The Gene Polymorphism of VMAT2 Is Associated with Risk of Schizophrenia in Male Han Chinese

Objective To investigate the association between gene polymorphism of vesicular monoamine transporter type 2(VMAT2) and schizophrenia in Han Chinese population.Methods 430 patients with schizophrenia and 470 age-sex matched controls were recruited from four mental health centers. All patients were diagnosed by two psychiatrists based on the Structured Clinical Interview for DSM Disorders (SCID). The ligase detection reactions (LDR) method was used to assess the polymorphism of the two SNPs (rs363371 and rs363324) of VMAT2.Results No associations of two SNPs with schizophrenia was found. When we stratified males and females for the analysis, we found that that in the recessive model of rs363371, there was an obvious significant association between rs363371 and schizophrenia in males (OR=0.564, 95% CI=0.357–0.892, p=0.014) but not females. For the association between rs363324 and schizophrenia, no association was found in either males or females. No association was found when stratifying early-onset schizophrenia and late-onset schizophrenia.Conclusion Our findings indicate that both rs363371 and rs363324 were not associated with schizophrenia, while it seemed that the AA genotype of rs363371 plays a protective effect in male Chinese in developing schizophrenia.

Thermoactinomyces sp. strain YT06 was isolated from poultry compost and observed to degrade integral chicken feathers completely at 60°C, resulting in the formation of 3.24 mg/ml of free amino acids from 50 ml of culture containing 10 g/l chicken feathers. Strain YT06 could grow and secrete keratinase using feather as the only carbon and nitrogen sources without other supplement, but complementation of 10 g/l sucrose and 4 g/l NaNO<sub>3</sub> increased the production of the keratinolytic enzyme. The maximum protease activity obtained was 110 U/ml and for keratinase was 42 U/ml. The keratinase maintained active status over a broad pH (pH 8-11) and temperature (60-75°C). It was inhibited by serine protease inhibitors and most metal ions; however, it could be stimulated by Mn<sup>2+</sup> and the surfactant Tween-20. A reductive agent (β-mercaptoethanol) was observed to cleave the disulfide bond of keratin and improve the access of the enzyme to the keratinaceous substrate. Zymogram analysis showed that strain YT06 primarily secreted keratinase with a molecular mass of approximately 35 kDa. The active band was assessed by MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry and was observed to be completely identical to an alkaline serine protease from Thermoactinomyces sp. Gus2-1. Thermoactinomyces sp. strain YT06 shows great potential as a novel candidate in enzymatic processing of hard-to-degrade proteins into high-value products, such as keratinous wastes.
Analysis of Chinese Residents in Housing Wealth

In recent years, the housing wealth of our country increased rapidly. Wealth is very important for every family, it is the basis of the people’s basic needs. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct a comprehensive analysis of household wealth. In this paper, we analyze some aspects of family wealth like these: the meaning and measure of wealth; the source of housing wealth; the characteristics of the distribution of household wealth; the reason the difference in household wealth; Countermeasure. As a result, we found a lot. There are four sources of household wealth. They are savings deposits, real estate investment, development of capital markets and wealth inheritance. We analyzed three aspects of the characteristics of household wealth. These three aspects are the income distribution, industry distribution and regional distribution respectively. There are three main reasons for the uneven distribution of household wealth. The three reasons include the disadvantageous income distribution system, the disadvantageous tax system, the imperfect social security system. On this basis, We make recommendations to deal with the uneven distribution of household wealth. Firstly, it is necessary to improve the wage system. Secondly, the need to reform the tax mechanism. Thirdly, we need to improve income distribution mechanism. This means that it is necessary to optimize our systems. In addition, we should improve labor income and adjustment to capital gains reasonably.
The Impact of Enterprise Heterogeneity on the Diffusion of Technological Innovation

In order to explore the impact of enterprise heterogeneity on technology diffusion, this paper puts forward the hypothesis that the impact factors of enterprise heterogeneity on technology diffusion, using structural equation methods to build the structural equation model of the influence factors to technology diffusion. The results show that the enterprise's own nature, the access to the enterprise technological innovation, the enterprise technology exchange activities and the cooperation degree of the enterprises have a significant effect on the diffusion of technological innovation, which proves that the enterprise heterogeneity has a significant effect on the diffusion of technological innovation.

Phosphatidylcholine (PC) has been demonstrated as anti-inflammatory and antioxidant/pro-oxidant molecules. In this study, we investigated the protective effects of PC on inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) caused by lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced injury in intestinal epithelia cells. The IEC-6 cells (intestinal epithelia cells) were stimulated with LPS (1 μg/mL) for 24 h with or without PC pretreatment, in the next steps: (1) the level of the inflammatory cytokine tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α was measured with ELISA; (2) the nuclear translocation and phosphorylation of NF-κB was investigated with Western blot, EMSA, immunofluorence assay; (3) the protein phosporylation levels in MAPK signaling pathway were detected with Western blot method. The results showed: (1) compared with the normal group, 10 and 20 μg/mL of PC significantly inhibited the production and activation of TNF-α, (P < 0.01); (2) pretreatment with PC inhibited LPS-induced nuclear translocation and phosphorylation of p65 in IEC-6 cells; (3) pretreatment with PC inhibited the protein phosphorylation levels in MAPK signaling pathway. Our findings indicated that PC had the effect to protect IEC-6 cells from LPS-induced injury and this effect was exerted possibly through inhibiting the TNF-ɑ secretion, down-regulating nuclear translocation and phosphorylation of p65 and inhibiting MAPK signaling pathways.

ZnO/NiO heterojunction nanofibers were synthesized by an electrostatic spinning technique in thiswork. The morphologies, crystal structures, and compositional features of the ZnO/NiO nanofiberswere analyzed by SEM, TEM, XRD, and EDS characterization. ZnO/NiO nanofibers with Zn contentsof 37.5 at% showed a 46% response to 300-ppm ammonia gas at room temperature (25 ± 1 ℃;56 ± 3% RH), with fast response and recovery behavior (100 s /25 s). The existence of p-n heterojunctionson the surface of ZnO/NiO nanofibers, as well as surface ionic conduction, improved the responseto ammonia gas in a synergistic manner.
