Determination of Zinc(2) Ion using Luminescence Method with Salicylidene-o-aminophenol

Zinc(2) ion has been determined using luminescence method with salicylidene- o-aminophenol. After measuring the absorption spectra of salicylidene- o-aminophenol at various pH, we selected 340nm as λex because this wavelength was the isosbestic point. The luminescence intensities were measured at several concentrations and at around 1x10-4 mole the intensity was the largest. Luminescence spectra have been measured at various pH, data at approximately pH 11 were the best. Zinc(2) ion made the luminescence intensity larger.
Development of Sunlight LED Bollard Based on C/GFRP Floodlight Composite

<P>It is safe and light because it uses carbon/glass fiber reinforced plastics (hereinafter referred to as C/GFRP) through this technological development. Moreover, sunlight LED luminous bollard, which was harmonized with the surrounding environment with diverse colors, was developed. Luminous bollard can reduce its weight and also increase its strength by adjusting the intensity and thickness of a product customized for each usage on the basis of the characteristics of C/GFRP composite. In addition, C/GFRP and steel pipe were compared for the compression test in order to compare the objective rigidity. As a result, this study could obtain a positive result graph of luminous bollard. To develop luminous bollard, the composite development process was configured through a fixture of pullout and filament winding. Diverse colors can be applied to luminous bollard. Hence, it is possible to select a color customized for each region. It is also possible to create an aesthetic harmony with a surrounding environment through LED lamps at night. The pipe, which was 50 percent lighter than stainless and also which had excellent tensile strength, was designed to develop the bollard that has superior convenience in terms of construction, maintenance and repair.</P>

NDP kinases (NDPKs) are multifunctional proteins that regulate a variety of eukaryotic cellular activities, including cell proliferation, development, and differentiation. However, much less is known about the functional significance of NDPKs in plants. We show here that NDPK is associated with H_(2)O_(2)-mediated mitogen-activated protein kinase signaling in plants. H_(2)O_(2)stress strongly induces the expression of the NDPK2 gene in Arabidopsis thaliana (AtNDPK2). Proteins from transgenic plants overexpressing AtNDPK2 showed high levels of autophosphorylation and NDPK activity, and they have lower levels of reactive oxygen species (ROS) than wild-type plants. Mutants lacking AtNDPK2 had higher levels of ROS than wild type. H_(2)O_(2) treatment induced the phosphorylation of two endogenous proteins whose molecular weights suggested they are AtMPK3 and AtMPK6, two H_(2)O_(2)-activated A. thaliana mitogen-activated protein kinses. In the absence of H_(2)O_(2) treatment, phosphorylation of these proteins was slightly elevated in plants overexpressing AtNDPK2 but markedly decreased in the AtNDPK2 deletion mutant. Yeast two-hybrid and in vitro protein pull-down assays revealed that AtNDPK2 specifically interacts with AtMPK3 and AtMPK6. Furthermore, AtNDPK2 also enhances the myelin basic protein phosphorylation activity of AtMPK3 in vitro. Finally, constitutive overexpression of AtNDPK2 in Arabidopsis plants conferred an enhanced tolerance to multiple environmental stresses that elicit ROS accumulation in situ. Thus, AtNDPK2 appears to play a previously uncharacterized regulatory role in H_(2)O_(2)-mediated MAPK signaling in plants.

Mixed Use Apartments have been recognized as a new type of urban housing in Korea since government's promotional policy in the middle of 1900's. However, the research on the use of the community facility in the super high-rise mixed-use apartment has not been sufficiently performed to understand the present status of them. Therefore, this study aims to find out residential satisfaction and preference based on use of community facilities to suggest the design guide lines for each community facility in the super high-rise mixed-use apartments. Research methods are as follows; 1. Categorizing the type of the super high-rise mixed-use apartment by placing the community facility. 2. Analysing the variety and size of the community facilities through architectural drawings of nineteen cases 3. Surveying the average using hour a week, satisfaction and preference of the community facilities for each site by type. The results of this study are as follows; 1. Through the analysis of drawings, sports facility and quality lobby were found to be arranged in most cases, than any other facilities. 2. Sports facilities were found to have the highest frequency level of average using hours a week and the highest satisfaction level on the size and quality among the community facilities in the super high-rise mixed-use apartments. 3. The lobby was regarded as a very important design factor, and it may be able to integrate and vitalize the community. 4. With integrating the results on the analysis of residents' consciousness, the size and diversity of the community facility are needed to extend.
Physicochemical Property of Polygonum multiflorum by Acetic Acid Bacteria Fermentation

Polygonum multiflorum (Polygonaceae family) is effective to cholesterol lowering effect, increased immunity effect and whitening effect. P. multiflorum root is used for medicinal herb that can be used as raw material for food. In this study, acetic acid fermentation was adding extracts of P. multiflorum root(0%, 1%, 3%, 5%) for the developing healthy beverage. In this study, we investigated the contents of free sugars, organic acids and inorganic components of P. multiflorum root. As a result of free sugars from P. multiflorum root analysis, three kind of free sugars were determined the glucose, sucrose and lactose by HPLC. Four kind of organic acids were found in lactic acid fermented P. multiflorum root. And oxalic acid, lactic acid and succinic acid were detected in organic acids. The content of lactose and lactic acid in lactic acid fermented P. multiflorum root was the highest among the free sugars and organic acids. The content of minerals were in high orders of sodium> calcium> magnesium in P. multiflorum by acetic acid fermentation. The content of inorganic components was highest in lactic acid fermented solution with 5% and proportional to the content of P. multiflorum

The monitoring of phytoplankton biomass and community structure is essential as a first step to control the harmful cyanobacterial blooms in freshwater systems, such as seen in rivers and lakes, due to the process of eutrophication and climate change. In order to quantify the biomass of phytoplankton with a wide range in size and shape, the measurement of cell biovolume along with cell density is required for a comprehensive review on this issue. However, most routine monitoring programs preserve the gathered phytoplankton samples before analysis using chemical additives, because of the constraint of time and the number of samples. The purpose of this study was to investigate the cell biovolume change characteristics of six cyanobacterial species, which are common bloom-causing cyanobacteria in the Nakdong River, after the preservation with Lugol’s iodine solution. All species showed a statistically significant difference after the addition of Lugol’s iodine solution compared to the live cell biovolume, and the cell biovolume decreased to the level of 34.0 ~ 56.3 % at maximum in each species after the preservation. The nonlinear regression models for determining the shrinkage ratio by a preservation period were derived by using the cell biovolume measured until 180 days preservation of each target species, and the equation to convert the cell biovolume measured after preservation for a certain period to the cell biovolume of viable cell was derived using that formula. The conversion equation derived from this study can be used to estimate the actual cell biovolume in the natural environment at the time of sampling, by using the measured biovolume after the preservation in the phytoplankton monitoring. Moreover this is expected to contribute to the final interpretation of the water quality and aquatic ecosystem impacts due to the cyanobacterial blooms.
