws of angular displacement, angular velocity, axial displacement, and axial velocity are consistent with the simulation results when the helical spline mandrel moves up or down. The established theoretical model can promote the development of drill string dynamics in new drilling conditions. Moreover, the proposed designing methods can provide new ideas for the development of a stick–slip reduction tool. The results can be further used as reference for key parameter determination and stick–slip reduction technology optimization.

Bamboo Charcoal/Quick-Dry/Metallic Elastic Knits: Manufacturing Techniques and Property Evaluations

        Jia-Horng Lin,Chih Hung He,Mong-Chuan Lee,Yueh-Sheng Chen,Ching-Wen Lou 한국섬유공학회 2019 Fibers and polymers Vol.20 No.7

Protective clothing with electromagnetic shielding effectiveness (EMSE) is a functional textile, which shieldselectromagnetic waves to protect the human body from the far infrared rays. Traditional EMSE garments primarily usemetallic plates for reflecting electromagnetic interference (EMI). However, they also have disadvantages of a heavy weight, easy corrosion, and high production cost. In this study, three different functional yarns are combined, during which the twistnumber of metallic wires is changed for a better shielding effect. A crochet machine is used to fabricate functional elasticknits with the metallic composite yarns as the warp- and weft-inlaid yarns. The test results show that double (D) functionalelastic knits exhibit EMSE of above 20 dB when the EMI are between 1.0 and 3.0 GHz. In addition, the knit structure canimprove breaking tensile strength by 170 % and increases bursting strength by 58 %, but undermines the tear strength by10 %. Although changing twist number of metallic composite yarns does not affect water absorption rate along the weftdirection, it helps increasing elastic recovery rate by 3.1 %, water absorption rate along the warp direction by 106 %, farinfraredemissivity by 2.3 %, water vapor transmission rate by 20 %, and air permeability by 6 %.

      • Experimental and analytical study on RC beam reinforced with SFCB of different fiber volume ratios under flexural loading

        Jia-Xiang Lin,Yong-Jian Cai,Ze-Ming Yang,Shu-Hua Xiao,Zhan-Biao Chen 국제구조공학회 2022 Steel and Composite Structures, An International J Vol.45 No.1

Steel fiber composite bar (SFCB) is a novel type of reinforcement, which has good ductility and durability performance. Due to the unique pseudo strain hardening tensile behavior of SFCB, different flexural behavior is expected of SFCB reinforced concrete (SFCB-RC) beams from traditional steel bar reinforced concrete (S-RC) beams and FRP bar reinforced concrete (F-RC) beams. To investigate the flexural behavior of SFCB-RC beam, four points bending tests were carried out and different flexural behaviors between S/F/SFCB-RC beams were discussed. An flexural analytical model of SFCB-RC beams is proposed and proved by the current and existing experimental results. Based on the proposed model, the influence of the fiber volume ratio R of the SFCB on the flexural behavior of SFCB-RC beams is discussed. The results show that the proposed model is effective for all S/F/SFCB-RC flexural members. Fiber volume ratio R is a key parameter affecting the flexural behavior of SFCB-RC. By controlling the fiber volume ratio of SFCB reinforcements, the flexural behavior of the SFCB-RC flexural members such as bearing capacity, bending stiffness, ductility and repairability of SFCB-RC structures can be designed.

      • Diagnostic Value of Human Epididymis Protein 4 Compared with Mesothelin for Ovarian Cancer: a Systematic Review and Meta-analysis

Lin, Jia-Ying,Qin, Jin-Bao,Li, Xiao-Yan,Dong, Ping,Yin, Bing-De Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2012 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.13 No.11

Background and Purpose: Ovarian cancer is the leading cause of death among gynecologic cancers because of the lack of effective early detection methods. Accuracies of the human epididymis protein 4 (HE4) and mesothelin in detecting ovarian cancer have never been systematically assessed. The current systematic review aimed to tackle this issue. Methods: MEDLINE, EMBASE, and Cochrane databases were searched (September 1995-November 2011) for studies on the diagnostic performances of HE4 and mesothelin in differentiating ovarian cancer from other benign gynecologic diseases. QUADAS items were used to evaluate the qualities of the studies. Meta-DiSc software was used to handle data from the included studies and to examine heterogeneity. All included studies for diagnostic performance were combined with sensitivity, specificity, positive likelihood ratio (PLR), negative likelihood ratio (NLR), diagnostic odds ratios (DORs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs), summary receiver operating characteristic (SROC) curves, and areas under the SROC curves (AUC). Results: A total of 18 studies and 3,865 patients were eligible for the final analysis. The pooled sensitivity estimates for HE4 (74.4%) were significantly higher than those for mesothelin (49.3%). The pooled specificity estimates for mesothelin (94.5%) were higher than those for HE4 (85.8%). The pooled DOR estimates for HE4 (26.22) were higher than those for mesothelin (24.01). The SROC curve for HE4 showed better diagnostic accuracy than that for mesothelin. The PLR and NLR of HE4 were 6.33 (95% CI: 3.58 to 11.18) and 0.27 (95% CI: 0.21 to 0.34), respectively. The PLR and NLR for mesothelin were 11.0 (95% CI: 6.21 to 19.59) and 0.51 (95% CI: 0.42 to 0.62), respectively. The combination of the two tumor markers or their combination with CA-125 increased sensitivity and specificity to different extents. Conclusion: The diagnostic accuracy of HE4 in differentiating ovarian cancer from other benign gynecologic diseases is better than that of soluble mesothelin-related protein. Combinations of two or more tumor markers show more sensitivity and specificity.

