In this study, research the mechanism how machinability decrease on the brake disc surface along the state of skin layer microstructure. Representatively, It has been caused by free-ferrite rim and a few kind of carbide and oxide what existing about 0.3㎜ maximum from the surface. Free-Ferrite bring worse machining condition by making lower hardness and toughness increasing on the near surface, and also creating the diffusion wear in case of cutting with CBN bite. Furthermore, Oxide and carbide precipitate make harmful chipping on the both tool and work pieces. As a result, tool life has rapidly decreased based on these of complex reasons. Point of this study is finding out the correlationship between cutting force and abrasion characteristic when is given difference microstructure on skin layer by every 0.1㎜ depth from near surface.

In order to prevent traffic accidents caused by driver carelessness and reduce damage, many countries are enacting mandatory installation of advanced safety assistant system such as LDSW and AEBS. Advanced safety assistant systems support steering and braking functions related to the driving of vehicles, so vehicle inspection technology is required to ensure safety during the driving life cycle. Inspection methods using diagnostic equipment have limitations that they cannot directly check whether the device is operating normally. We intend to prepare inspection techniques by verifying the operation of advanced safety assistant systems. Research has been conducted on the conditions for activation and operation of advanced safety devices, and test bed are intended to be developed by applying simulation techniques to create these conditions.
