Objective:The purpose of this study was to test the hypothesis that cardiovascular risk is associated with cognitive impairments in clinically stable late-life depression. Methods:A total of 59 clinically stable late-life depression patients over age 60 were enrolled in a cross-sectional study. Evalu-ation tools used in this study include Hamilton Rating Scale for Depression, Geriatric Depression Scale, State-Trait Anxiety Inven-tory, the Framingham general cardiovascular disease risk profile and the cognitive function battery designed for this study. Corre-lation analysis, analysis of variance and analysis of covariance were performed. Results:Patients with higher cardiovascular risk performed significantly poorer in the domains of executive function and short-term or long-term memory. In models adjusted for age, sex, education, 10% higher cardiovascular risk was associated with poorer executive function. Conclusion:Our findings suggested that cardiovascular risk could be a significant factor associated with poor executive func-tion in clinically stable late-life depression and the management which is necessary as a component of treatment planning. This pi-lot study provided good prospects for future studies to document this relationship on larger samples.

<P>Pseudomyxoma peritonei (PMP) is now considered to originate from appendiceal mucinous neoplasms in almost all cases. However, a mucinous neoplasm arising in a mature cystic teratoma is rarely responsible for PMP. We herein report 2 cases of PMP associated with borderline mucinous tumors arising in mature cystic teratoma. Both ovarian borderline mucinous tumors were morphologically and immunohistochemically similar to the secondary tumors from appendiceal origin, and PMP was histologically similar to peritoneal adenomucinosis.</P>
Improved Resource Allocation Scheme in LTE Femtocell Systems based on Fractional Frequency Reuse

Femtocells provide high quality indoor communications with low transmit power. However, when femtocells are applied in cellular systems, a co-channel interference problem between macrocells and femtocells occurs because femtocells use the same spectrum as do the macrocells. To solve the co-channel interference problem, a previous study suggested a resource allocation scheme in LTE cellular systems using FFR. However, this conventional resource allocation scheme still has interference problems between macrocells and femtocells near the boundary of the sub-areas. In this paper, we define an optimization problem for resource allocation to femtocells and propose a femtocell resource allocation scheme to solve the optimization problem and the interference problems of the conventional scheme. The evaluation of the proposed scheme is conducted by System Level Simulation while varying the simulation environments. The simulation results show that the proposed scheme is superior to the conventional scheme and that it improves the overall performance of cellular systems.

Although various fruits are consumed as fresh produce in South Korea, information on the concentrations of heavy metals in such fruits remains lacking despite the known toxic efects of the metals. Moreover, the health risks posed by seven potentially toxic metals (As, Ba, Cd, Cr, Ni, Pb, and Sb) ingested through fruit consumption have not been assessed using recent dietary data and occurrence data. Inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry was used to quantify these metals in 207 samples of fresh fruits mainly consumed in South Korea. The mean concentra‑ tions (mg kg−1 fresh weight) of the metals in all fruit samples were as follows: As<0.0021, Ba 0.3675, Cd<0.0022, Cr 0.0307, Ni 0.0815, Pb 0.0236, and Sb<0.0021. Only Ba showed a signifcant negative correlation with Pb (ρ= −0.5385) in the studied fruits at the 95% confdence level. The non-carcinogenic risk of the seven metals in terms of hazard quotients was Pb (0.0149)>As (0.0086)>Ni (0.0081)>Sb (0.0080)>Ba (0.0031)>Cd (0.0027)>Cr (0.0001), and the haz‑ ard index, which is the sum of the hazard quotients, was 0.0275 (less than 1). The carcinogenic risks of As and Pb were 4.62E−07 and 5.05E−07, respectively (below 1E−04). The hazard index of seven metals and carcinogenic risks of As and Pb indicated that no health risks were associated with fruit consumption in the Korean population. However, the hazard quotient and carcinogenic risk of Pb in apples were the highest for children aged 1–2 years, indicating that continuous targeted risk monitoring in this age group is required.

The rotor dynamics and balancing technic for rotating equipment during engineering and manufacture stage are to be carefully considered in order to minimize the operation troubles regarding vibration during commissioning stage. In this paper, the test rig, which includes the disks as balancing plane, is designed and manufactured, so that the characteristic of rotor dynamics can be analyzed such as critical speed and mode shape. The critical speed predicted through natural frequency analysis is verified by the actual measurement on bearing housing vibration during start-up condition of test rig. The low speed balancing and the operating speed balancing test are performed respectively with consideration of first critical speed, and the residual unbalance amounts are estimated in accordance with the relevant method described in API standard. In addition, the single and dual plane balancing are carried out on main disk and trim disk depended on phase information at each balancing step.
