      • <i>Lactobacillus kimchiensis</i> sp. nov., isolated from a fermented food

        <P>A novel bacterium was isolated from a traditional fermented food, kimchi. The morphology, physiology, biochemical properties and 16S rRNA gene sequence of strain L133<SUP>T</SUP> were studied. Strain L133<SUP>T</SUP> was Gram-reaction-positive, catalase-negative and homofermentative, with rod-shaped cells that formed cream colonies. Cells grew in the presence of 0–5 % (w/v) NaCl (optimum, 1–2 %), at pH 5.0–9.0 (optimum, pH 7.0–8.0) and at 15–37 °C (optimum, 25 °C). Comparative 16S rRNA gene and <I>pheS</I> sequence analysis of strain L133<SUP>T</SUP> indicated that the strain belonged to the genus <I>Lactobacillus</I>. The major fatty acids were identified as C<SUB>18 : 1</SUB>ω9<I>c</I>, C<SUB>16 : 0</SUB> and C<SUB>18 : 0</SUB>, and the cell wall contained peptidoglycan of the <SMALL>l</SMALL>-Lys–<SMALL>d</SMALL>-Asp type. DNA–DNA relatedness values between strain L133<SUP>T</SUP> and related species were below 11±0.4 %. The DNA G+C content of strain L133<SUP>T</SUP> was 35.7 mol%. Analysis of 16S rRNA gene sequences, as well as physiological and biochemical tests, identified genotypic and phenotypic differences between strain L133<SUP>T</SUP> and other species of the genus <I>Lactobacillus</I>. Based on these analyses, strain L133<SUP>T</SUP> is proposed to be a novel species of the genus <I>Lactobacillus</I>, named <I>Lactobacillus kimchiensis.</I> The type strain is L133<SUP>T</SUP> ( = KACC 15533<SUP>T</SUP> = JCM 17702<SUP>T</SUP> = DSM 24716<SUP>T</SUP>).</P>

        중독과 회복과정에서의 트라우마: 질적 메타합성

        트라우마와 중독의 높은 상관성으로 트라우마에 기반한 실무가 필요함이 강조된다. 본 연구의 목적은 국내 질적연구들을 합성하여 중독 및 회복과정에 관여하는 트라우마의 영향을 파악하는 것이다. 메타합성 방법으로 중독과 회복을 다룬 질적연구를 검색하여 17편의 문헌, 80명의 경험을 분석하였다. 연구결과를 트라우마 경험, 이것이 중독과정 및 회복과정에 미치는 영향으로 범주화했다. 과거의 트라우마 경험은 자아존중감을 낮추고 부정적 감정을 야기했으며, 그 대처로 중독 물질을 반복적으로 사용하게 되었다. 이후 과거와는 다른 타인과의 신뢰를 형성하고 자신의 존재가치를 되찾아가며 회복이 진행되는 것을 확인했다. 이 연구는 중독 영역에서 트라우마 기반의 실무가 활성화되어야 할 당위성을 확보하였다는 점에서 그 의의가 있다. Background: Trauma is a physically or emotionally harmful or life-threatening event that negatively affects well-being. Recently, a high correlation between trauma and substance addiction has been recognized. The aim of this study is to synthesize qualitative studies to understand the effects of trauma involved in the addiction and recovery process. Methods: By searching qualitative studies about addiction and recovery, 17 Korean studies (80 subjects) were finally included in our analysis. Results: We recorded the traumas experienced, and their effects on addiction and recovery. Trauma reduced self-esteem and triggered psychological pain, while addiction was perceived as a countermeasure. As the trauma became accepted, participants acknowledged themselves, realized the value of their existence, and formed trusting relationships with others. Recovery progressed as the trauma healed. Conclusions: Our study facilitates a comprehensive and systematic understanding of the role of trauma on addiction.

        The Effect of Broodstock Age on the Spawning Performance of Cultured Haliotis discus hannai

        The effect of broodstock age on the spawning performance of cultured abalone, Haliotis discus hannai, was assessed for five age groups (3, 4, 5, 6, 7 years old). Spawning performance of the five age groups was assessed in terms of the percentage of spawning abalone, eggs per spawning female, fertilization rates, hatch rates and attachment rates per spawning. The percentage of spawning abalone increased along with broodstock age, reached maximum in female groups of 5- and 6-year age (60%), and in male group of 6-year age (100%), subsequently decreased in 7-year age group. The number of eggs produced per spawning also increased with broodstock age, and the maximum was found in 6-year age. Although the number of spawned eggs for the oldest abalone declined, it still spawned much more eggs than 3, 4, and 5 years old females. The fertilization and hatch rates were obviously larger for 4-6 years old group than the younger and older abalones. The maxima were found in 5-year age group (96.0% and 84.5%), and the minimum were appeared in 7-year age group (79.3% and 58.2%). The attachment rate increased with broodstock age, reached maximum in 6-year age group (33.6%), although the increment gradually declined. The attachment rate for 7-year age group rapidly decreased (16.6%). These results suggested that broodstock age affected the spawning performance of H. discus hannai, which peaked between 5 and 6 years old, and broodstock should be bred during this period for hatchery production.

