Background/Aims: To compare the performance of a modified Glasgow Blatchford score (mGBS) to the Glasgow Blatchford score (GBS) and the pre-endoscopic Rockall score (RS) in predicting clinical interventions in Vietnamese patients with acute nonvariceal upper gastrointestinal bleeding (ANVUGIB). Methods: A prospective multicenter cohort study was conducted in five tertiary hospitals from May 2013 to February 2014. The mGBS, GBS, and pre-endoscopic RS scores were prospectively calculated for all patients. The accuracy of mGBS was compared with that of GBS and preendoscopic RS using area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC). Clinical interventions were defined as blood transfusions, endoscopic or radiological intervention, or surgery. Results: There were 395 patients including 128 (32.4%) needing endoscopic treatment, 117 (29.6%) requiring blood transfusion and two (0.5%) needing surgery. In predicting the need for clinical intervention, the mGBS (AUC, 0.707) performed as well as the GBS (AUC, 0.708; p=0.87) and outperformed the pre-endoscopic RS (AUC, 0.594; p<0.001). However, none of these scores effectively excluded the need for endoscopic intervention at a threshold of 0. Conclusions: mGBS performed as well as GBS and better than pre-endoscopic RS for predicting clinical interventions in Vietnamese patients with ANVUGIB. (Gut Liver 2016;10:375- 381)
The Impact of Capital Structure on Firm Value: A Case Study in Vietnam

The article analyzes the impact of capital structure on the firm value of chemical companies listed on the stock market of Vietnam. Data was collected from the financial statements of 23 chemical firms listed on the Vietnam stock market from 2012 to 2019. Quantitative research method with regression model according to OLS, FEM, REM method is used; FGLS method is used to overcome the model’s defects. In this research, firm value (Tobin’s Q) is a dependent variable. Capital structure (DA), Return on assets (ROA), Asset turnover (AT), fixed assets (TANG), Solvency (CR), Firm size (SZ), Firm Age (AGE), and revenue growth rate (GR) are independent variables in the study. The analysis results show that the capital structure of firms in the chemical industry listed on the Vietnam stock market has an inverse correlation with firm value. Besides, firms with greater asset turnover, business size, and number of years of operation have lower firm value. This article helps corporate executives improve corporate value by adjusting their capital structure properly. Chemical firms adjusted their capital structure in the direction of gradually decreasing the debt ratio and gradually increasing equity. Firms use high debt, which has the effect of reducing the firm value of firms in the chemical industry.
A Review of Electrically-Assisted Manufacturing

The mechanical properties of metals change temporarily or permanently under application of electric currents under deformation. This phenomenon is often referred to as electroplasticity. The electroplasticity of metals and their alloys has been investigated under various loading conditions including tensile, compressive, bending, and hardness tests. Electrically-assisted manufacturing (EAM) utilizes this electroplasticity in manufacturing processes. Due to its technical advantages such as enhanced formability and reduced springback, EAM is energy efficient with reduced process time. Recent developments in EAM include various bulk deformation and sheet metal forming processes. This paper summarizes previously reported electroplastic behaviors of various metals or metal alloys and recent EAM processes. In addition, contemporary EAM patents are briefly reviewed.

Forest fires inflict great losses of human lives and serious damages to ecological systems. Hence, numerous fire detection methods have been proposed, one of which is fire detection based on sensors. However, these methods reveal several limitations when applied in large spaces like forests such as high cost, high level of false alarm, limited battery capacity, and other problems. In this research, we propose a novel forest fire detection method based on image processing and correlation coefficient. Firstly, two fire detection conditions are applied in RGB color space to distinguish between fire pixels and the background. Secondly, the image is converted from RGB to YCbCr color space with two fire detection conditions being applied in this color space. Finally, the correlation coefficient is used to distinguish between fires and objects with fire-like colors. Our proposed algorithm is tested and evaluated on eleven fire and non-fire videos collected from the internet and achieves up to 95.87% and 97.89% of F-score and accuracy respectively in performance evaluation.

