        Study on adaptive concentric performance of floating self-concentric seals

        In present study, solution models for CTPS, CCPS, and LS were established to study radial pressure distribution of the seals and to analyze the effects of inlet/outlet pressure ratios and eccentricity ratios on floating concentric force. A floating self-concentric seal experiment apparatus was designed to study the effects of inlet/outlet pressure ratios and eccentricity ratios on response time and moving track of CTPS, CCPS and LS. The results show that CTPS has a good adaptive concentric performance, which is more suitable as a floating seal ring. Under different inlet/outlet pressure ratios and eccentricity ratios, CTPS always move towards concentric direction, and thereafter stabilizes at equilibrium location with a low eccentricity ratio, which is contributed to the greater floating concentric force counteracting friction force between the ball and plate. With the increase of inlet/outlet pressure ratio and eccentricity ratio, it takes a shorter floating response time to reach the equilibrium location.

        Autophagy plays a protective role against apoptosis induced by toxicarioside N via the Akt/mTOR pathway in human gastric cancer SGC-7901 cells

        Toxicarioside N (Tox N), a natural product extract from Antiaris toxicaria, has been reported to induce apoptosis in human gastric cancer cells. However, the mechanism and actual role of autophagy in Tox N-induced apoptosis of human gastric cancer cells remains poorly understood. In the current study, we demonstrated that Tox N could induce autophagy by inhibiting the Akt/mTOR signaling pathway in SGC-7901 cells. Moreover, we found that the inhibition of autophagy by 3-methyladenine, an autophagy inhibitor, enhanced Tox N-induced apoptotic cell death. However, the stimulation of autophagy by rapamycin, an autophagy activator, remarkably suppressed Tox N-induced apoptosis, suggesting that autophagy plays a protective role in Tox N-induced apoptosis. Thus, the results from this study suggested that Tox N combination with an autophagy inhibitor might be a promising strategy to enhance the anticancer activity of Tox N for the treatment of human gastric cancer.

        Determination of calcium carbonate and styrene-butadiene latex content in the coating layer of coated paper

        The surface infrared spectra of coated paper with different levels of calcium carbonate and SB-latex in the coating layer were measured using ATR-FTIR. The relations between different levels of CaCO3 and SBlatex and their respective characteristic peak areas were then established. The results show that the general regression neural network (GRNN) model can be used to estimate the CaCO3 and SB-latex contents in coatings of coated papers. The maximum errors for calcium carbonate and SB-latex were only 3.32% and 3.39%, respectively, and occurred under conditions that are at the extreme of what might be encountered in an actual production facility.

        Toxicarioside N induces apoptosis in human gastric cancer SGC- 7901 cell by activating the p38MAPK pathway

        Natural plant compounds with potent proliferationinhibition and apoptosis induction properties havebeen screened as novel anticancer drugs. Toxicarioside N(Tox N) was isolated from the seeds of the tropical plantAntiaris toxicaria in Hainan province, China. To ourknowledge, the effects that Tox N has on the apoptosis ofSGC-7901 cells and its potential mechanism have neverbeen investigated. In this study, we detected the anticanceractivities of Tox N and explored the potential mechanismin the human gastrointestinal cancer cell line SGC-7901. Here, we found that Tox N inhibited SGC-7901 cell growthin a dose- and time-dependent manner and induced apoptosisin cells based on cell morphology and flow cytometryanalyses. Additionally, the SGC-7901 cell treated with ToxN up-regulated the expression level of cleaved caspase-3/9and PARP, increased the Bax/Bcl-2 ratio, and led to therelease of cytochrome c into the cytoplasm. In addition,Tox N treatment led to the phosphorylation of p38MAPK. SB203580, a p38MAPK inhibitor, partially attenuated ToxN induced apoptosis by preventing the activation of caspase-3/9 and PARP. Our results indicated for the first timethat Tox N can induce SGC-7901 cells apoptosis by activatingthe p38MAPK pathway.

      • A Novel Dummy-Based KNN Query Anonymization Method in Mobile Services

        Due to the advances of mobile devices with GPS (Global Positioning System), a user's privacy threat is increased in location based services (LBSs).So, various Location Privacy-Preserving Mechanisms (LPPMs) have been proposed in the literature to address the privacy risks derived from the exposure of user locations through the use of LBSs. However, these methods obfuscate the locations disclosed to the LBS provider using a variety of strategies, most of which come at a cost of resource consumption. Therefore, we propose a privacy-protected KNN query anonymization method based on Bayesian estimation for Location-based services. Unlike previous dummy-based approaches, in our method, the request to the LBS server doesn't contain the genuine user location, so we can't calculate whether meet the threshold condition of two location directly, but must to decision making by transition probability. In addition, our method just requires the server returns the results the client needs. Further, we propose an effective search algorithm to improve the server processing. So it can reduce bandwidth usages and efficiently support K-nearest neighbor queries without revealing the private information of the query issuer. An empirical study shows that our proposal is effective in terms of offering location privacy, and efficient in terms of computation and communication costs.

