Intracranial hypotension syndrome typically occurs spontaneously or iatrogenically. It can be associated with headache, drowsy mentality and intracranial heamorrhage, Iatrogenic intracranial hypotension can occur due to dural pucture, trauma and spine surgery. Treatment may include conservative therapy and operation. We report a case of a 54-year-old man who was successfully treated with epidural blood patches for intracranial hypotension due to cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leakage into the lumbosacral area after spine surgery.
Comparing Attention and Cognitive Function in School Children across Noise Conditions

Objective The effect of acute noise on cognitive function has long been a topic of study, yet these effects remain a serious problem for learning performance in school children. Methods From November 15, 2010 to December 8, 2010, we enrolled 268 students from three elementary schools (135 boys and 133 girls, 10–12 years old) in Ulsan, Korea. The study subjects were divided into two groups according to their test conditions (background versus additional noise), and tests were conducted using psychological examination tools. Chi-square tests and general linear models were used to assess the differences of impacts on cognition between the two groups. Results After adjusting for socio-demographic covariates, the noise significantly affected the results of full-scale IQ, verbal IQ, Continuous Performance Test scores, and Children’s Color Trails Test and Stroop test scores. The groups at high risk of learning difficulties were more affected by noise than low-risk groups. Conclusion These findings suggest that noise is hazardous to the attention and performance of elementary school students, particularly for groups at greater risk for poor academic achievement. Additional studies are needed to identify subject-specific levels of noise that can affect attention and cognitive function.

As the number of lithium-ion batteries discarded at the end of their lifespan increases, interest in ways to recycle them is increasing. In this paper, an experiment was conducted to recover cathode active materials from spent lithium-ion batteries using solvents as part of direct recycling, and the electrochemical properties of the cathode active materials recovered for each solvent were reported. The experimental results suggest the possibility of recycling the recovered cathode active materials.

The results of experimental investigations of high density plasma source excited by helicon wave in the low magnetic field are presented. Ar plasma densities and electron temperatures have been measured with double Langmuir probe. The scaling of density with magnetic field agrees with the dispersion relations of helicon wave. Plasma densities above 1017m-3 have been achieved at pressure of 5mTorr with input powers of 1kW of 13.56MHz rf using Nagoya type III antenna. Radial profiles of plasma densities measured at 20cm height from the bottom of processing chamber shows that uniformity is achieved in the distance of 4cm from the center.

<P>The advantage of the co-precipitation method is that the precursors react uniformly at the molecular level. Both Ni-rich cathode materials and garnet-type lithium-ion conductor materials have typically been synthesized by the co-precipitation method. In this paper, we report on a composite of lithium-ion conductive and Ni-rich cathode materials with improved electrochemical properties, synthesized by simultaneous co-precipitation. This process is a very simple and useful method for preparing the composite due to uniform precipitation from the precursor phase. The physical, chemical, and electrochemical characteristics of the ionic conductor Ni-rich cathode composite material were investigated. (C) 2018 The Electrochemical Society.</P>

<P>A Li6.75La3Zr2Al0.25O12 (LLZAO)-coated LiNi0.7Co0.15Mn0.15O2 (LNCM) cathode is synthesized using a simple one-step calcination process. LLZAO is a fast ionic conductor that could effectively enhance the lithium-ion diffusion at the electrode/electrolyte interface. The LLZAO-coated LNCM exhibits relatively better electrochemical performance than pristine LNCM, with a superior initial discharge capacity of 191 mAh g(-1) and good rate capability at a high rate of 5C. Furthermore, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy measurement indicates that the interfacial resistance of the LLZAO-coated sample is lower than that of pristine LNCM, which strongly indicates that coating LNCM in LLZAO improves the lithium-ion transport at the electrode/electrolyte interface. 본 논문은 고령자 및 장애인의 안전한 이동을 지원하기 위한 지능형 휠체어에서의 자동 장애물 감지 및 회피 기술을 개발한다. 이때 다양한 환경에서의 장애물을 정확히 감지하고 회피하기 위하여 학습을 이용한 비전 기반의 경로 선정 방법이 제안 된다. 제안된 시스템은 배경 분류기, occupancy grid map 생성기, 경로 선정기로 구성되며, 경로 선정 시 강건한 장애물 검출을 수행하기 위해 입력 영상을 occupancy grid map으로 변환하고, K-means clustering 알고리즘을 이용하여 생성된 대표 템플릿들과 비교하여 이동 가능한 방향을 선정한다. 제안된 시스템의 효율성을 증명하기 위해 다양한 형태의 장애물을 포함하는 실내 및 실외에서 실험한 결과 81.7%의 정확도를 보였으며, 지능형 휠체어 사용자에게 안전한 이동성을 제공 할 수 있음을 증명 하였다.
Effective Dose Calculation Program (EDCP) for the usage of NORM-added consumer product

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>The aim of this study is to develop the Effective Dose Calculation Program (EDCP) for the usage of Naturally Occurring Radioactive Material (NORM) added consumer products. The EDCP was developed based on a database of effective dose conversion coefficient and the Matrix Laboratory (MATLAB) program to incorporate a Graphic User Interface (GUI) for ease of use. To validate EDCP, the effective dose calculated with EDCP by manually determining the source region by using the GUI and that by using the reference mathematical algorithm were compared for pillow, waist supporter, eye-patch and sleeping mattress. The results show that the annual effective dose calculated with EDCP was almost identical to that calculated using the reference mathematical algorithm in most of the assessment cases. With the assumption of the gamma energy of 1 MeV and activity of 1 MBq, the annual effective doses of pillow, waist supporter, sleeping mattress, and eye-patch determined using the reference algorithm were 3.444 mSv year<SUP>−1</SUP>, 2.770 mSv year<SUP>−1</SUP>, 4.629 mSv year<SUP>−1</SUP>, and 3.567 mSv year<SUP>−1</SUP>, respectively, while those calculated using EDCP were 3.561 mSv year<SUP>−1</SUP>, 2.630 mSv year<SUP>−1</SUP>, 4.740 mSv year<SUP>−1</SUP>, and 3.780 mSv year<SUP>−1</SUP>, respectively. The differences in the annual effective doses were less than 5%, despite the different calculation methods employed. The EDCP can therefore be effectively used for radiation protection management in the context of the usage of NORM-added consumer products.