        효과적인 재난심리회복지원을 위한 협업모델 가이드라인 개발에 관한 연구

        지속하여 발생하는 재난에 대비하여 국민의 심리적 지원을 위한 중앙재난심리지원단을 발족했다. 체계적인 재난심리대응 프로토콜이 없고 유관 기관 간 역할분담이 명확하지 않아 현장에서의 혼란이 가중되었던 기존의 지원체계를, 행정안전부를 중심으로 한 전문성을 가지며 부처 간 협업이 가능한 체계적인 재난심리지원체계를 구축하기 위함이다. 본 연구에서는 재난심리회복지원체계를 제안하여 단계별로 부처 간 주요업무 및 활동 가이드라인을 제시하였다. 재난경험자들의 심리적 변화과정에 근거하여 재난당일, 재난발생 3일 이내, 재난발생 5일 이내, 재난발생 60일 이내, 종료단계의5단계로 나누고 평시 및 예방단계와 종료 이후 지속지원 단계를 함께 제시하였다. 산불과 감염병사례를 적용예시로 들었다. 마지막으로 이에 근거하여 재난심리지원 업무를 (1) 협력조정 (2) 홍보(3) 상담 (4) 치료로 구분하고 부처 간 협업체계를 제안하였다. 이러한 부처 간 협업에 대한 법적인근거를 마련하는 연구 및 재난경험자의 생생한 경험과 현장에 근무하는 인력들의 목소리를 담는후속연구 등이 필요할 것이다. The Central Disaster Psychology Support Group(CDPSG) was launched to provide psychological support(PS) in the case of disasters. Without a systematic psychological response protocol or a clearly stipulated division of responsibilities among related agencies, the existing system added confusion to the delivery of PS. The CDPSG was aimed at building a professional and systematic support system that allows inter-ministerial cooperation, with the Ministry of the Interior and Safety at the center. In this study, a disaster PS system was proposed. Based on the process of psychological change of disaster victims, the proposed system is divided into five phases: on the day of the disaster, within 3 days, within 5 days, within 60 days, and the end phase. Prevention phase, preceding the occurrence of disasters, and continued support phase, following the end phase, were also proposed. Cases of forest fires and infectious diseases were cited as examples. Finally, disaster PS work was classified into (1) cooperative coordination, (2) public relations, (3) counseling, and (4) treatment, and a system of cooperation among ministries was proposed. Further research should focus on laying the legal grounds for such inter-ministerial cooperation, and capture first-hand experience of disasters, as well as the voices of personnel working at the site of disasters.

        Systematic determination of the optimized Zr content of Ba(ZrxTi1-x)O3 with high dielectric constant at room temperature for high-voltage system application

        In this study, by replacing the B-site element in BaTiO 3 , a ferroelectric material, with an element with a larger ionic radius, a ferroelectric material with high permittivity at room temperature was synthesized. The powders were prepared by solid-state reaction to perform lattice substitution with Zr 4+ (0.72 Å), which has a larger ionic radius than Ti 4+ (0.605 Å). To perform effective solid-state reaction and better understand the correlation between variables, this study introduced a design of experiment (DOE) based on the orthogonal array (OA) method included in the PIAno software. By substituting 0.222 mol of Zr, which has a large ionic radius, the crystal structure was deformed through an effective diffuse phase transition (DPT), and this resulted in the largest improvement in permittivity at room temperature. In addition, the powder, which underwent solid-state reaction at 1300 °C, formed the densest structure during sintering, which established the conditions for realizing the best dielectric properties. These results can be utilized as a key material for improving the properties of passive devices used in high-voltage industrial systems in societies undergoing the fourth industrial revolution.

      • Virgibacillus alimentarius sp. nov., isolated from a traditional Korean food.

        <P>A novel, Gram-positive, rod-shaped, motile, endospore-forming, halophilic bacterial strain, J18(T), was isolated from a traditional salt-fermented seafood made of gizzard shad in Korea. Colonies were convex, cream-coloured and 1.0-2.0 mm in diameter after incubation for 3 days on marine agar. Growth occurred at pH 7.0-11.0 (optimum, pH 10.0), at 4-40 C (optimum, 37 C) and in the presence of 0-30% NaCl (optimum, 9-10%). On the basis of 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis, strain J18(T) was related most closely to Virgibacillus byunsanensis ISL-24(T) (96.3% similarity), Virgibacillus carmonensis LMG 20964(T) (96.2%), Virgibacillus halodenitrificans DSM 10037(T) (96.0%), Virgibacillus arcticus Hal 1(T) (95.5%) and Virgibacillus necropolis LMG 19488(T) (95.5%). The major fatty acids were anteiso-C(15:0) and anteiso-C(17:0). The DNA G+C content of strain J18(T) was 37.0 mol%. The cell-wall peptidoglycan was of the meso-diaminopimelic acid type. The major quinone was menaquinone 7 (MK-7). Based on phenotypic, chemotaxonomic and phylogenetic data, strain J18(T) is considered to represent a novel species of the genus Virgibacillus, for which the name Virgibacillus alimentarius sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is J18(T) (=KACC 14624(T) =JCM 16994(T)).</P>
