Background: Bisphenol A (BPA), known as an endocrine disruptor, is widely used in the world. BPA isreported to cause inflammation-related diseases. Korean Red Ginseng (KRG) has been used safely inhuman for a long time for the treatment of diverse diseases. KRG has been reported of its mitigatingeffect on menopausal symptoms and suppress adipose inflammation. Here, we investigate the protectiveeffect of orally administered KRG on the impacts of BPA in the liver and uterus of menopausal micemodel. Methods: The transcriptome analysis for the effects of BPA on mice liver was evaluated by GeneExpression Omnibus (GEO) databaseebased data (GSE26728). In vivo assay to evaluate the protectiveeffect of KRG on BPA impact in ovariectomized (OVX) mice were designed and analyzed by RNAsequencing. Results: We first demonstrated that BPA induced 12 kinds of gene set in the liver of normal mice. Theadministration of BPA and KRG did not change body, liver, and uterine weight in OVX mice. KRGdownregulated BPA-induced inflammatory response and chemotaxis-related gene expression. Severalgene set enrichment analysis (GSEA)ederived inflammatory response genes increased by BPA wereinhibited by KRG in OVX mice. Conclusion: Our data suggest that BPA has commonly influenced inflammatory response effects on bothnormal and OVX mice. KRG protects against BPA impact of inflammatory response and chemotaxis inOVX mouse models. Our comparative analysis will provide new insight into the efficacy of KRG onendocrine disrupting chemicals and OVX mouse.

Ionic liquids are considered as a promising, alternative solvent for the electrochemical synthesis of metals because of their high thermal and chemical stability, relatively high ionic conductivity, and wide electrochemical window. In particular, their wide electrochemical window enables the electrodeposition of metals without any side reaction of electrolytes such as hydrogen evolution. The electrodeposition of silver is conducted in 1-n-butyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride ([C4mim]Cl) ionic liquid system with a silver source of AgCl. This study is the first attempt to electrodeposit silver nanoparticles without using co-solvents other than [C4mim]Cl. Pulse electrolysis is employed for the synthesis of silver nanoparticles by varying applied potentials from -3.0 V to -4.5 V (vs. Pt-quasi reference electrode) and pulse duration from 0.1 s to 0.7 s. Accordingly, the silver nanoparticles whose size ranges from 15 nm to ~100 nm are obtained. The successful preparation of silver nanoparticles is demonstrated regardless of the kinds of substrate including aluminum, stainless steel, and carbon paper in the pulse electrolysis. Finally, the antimicrobial property of electrodeposited silver nanoparticles is confirmed by an antimicrobial test using Staphylococcus aureus.

Domestic ports are becoming increasingly complex due to the introduction of various marine 4th industry new technologies and the increase in marine logistics. Accordingly, the number of lightings behind the port is also increasing significantly, and there is a great demand for improving the visibility of the AtoN used as a means of transmitting information to vessel operators. This paper describes the development of the performance inspection system that can verify the synchronization and sequential flashing of maritime lanterns that is being introduced to enhance the visibility of AtoN.

Objective: This study aimed to compare the mean pulse rate (PR) and mean blood pressure (BP) between patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and those with simple snoring (SS) during a 24-hour period, and to investigate the correlation between apnea-hypopnea index (AHI), PR, and BP in sleep-related breathing disorder (SRBD) patients with and without hypertension, diabetes mellitus (DM), and cardiovascular diseases (CVDs). Methods: Ninety SRBD patients underwent full-night polysomnography, and ambulatory BP and PR were monitored for 24 hours. Participants were classified into OSA (AHI ≥ 5) and control (SS) (AHI < 5) groups, and BP and PR were compared. Participants were also divided into groups with and without hypertension, CVDs, or DM to analyze the correlation between AHI, BP, and PR in each group. Results: Mean PRs during the daytime period and during the whole 24-hour period in the OSA group were significantly higher than those in the SS group after controlling for potential confounders. No significant difference was observed in mean BP between the groups. Partial correlation analysis after controlling for confounders showed significant correlation between AHI and PR during daytime and the 24-hour period in participants without hypertension, DM, or CVDs, but not in participants with these conditions. Conclusion: The significant differences and correlations only in PR (not in BP) found in this study suggest that PR could be an early marker for SRBD in individuals without comorbidities, and that an increased sympathetic tone could be responsible for future occurrence of CVD.
새로운 소프트 스위칭 방식의 인덕터 없는 풀브리지 DC-DC 컨버터

본 논문에서는 인덕터가 없는 비대칭 PWM 제어 방식의 풀브리지 컨버터를 제안한다. 제안한 컨버터는 위상천이 방식과 달리 순환전류가 없이 스위치 및 다이오드가 항시 에너지를 전달하여 도통손실이 작다. 전압 더블러 구조로서 다이오드의 전압정격이 작고 역방향 회복에 의한 전압 서지가 거의 없어 스너버가 필요 없다. 기존 컨버터와의 비교 분석을 수행하였으며 시뮬레이션을 통해 본 방식의 타당성을 검증하였다.

연료전지 자동차 응용을 위한 새로운 비대칭 PWM 방식의 양방향 하프브리지 컨버터

본 논문에서는 새로운 비대칭 PWM 제어 방식의 양방향 하프브리지 컨버터를 제안한다. 제안한 컨버터는 구조가 간단하고 넓은 듀티 범위를 가지므로 연료전지와 같은 넓은 전압변동을 가지는 응용에 적합하다. 제안한 비대칭 PWM 방식은 기존의 위상각제어 방식에 비해 스위치 및 변압기의 동작전류를 큰 폭으로 낮추었고 ZVZCS와 동기정류 방식을 적용하여 높은 효율과 전력밀도를 가질 수 있다. 기존 컨버터와의 비교 분석을 수행하였으며 실험을 통해 본 방식의 타당성을 검증하였다.

본 논문에서는 5kW급 이상의 연료전지 PCS를 위한 3상 DC-DC 컨버터를 제안한다. 제안한 컨버터는 승압비가 매우 높고 듀티를 0에서 1까지 사용하므로 변압기등 주요 소자를 최적으로 설계할 수 있다. 또한 전류원이면서도 클램프 회로와 스타트-업 회로가 필요 없을 뿐만 아니라 넓은 부하영역에서 영전압 턴 온이 가능하다. 기존 3상 컨버터와의 비교 분석을 수행하였으며 실험을 통해 본 방식의 타당성을 검증하였다.
