We use both the zero-magnetic-field resistivity and the phase coherence time determined by weaklocalization as independent thermometers for Dirac fermions (DF) in multilayer graphene. In thehigh current (I) region, there exists a simple power law TDF / I0.5, where TDF is the effective Diracfermion temperature for epitaxial graphene on SiC. In contrast, TDF / I1 in exfoliated multilayergraphene. We discuss possible reasons for the different power laws observed in these multilayergraphene systems. Our experimental results on DF-phonon scattering may find applications ingraphene-based nanoelectronics.
Thyroid Fine-Needle Aspiration in Taiwan: The History and Current Practice

In Taiwan, thyroid cancer is the most common endocrine gland malignancy and the incidence of thyroid cancer has increased four-fold in the past two decades. Fine-needle aspiration is an accurate and cost-effective method of evaluating thyroid nodules and has been the gold-standard diagnostic tool for thyroid tumors in Taiwan since the 1980s. This article reviews the history, current practice, reporting systems, training, and quality assurance for thyroid fine-needle aspiration cytology in Taiwan.
The Awareness and Purchase Intention of Consumers for Electronic Insurance Policies

대만에서는 금융 감독 위원회의 보험국이 전자보험계약의 사용을 승인한 후에, 보험회사와 소비자 사이의 보험상품의 제안, 인수, 현금 유출입과 보험증권 발행 등의 보험계약활동이 인터넷을 통해 수행될 수 있었다. 본 연구에서는 온라인으로 보험 계약을 하고자 하는 소비자들의 특성뿐만 아니라 전자 보험 계약에 대한 인터넷 사용자들의 인지, 구매 의사, 그리고 수요에 관해서 조사하였다. 연구결과는 대학졸업 이상의 교육을 받고 월평균 NT$60,000이상의 소득을 가지는 남자 소비자들이 전자보험계약에 대한 인지정도가 더 높음을 보여준다. 전자 보험 계약의 구매 의사는 소비자의 하루 평균 인터넷 접속 시간과 높은 연관성이 있었다. 전자 보험 계약 구매 의사가 있는 중요 소비자들은 학생그룹과 화이트칼라 그룹 등 2개의 그룹으로 모아질 수 있다. 그들은 주로 20세에서 29세 사이의 독신으로 하루 평균 2시간 이상 인터넷을 접속하고 있다. 구매 의사와 상관없이 '온라인 거래 안전성'과 '정보누설의 정도'는 모두 소비자에게 중요하다. 소비자들이 선호하는 전자보험의 형태로는 단기보험으로서 표준화된 보험계약이고, 이에는 여행자 보험, 강제적인 자동차 책임보험 그리고 상해 보험 등이 포함된다. After the Insurance Bureau of the Financial Supervisory Commission approved the use of electronic insurance policies, the insurance contract activities between insurance companies and consumers, which include offering, underwriting, cash flow and insurance policy issuing, can be done via internet in Taiwan. This research investigates the awareness, purchase intent, and demand of internet users toward electronic insurance policies, as well as the characteristics of consumers who intend to purchase insurance policies online. Our results show that consumers who are male, with education over a graduate level, and with average monthly income over NT$60,000 have higher awareness of electronic insurance policies. The purchase intent of electronic insurance policies is highly correlated with the consumer’s average daily internet access time. The consumers who have significant intentto purchase electronic insurance policies can be clustered into two groups, the "student-group" and "white-collar-group." They are between 20 and 29 years of age, unmarried, and with an average daily internet access time of over 2 hours. Regardless of purchase intent, "online transaction safety" and "degree of information disclosure" are both important to consumers. The types of electronic insurance plans accepted by consumers are short-term, simple, and standardized insurance policies. These include travel insurance, coactive automobile liability insurance, and accident insurance.