        AEG-1 aggravates inflammation via promoting NALP3 inflammasome formation in murine endometriosis lesions

        Endometriosis (EMs) is one of the most common gynaecological diseases in women of childbearing age. Astrocyte elevated gene-1 (AEG-1) is associated with the invasion, migration, apoptosis and prognosis of various cancers. However, the roles of AEG-1 in EMs and its corresponding molecular mechanism are still unknown. In this study, animal models of EMs were established and mice were divided into two groups (n = 10): Sham group and EMs group. The EMs cells were isolated from EMs model. The AEG-1 gene was knocked down by shRNA, while the SOCS1 gene was knocked down by siRNA. Histological changes, AEG-1 expression in tissues and inflammatory factors level were detected by H&E staining, immunohistochemistry and ELISA, respectively. RTqPCR and western blotting were used to determine the expression level of related proteins. The present study found AEG-1 was up-regulated in the EMs model. Enhanced AEG-1 promoted inflammatory cell infiltration, and elevated the levels of IL-1β, IL-6, and TNF-α in EM group (p < 0.05). Besides, AEG-1 overexpression promoted the expression of NALP3, ASC and Cleavedcaspase- 1, while decreased SOCS1 level (p < 0.05). Decrease of SOCS1 further promoted the formation of NALP3 inflammasome. The inhibitory effect of AEG-1 on SOCS1 was weakened after the addition of MG-132 (p < 0.01). Furthermore, silencing AEG-1 alone increased SOCS1 level, decreased the levels of inflammatory cytokines, thereby inhibited the formation of NALP3 inflammasome. All these results demonstrated that AEG-1 aggravated inflammation via promoting NALP3 inflammasome formation in murine endometriosis lesions.

        Path Smoothing for Five-Axis Machine Tools Using Dual Quaternion Approximation with Dominant Points

        Nowadays, G01 blocks are still the most widely utilized representation form for the tool paths in the five-axis machine tools. Tangency and curvature discontinuities of the linear tool paths may lead to frequent feedrate fluctuation and acceleration variation, which inevitably deteriorate the machining efficiency and quality. To solve this problem, this paper proposed a dual quaternion B-spline approximation method of dominant points to generate smooth tool paths for five-axis CNC machine tools. First, the dominant points, which can characterize the shape of the linear path, are selected for the tool tip location and the tool orientation simultaneously. Such scheme can significantly compress the number of the control points and release the computational load. Then, the linear tool paths are converted to dual quaternions and approximated to dual quaternion B-spline, which can realize the parameter synchronization for the tool tip and tool orientation, and avoid the fitting oscillatory as well. To verify the proposed method, a trajectory generation method for the dual quaternion B-spline is developed. Simulations and experiments on a five-axis machine tool are conducted, and the results demonstrate the feasibility and efficiency of the proposed method.

        Xiaoshuo as a Cataloguing Term in Traditional Chinese Bibliography

        Xiaoshuo has long been used as a Chinese equivalent for fiction by students and scholars of traditional Chinese literature since the early 20th century. In this paper, however, I will argue that xiaoshuo, which was never used in pre-modern China to designate the type of writings known today as fiction, was primarily used as a cataloguing term in traditional bibliography to refer to any writings which were considered to be worth preserving but were considered to be incongruous with any one of the mainstream schools of Masters` writings. For this purpose, the author traces the use of the word xiaoshuo in early Chinese classics and bibliographical books of dynastic history, and explore the etymological rationale underlying xiaoshuo as a cataloguing term in classical Chinese.

      • The Effects of Seeding Rate and N Fertilizer on Dry Matter Accumulation and Grain Yield in Oats

        The effects of seeding rate and N fertilizer on leaf area index, dry matter accumulation, grain yield and yield components in oats were studied using split experimental design. The results indicated t㏊t seeding rate and N fertilizer ㏊d significant influence on leaf area index, dry matter accumulation and grain yield. With the increasing seeding and fertilizer rates, leaf area index, aboveground dry matter increased significantly. Oat reached the highest grain yield under 112.5㎏/h㎡ seeding rate, N2 was the best N fertilizer treatment for oat.