Dexmedetomidine Attenuates Neuropathic Pain by Inhibiting P2X7R Expression and ERK Phosphorylation in Rats

        Jia-Piao Lin,Chao-Qin Chen,Ling-Er Huang,Na-na Li,Yan Yang,Sheng-Mei Zhu,Yong-Xing Yao 한국뇌신경과학회 2018 Experimental Neurobiology Vol.27 No.4

α2-Adrenoceptor agonists attenuate hypersensitivity under neuropathic conditions. However, the mechanisms underlying this attenuation remain largely unknown. In the present study, we explored the potential roles of purinergic receptor 7 (P2X7R)/extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK) signaling in the anti-nociceptive effect of dexmedetomidine in a rat model of neuropathic pain induced by chronic constriction injury (CCI) of the sciatic nerve. An animal model of CCI was adopted to mimic the clinical neuropathic pain state. Behavioral hypersensitivity to mechanical and thermal stimuli was determined by von Frey filament and Hargreaves’ tests, and the spinal P2X7R expression level and ERK phosphorylation were analyzed using western blot analysis and immunohistochemistry. In parallel with the development of mechanical and thermal hyperalgesia, a significant increase in P2X7R expression was noted in the ipsilateral spinal cord on day 7 after CCI. Intrathecal administration of dexmedetomidine (2.5 μg) for 3 days not only attenuated neuropathic pain but also inhibited the CCI-induced P2X7R upregulation and ERK phosphorylation. Intrathecal dexmedetomidine administration did not produce obvious effects on locomotor function. The present study demonstrated that dexmedetomidine attenuates the neuropathic pain induced by CCI of the sciatic nerve in rats by inhibiting spinal P2X7R expression and ERK phosphorylation, indicating the potential therapeutic implications of dexmedetomidine administration for the treatment of neuropathic pain.

Seismic performance assessment of steel reinforced concrete members accounting for double pivot stiffness degradation

        Jia-Lin Juang,Hsieh-Lung Hsu 국제구조공학회 2008 Steel and Composite Structures, An International J Vol.8 No.6

This paper presents an effective hysteretic model for the prediction and evaluation of steel reinforced concrete member seismic performance. This model adopts the load-deformation relationship acquired from monotonic load tests and incorporates the double-pivot behavior of composite members subjected to cyclic loads. Deterioration in member stiffness was accounted in the analytical model. The composite member performance assessment control parameters were calibrated from the test results. Comparisons between the cyclic load test results and analytical model validated the proposed method’s effectiveness.

Lentivirus-mediated microRNA-124 gene-modified bone marrow mesenchymal stem cell transplantation promotes the repair of spinal cord injury in rats

        Jia-Lin Song,Wei Zheng,Wei Chen,Yun Qian,Yuan-Ming Ouyang,Cun-Yi Fan 생화학분자생물학회 2017 Experimental and molecular medicine Vol.49 No.-

Our study aims to explore the effects of lentivirus-mediated microRNA-124 (miR-124) gene-modified bone marrow mesenchymal stem cell (BMSC) transplantation on the repair of spinal cord injury (SCI) in rats. BMSCs were isolated from the bone marrow of rats. The target gene miR-124 was identified using a luciferase-reporter gene assay. Seventy-two rats were selected for construction of the SCI model, and the rats were randomly divided into the blank group, sham group, SCI group, negative control (NC) group, overexpressed miR-124 group and si-PDXK group. The mRNA expression of miR-124 and the mRNA and protein expression of pyridoxal kinase (PDXK) were detected by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction and western blotting. The locomotor capacity of the rats was evaluated using the Basso, Beattie and Bresnahan (BBB) scale. Brdu, neuron-specific enolase (NSE), neurofilament (NF) and microtubule-associated protein 2 (MAP2) were detected using immunohistochemistry. The expression levels of thyrotropin-releasing hormone (TRH), prostacyclin (PGI2) and gangliosides (GM) were measured using an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. PDXK was identified as the target gene of miR-124. The overexpressed miR-124 group exhibited higher miR-124 expression than the SCI, NC and si-PDXK groups. Compared with the SCI and NC groups, the PDXK expression was downregulated in the overexpressed miR-124 and si-PDXK groups, and the BBB scores were significantly increased 7, 21 and 35 days after transplantation. The double-labeled positive cell densities (Brdu+NSE/NF/MAP2) and the expression levels of TRH, PGI2 and GM in the overexpressed miR-124 group were significantly higher than those in the NC and SCI groups. These results indicated that miR-124 targeted PDXK to accelerate the differentiation of BMSCs into neurocytes and promote SCI repair.