Magnetic tunnel junctions of the glass/Co(10 nm/Al2O3(tx)/Co50Fe50(1.8 nm)/Ni80Fe20(10 nm) conguration for tx from 1.4 to 2.6 nm were fabricated by RF-sputtering. Samples were studied by means of the atomic force microscopy (AFM), high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM) and tunneling magnetoresistance (TMR) measurements. The tunneling magnetoresis- tance was investigated as a function of the thickness, as well as the oxygen concentration of the insulating layer. The optimum conguration was obtained for tx = 1.8 nm. In this case, a mag- netoresistance of 12 % was reached in an applied eld of about 2 mT. Multiferroic CoFe₂O₄-Pb(Zr,Ti)O₃ films were prepared on TiO₂-terminated (001) Nb-doped SrTiO3 substrates by using pulsed laser deposition (PLD). The lms were epitaxial and exhibited a large in-plane magnetic anisotropy and good ferroelectric properties. A decrease in the magneti- zation around the ferroelectric Curie temperature indicated magnetoelectric coupling between the magnetostrictive and the piezoelectric phases, which allows interconversion of energy stored in the electric and the magnetic elds and provides great potential for applications as next-generation multi-functional devices. Suggesting Moving Positions in Go-Game with Convolutional Neural Networks Trained Data

Nowadays, machine learning and deep learning has been becoming popular and useful in applying to resolve people’s problem. Specially, in HCI (Human Computer Interaction) field like robots or automatic game programs. Go-Game (the game of Go) is still a challenge in coding to get the wisest moves each turn to achieve the winner at the end of a game. In our work, we suggest the next move based on Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) and make evaluations and comparisons to gamers separate in 3 ranks (levels). We train 5-layers CNNs by supervised learning from a database of human games using the board-states. The network suggests the move of the selected player and the others player can be helped or not- depend on playing option. The program can also play the game automatically without human interactions during all the game progress (Machine-Machine game). In the other way, our program can interact with a human-player and accept move commands from player (Human-Machine or Human-Human). This technique allows Go-game program play the game without searching as traditional program but trained by convolutional neural networks. In our tests, we separate in 3 levels and use totally 598,472 board-states for training data. Our main aim is to help people who are the newbie in playing Go-game. With this technique, we expected that we can apply to develop AI programs and devices with more and more effects and higher performance.
The Effect of Foreign Direct Investment Inflow on Exports: Evidence from Vietnam

Foreign direct investment (FDI) and export are now often regarded as two of the most important drivers of economic growth on a worldwide scale. The impact of foreign direct investment on Vietnam’s exports is investigated in this study. The data for the time period 1985–2020 was obtained from the World Bank and the Vietnam General Statistics Office. The years 1985 to 2020 were chosen to evaluate the evolution of macroeconomic parameters since 1986. The impact of the Covid-19 epidemic on renovation reform. The Johansen co-integration test proved that FDI and domestic investment (DI) had a long-term positive impact on Vietnam’s export growth. The Granger causality test revealed that there is a one-way relationship between FDI and export in the near term, but no such relationship exists between DI and export. The result of the variance decomposition study demonstrates that the FDI sector has a bigger impact on Vietnam’s export growth than the DI sector. Furthermore, export activities are vulnerable to FDI sector shocks. As a result, in recent years, FDI has been regarded as the most important factor of export growth in Vietnam.
The Impact of Cash Flow Statement on Lending Decision of Commercial Banks: Evidence from Vietnam

The paper investigates the impact of the statement of cash flows of listed companies on lending decisions of commercial banks in the context of Vietnam. Survey data for the research were collected from 160 credit officers of Vietnamese commercial banks for short-term and long-term lending decisions, whether the cash flow statement includes complete information or has a lack of information. The cash flow statement, in which the information on the cash flow is completely contrary to the profit information on the income statement is examined. This paper employed T-tests to address the research issues in a market considered to be ineffective, like Vietnam. The research results show: (1) the information on the cash flow statement affects both the short-term and long-term lending decisions of credit officers, and (2) the lack of information on the cash flow statement in both cases of positive and negative profits affects the comfort and confidence of credit officers in making decisions. The research findings also indicate that cash flow statements are important for lending decisions of credit institutions in Vietnam. Therefore, this paper provides a new insight to managers on how to improve the quality of cash flow statement to meet the needs of lenders.
