Improving the Sensitivity of a High-Tc SQUID Magnetometer with a Serial Array

To pursue a high-reproducibility and high-quality SQUID for high-Tc superconducting applications, we have designed and fabricated a flip-chip magnetometer as a sensor for measuring weak magnetic signals. The magnetometer consists of a serial SQUID magnetometer coupled to a flux focuser. The SQUIDs are connected in series, thereby increasing the peak-to-peak value of the voltage-flux transfer function, V. A flux focuser is employed to increase the effective area of the SQUID. The serial SQUID array has high-quality device characteristics. High-Tc SQUID magnetometers exhibiting a magnetic field sensitivity of 45 fT/Hz1/2 in the white region and 200 fT/Hz1/2 at 1 Hz have been demonstrated in this work. The flip-chip SQUID magnetometer shows a sufficiently high sensitivity to record magnetocardiograms.

Objective: To evaluate the clinical outcome and parameters related to coexisting endometrial carcinoma in women with tissuediagnosed endometrial hyperplasia. Methods: Between January 1991 and December 2009, three hundred and eighty-six patients with the presumptive diagnosis of endometrial hyperplasia were retrieved. Among these, one hundred and twenty-five patients were identified as having coexisting endometrial carcinoma in hysterectomy specimens. The three hundred and eighty-six patients were divided into two groups: the hyperplasia-benign group (261 cases) and the hyperplasia-malignant group (125 cases). Several clinical parameters including age, menopausal status, history of abnormal uterine bleeding, obstetrical history, medical history of diabetes and hypertension, BMI, and preoperative pathologic results were investigated. Results: Age ≥53 (odds ratio [OR], 2.40; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.26 to 4.57), menopausal status (OR, 2.07; 95% CI, 1.14to 3.76), diabetes history (OR, 7.33; 95% CI, 2.79 to 19.26), abnormal uterine bleeding (OR, 3.99; 95% CI, 1.22 to 13.02), atypical endometrial hyperplasia (OR, 7.38; 95% CI, 4.03 to 13.49), and body mass index ≥27 (OR, 3.24; 95% CI, 1.76 to 5.97) were independent risk factors for prediction of endometrial hyperplasia coexisting with endometrial carcinoma. The diagnostic efficacy of atypical endometrial hyperplasia to predict the endometrial hyperplasia coexisting with endometrial carcinoma was better than or similar to those of other independent factors and combinations of these factors. Conclusion: Coexisting malignancy should be considered when examining endometrial hyperplasia patients with the related risk factors, especially atypical endometrial hyperplasia.

Acid phosphatase activity in an Acanthamoeba species isolate

이 연구에서는 우리나라에서의 담수어에서 분리한 Acanthamoeba species의 생리기능적 구조에 대한 기초적 연구로 세포질내 acid(AcPase)활성능을 관찰하여 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 광학현미경상에서 아메바의 AcPase의 활성을 관찰한 결과 세포내 공포로 여겨지는 부위에서 과립상의 반응을 보였다. 투과전자현미경으로 아메바의 AcPase 활성을 관찰한 결과 대부분의 공포 및 REP에서 AcPase 양성반응을 관찰할 수 있었으며 Golgi-compelx 및 미토콘드리아에서는 AcPase 양성반응을 관찰할 수 없었으나 항혈청으로 처치된 아메바에서는 일부 미토콘드리아에서 Acpase 양성반응을 나타내는 것으로 관찰되었다. 이 때 양성 반응을 보이는 공포들은 (a) 크기가 작으며 구조 전체가 강한 양성 반응을 보이는 lysosome (b) 크기가 크며 한계막 및 내용물이 강한 양성 반응을 보이는 식포들 (c) 전체적으로 한계막과 내용물의 반응이 약한 식포들 (d) 내용물이 있으나 전혀 양성 반응이 없는 식포들 및 (e) 내용물도 없고 음성 반응을 보이는 식포 및 수축포들 등으로 구분할 수 있었다. 또한 강한 Acpase 양성 반응을 보이는 lysosome 또는 vesicle등은 서로 융합하여 커다란 식포를 형성하고 있음이 관찰되었으며 일부, AcPase 양성인 식포는 또 다른 식포 주변에 접해 있거나 융합 또는 연결되어 있음을 관찰하였다. 이상의 결과로 미루어 이 연구에서 관찰된 Acanthamoeaba species는 소화기능에 있어서 lysosome이 서로 융합되거나 다른 식포에 융합, 연결되어 포식된 내용물을 소화하는 것으로 여겨진다.
Atomistic Simulation of ZrNi Metallic Glasses Under Torsion Test

ZrNi metallic glass alloy nanowires (NWs) under torsion are studied using molecular dynamics simulations based on the many-body embedded-atom potential. The effect of cooling rate on the deformation mechanism and mechanical properties of ZrNi NWs is evaluated in terms of shear strain, torque, potential energy and radial distribution function. Simulation results show that for slower cooling rates, the NWs have larger packing density, whereas for faster cooling rates, the packing density of atoms decreases. The amount of deformation increases with increasing torsional angle before it reaches a critical torsional angle (θc). The torque required for deformation and the θc value increase with decreasing cooling rate, indicating a larger mechanical strength. Localized shear bands concentrate at regions with high shear strains, leading to the formation of torsional buckling.
The study of chip characteristics and tool wear in milling of SKD61 mold steel

In recent years, many machining applications have used dry cutting for highspeed cutting, for which, tool life prediction and research are important issues. In this study, a tungsten carbide tool cutting steel SKD61 was used, and the actual value of the chip shooting and the wear of the flank were determined using an industrial camera. The chip type and chip color are also discussed. After color calibration and chromaticity conversion, the model was trained through the neural network and the results were predicted. The tool wear curve and the theoretical curve were found to be closely related, and the chip color changed regularly. In the CIE XY chromaticity coordinate value, when the initial cutting was observed, the chip chromaticity coordinate point range was small, but as the wear amount increased, the chip chromaticity coordinate point range expanded gradually. The tool wear prediction established in this study was determined from the experimental results. The maximum errors of the test and verification were 0.031 mm and 0.022 mm. After calculation, the mean absolute percentage error (MAPE) was within 3 % and the accuracy level is MAPE is less than 10 %, so it has a high accurate prediction ability. Established tool wear predictions are also provided.
