A 3D analytical model for the probabilistic characteristics of self-healing model for concrete using spherical microcapsule

        He-hua Zhu,Shuai Zhou,Zhi-guo Yan,Woody Ju,Qing Chen 사단법인 한국계산역학회 2015 Computers and Concrete, An International Journal Vol.15 No.1

In general, cracks significantly deteriorate the in-situ performance of concrete members and structures, especially in urban metro tunnels that have been embedded in saturated soft soils. The microcapsule self-healing method is a newly developed healing method for repairing cracked concrete. To investigate the optimal microcapsule parameters that will have the best healing effect in concrete, a 3D analytical probability healing model is proposed; it is based on the microcapsule self-healing method’s healing mechanism, and its purpose is to predict the healing efficiency and healing probability of given cracks. The proposed model comprehensively considers the radius and the volume fraction of microcapsules, the expected healing efficiency, the parameters of cracks, the broken ratio and the healing probability. Furthermore, a simplified probability healing model is proposed to facilitate the calculation. Then, a Monte Carlo test is conducted to verify the proposed 3D analytical probability healing model. Finally, the influences of microcapsules’ parameters on the healing efficiency and the healing probability of the microcapsule self-healing method are examined in light of the proposed probability model.

        He, Hui-Bo,Li, Hua-Ying,Xu, Zhe-Zhu,Kim, Dong-Uk,Lyu, Sung-Ki 한국정밀공학회 2010 International Journal of Precision Engineering and Vol.11 No.6

$MoS_2$-based Ti composite coatings were deposited on the SCM420 alloy and gears using an RF magnetron sputtering (RFMS) system. While $MoS_2$ coating had been coated on the silicon substrate. The coatings structures were compared to each other to find the effect of Ti. The composite coatings have been tested in a ball-on-disk tribometer to investigate tribological behavior at various conditions. The scratch test was conducted to characterize adhesion force between composite coatings and substrates. The structure of the coatings has been extensively studied by a variety of techniques, including optical microscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM), etc. The composite coatings were also applied to the gears of a reduction gearbox. The efficiency of uncoated and $MoS_2$-based Ti coated gear was measured and compared at various input rotating speed under absorption oil film condition. It was found that the efficiency of gear had significantly improved after $MoS_2$-based Ti composite coatings deposition.

Shakedown analysis of a wind turbine gear considering strain-hardening and the initial residual stress

Haifeng He,Hua iju Liu,Caichao Zhu,Longhua Yuan 대한기계학회 2018 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.32 No.11

Under some heavy-duty conditions, the shakedown state may occur on gears such as those used in a megawatt wind turbine gearbox. The plastic deformation and the residual stress formed within the shakedown process further influence the contact behavior and the service life of the gear. The initial residual stress caused by the heat treatment of the case-hardening gear, together with the strain-hardening constitutive behavior of the material, have a combined effect on the shakedown state. A two-dimensional elastic-plastic contact numerical model was developed for a case-hardened wind turbine gear to study effects of the initial residual stress and the strain-hardening properties. Plastic strain and residual stress are calculated at each loading cycle without the consideration of the tooth friction. The initial yield limit and the hardening modulus of the material were obtained through a tension test on a universal tensile test machine. The initial residual stress distribution was measured with the X ray diffraction method and then embedded in the finite element model. The results show that strain-hardening behavior can significantly improve the shakedown performance, and the larger the hardening modulus is, the less the maximum plastic strain is at the final shakedown state. Initial residual compressive stress is helpful to improve the shakedown performance, while initial residual tensile stress has negative influence on the shakedown performance. As the normal load increases, the influence of the initial residual stress on the shakedown state becomes weakened.

      • KRAS Mutation as a Biomarker for Survival in Patients with Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer, A Meta-Analysis of 12 Randomized Trials

Ying, Min,Zhu, Xiao-Xia,Zhao, Yang,Li, Dian-He,Chen, Long-Hua Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2015 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.16 No.10

Background: Because there is no clear consensus for the prognostic implication of KRAS mutations in patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), we conducted a meta-analysis based on 12 randomized trials to draw a more accurate conclusion. Materials and Methods: A systematic computer search of articles from inception to May 1, 2014 using the PubMed, EMBASE, and Cochrane databases was conducted. The enrollment of articles and extraction of data were independently performed by two authors. Results: Our analysis was based on the endpoints overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS). Nine records (All for OS, 7 for PFS) comprising 12 randomized trials were identified with 3701 patients who underwent a test for KRAS mutations. In the analysis of the pooled hazard ratios (HRs) for OS (HR: 1.39; 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.23-1.56) and PFS (HR: 1.33; 95% CI 1.17-1.51), we found that KRAS mutations are related to poor survival benefit for NSCLC. According to a subgroup analysis stratified by disease stage and line of therapy, the combined HRs for OS and PFS coincided with the finding that the presence of a KRAS mutation is a dismal prognostic factor. However, the prognostic role of KRAS mutations are not statistically significant in a subgroup analysis of patients treated with chemotherapy in combination with cetuximab based on the endpoints OS (P=0.141) and PFS (P=0.643). Conclusions: Our results indicate that KRAS mutations are associated with inferior survival benefits for NSCLC but not for those treated with chemotherapies integrating cetuximab.