CBN (Cubic Boron Nitride) tool is suitable for precision machining of nickel-based alloy due to its high hardness and chemical inert. Nickel-based alloys are difficult-to-cut material. When high-speed cutting nickel-based alloys with CBN tool, the temperature at tool-workpiece interface is very high. The atoms in workpiece material diff use into the tool surface and change the performance of cutting tool, resulting in diffusion wear. Inconel 718, which is one kind of widely used nickel-based alloy, is mainly composed of nickel (Ni), iron (Fe) and chromium (Cr). In this paper, the cutting model which describes the single crystal CBN tool cutting Ni–Fe–Cr three-component alloy, and the compression and impact model of CBN tool crystal are established by using molecular dynamics (MD) method to study the diffusion of Ni, Fe and Cr atoms into CBN tool and the effects of diffusion on the properties of CBN crystal tool. The results show that the diffusion of Ni, Fe and Cr atoms into CBN tool decreases the compressive strength and impact toughness of CBN crystals and the effects degree of atom diffusion on the properties of CBN crystals are different.
Research on Local Buckling of Stainless Steel Lipped C-Section Beam Around Strong-Axis

To study the local buckling capacity of stainless steel beams with lipped C-sections under strong axis bending, tensile tests were performed on 12 stainless steel coupons based on S30408 austenitic stainless steel (AISI304) in fl at and corner areas, and mechanical properties and stress–strain curves were obtained. Then, local buckling capacity tests were performed on 6 specimens of stainless steel beams under strong axis bending to determine their mechanical properties and failure mechanism. The failure phenomenon, load–displacement curve, load–strain curve and local buckling capacity were determined. Results show that the failure modes of the specimens are local buckling failure of the fl ange and web at mid-span. Additionally, a refi ned fi nite element analysis model was developed using Python and ABAQUS to simulate and analyse the mechanical performance and local buckling capacity. Then, the analytical results were compared to the test results, and the accuracy of the refi ned model was verifi ed. Then, the refi ned model of the stainless steel C-section beam was simplifi ed including the constraint simplifi cation model, which considered diff erent fl ange constraints and initial imperfections, and the length simplifi cation model, which was based on diff erent length and support constraints. The comparative analysis results showed that the constraint simplifi cation model can simulate the local buckling failure mode more accurately than other models. Additionally, initial imperfections were shown to have little eff ect on the local buckling capacity; however, specimen length and the bearing constraint condition did aff ect the local buckling capacity.

Design of Smart Temperature Transmitter

The design of digital temperature transmitter based on microcontroller ADuC824 is introduced. With the peripheral feature integrated in microcontroller ADuC824 the hardware is simplified and reliability is improved. The interface of thermocouple with A/D converter in ADuC824 and RS232 interface with master computer is presented. The non-linear compensation and cold-junction compensation of thermocouple is provided.
Novel Structural Composite Yarns Spun with Harmonic Migrations of Filaments

A novel structural composite yarn was fabricated by periodically forcing filaments with harmonic migrations toenhance the cooperativity between filaments and staple fibers. The geometrical principle of yarn structure variations causedby harmonic migrations of filaments was theoretically analyzed, then demonstrated the influences of filament’s positions ondifferent shapes of the composite spinning-triangle zone. Further, the novel structural composite yarn structure was comparedto the seven models of composite yarns which were established with different filament’s positions, showing a varied filamenthelical structure to capture and then lock internal and external staple fibers, distinguishing that other composite yarns inliterature. Then, a synergetic eccentric device was employed to oscillate two filaments to conduct confirmatory tests. Theonline observations of the dynamic spinning-triangle zone were technically applied to evaluate the filaments’ harmonicmigrations. Furthermore, the yarn structural variations were caused by various geometrical configurations. Experimentalresults exhibited that the novel structural composite yarn had relatively fewer hairiness, medium irregularity, and strengthafter comparisons with other composite yarns. Altogether, the cyclically harmonic migrations of filaments were promising asan efficient and novel method for control the configurations between filaments and staple fibers.