Fresh Washed Microbiota Transplantation Alters Gut Microbiota Metabolites to Ameliorate Sleeping Disorder Symptom of Autistic Children

        Liu Nai-Hua,Liu Hong-Qian,Zheng Jia-Yi,Zhu Meng-Lu,Wu Li-Hao,Pan Hua-Feng,He Xing-Xiang 한국미생물학회 2023 The journal of microbiology Vol.61 No.8

Accumulating studies have raised concerns about gut dysbiosis associating autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and its related symptoms. However, the effect of gut microbiota modification on the Chinese ASD population and its underlying mechanism were still elusive. Herein, we enrolled 24 ASD children to perform the first course of fresh washed microbiota transplantation (WMT), 18 patients decided to participate the second course, 13 of which stayed to participate the third course, and there were 8 patients at the fourth course. Then we evaluated the effects of fresh WMT on these patients and their related symptoms. Our results found that the sleeping disorder symptom was positively interrelated to ASD, fresh WMT significantly alleviated ASD and its sleeping disorder and constipation symptoms. In addition, WMT stably and continuously downregulated Bacteroides/ Flavonifractor/Parasutterella while upregulated Prevotella_9 to decrease toxic metabolic production and improve detoxification by regulating glycolysis/myo-inositol/D-glucuronide/D-glucarate degradation, L-1,2-propanediol degradation, fatty acid β-oxidation. Thus, our results suggested that fresh WMT moderated gut microbiome to improve the behavioral and sleeping disorder symptoms of ASD via decrease toxic metabolic production and improve detoxification. Which thus provides a promising gut ecological strategy for ASD children and its related symptoms treatments.

Characteristics of the aerodynamic interference between two high-rise buildings of different height and identical square cross-section

        Huang Dongmei,Zhu Xue,He Shiqing,He Xuhui,He Hua 한국풍공학회 2017 Wind and Structures, An International Journal (WAS Vol.24 No.5

In this work, wind tunnel tests of pressure measurements are carried out to assess the global aerodynamic interference factors, the local wind pressure interference factors, and the local lift spectra of an square high-rise building interfered by an identical cross-sections but lower height building arranged in various relative positions. The results show that, when the interfering building is located in an area of oblique upstream, the RMS of the along-wind, across-wind, and torsional aerodynamic forces on the test building increase significantly, and when it is located to a side, the mean across-wind and torsional aerodynamic forces increase; In addition, when the interfering building is located upstream or staggered upstream, the mean wind pressures on the sheltered windward side turn form positive to negative and with a maximum absolute value of up to 1.75 times, and the fluctuating wind pressures on the sheltered windward side and leading edge of the side increase significantly with decreasing spacing ratio (up to a maximum of 3.5 times). When it is located to a side, the mean and fluctuating wind pressures on the leading edge of inner side are significantly increased. The three-dimensional flow around a slightly-shorter disturbing building has a great effect on the average and fluctuating wind pressures on the windward or cross-wind faces. When the disturbing building is near to the test building, the vortex shedding peak in the lift spectra decreases and there are no obvious signs of periodicity, however, the energies of the high frequency components undergo an obvious increase.

IL-13 R110Q, a Naturally Occurring IL-13 Polymorphism, Confers Enhanced Functional Activity in Cultured Human Bronchial Smooth Muscle Cells

        Ya-fang He,Li Hua,Yi-xiao Bao,Quan-hua Liu,Yi Chu,Ding-zhu Fang 대한천식알레르기학회 2013 Allergy, Asthma & Immunology Research Vol.5 No.6

Purpose: Interleukin (IL)-13, a Th2-type cytokine, plays a pivotal role in the pathogenesis of asthma through its direct effects on airway smoothmuscles. A naturally occurring IL-13 polymorphism, R110Q, is strongly associated with increased total serum IgE levels and asthma. In the presentstudy, we aimed to determine whether the IL-13 R110Q variant would display different biochemical properties or altered functions in comparisonwith wild-type (WT) IL-13 in cultured human bronchial smooth muscle cells (hBSMCs). Methods: Culture supernatants and cell proteins were collectedfrom cultured hBSMCs that were treated with 50 ng/mL IL-13 or IL-13 R110Q for 24 h. Eotaxin released into hBSMC culture medium was determinedby ELISA. The expression levels of the high-affinity IgE receptor (FcεRI) α-chain, smooth muscle-specific actin alpha chain (α-SMA), smoothmuscle myosin heavy chain (SmMHC), and calreticulin in the cells were measured on Western blots. Results: Compared with WT IL-13, treatmentwith the IL-13 R110Q variant resulted in a significant increase in eotaxin release as well as significant, although modest, increases in the expressionlevels of α-SMA, SmMHC, calreticulin, and FcεRI α-chain. Conclusions: The results of the present study suggenst that the IL-13 R110Q variantmay enhance enhanced functional activities in hBSMCs.
