D-003 is a mixture of long-chain fatty acids isolated and purified from sugar cane wax with cholesterol-low-ering and antiplatelet effects. In order to further characterize the developmental toxicity during the treatment period from lategestation up to weaning of the offspring, pregnant females received 0 (control), 500, and 1,000 mg/kg/day D-003 daily byoral gavage beginning at day 15 of pregnancy and through gestation until day 21 postpartum. Maternal clinical signs, bodyweight, and food intake were measured at regular intervals during gestation and lactation. Live pups were weighed, sexed, and examined for developmental signs. One female and male of each litter were randomly selected to evaluate the reproduc-tive potential. There were no spontaneous or dose-related maternal deaths during the course of this study. The general healthand behavioral condition of offspring was good in all groups. No significant differences among groups were found in com-parisons of litter size, survival through the weaning period, sex ratio, and male and female weights. This peri- and postnatalstudy conducted with D-003 in rats indicated that treatment of the dam during late gestation and lactation did not show ad-versely effects on reproductive performance or fetal development over two generations.

<P>We report on a CDF measurement of the total cross section and rapidity distribution, d sigma/dy, for gamma*/Z -> e(+)e(-) events in the Z boson mass region (66 < M-ee < 116 GeV/c(2)) produced in p (p) over bar collisions at root s = 1.96 TeV with 2.1 fb(-1) of integrated luminosity. The measured cross section of 257 +/- 16 pb and d sigma/dy distribution are compared with Next-to-Leading-Order (NLO) and Next-to-Next-to-Leading-Order (NNLO) QCD theory predictions with CTEQ and MRST/MSTW parton distribution functions (PDFs). There is good agreement between the experimental total cross section and d sigma/dy measurements with theoretical calculations with the most recent NNLO PDFs. (C) 2010 Elsevier B.V. The aim of this study was to systematically review the scientific literature, with Preferred Reporting Items of Systematic Reviews and Meta-analyses (PRISMA) guidelines, of the articles found in the past 11 years on the gastroprotective role of fruit extracts in gastric ulcers induced by non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Scientific articles published between 2010 and 2020 were included in this systematic review, including in vitro and in vivo models, to define the gastroprotective role of fruit extracts. Studies were selected by Rayyan using PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, and Science Direct databases. The keywords for the search strategy were: ‘‘gastric injury,’’ ‘‘gastric ulcer,’’ ‘‘fruit,’’ ‘‘indomethacin,’’ and‘‘aspirin.’’ Twenty-two articles with animal models of gastric ulcers were included. The NSAIDs used were aspirin and indomethacin. To know the damage caused by these, the ulceration index and biomarkers, such as aggressive/defensive factorsinvolved in the gastric ulceration process, were measured. Most studies have shown that fruit extracts have antiulcer activity, with the most abundant metabolites being flavonoids, followed by terpenes and alkaloids. Possible antiulcer activities such as antioxidant, cytoprotective, gastric acid antisecretory, anti-inflammatory, or angiogenesis stimulant were declared, manifested mainly as a reduction of lipid peroxidation products, an increase in antioxidant enzymes and prostaglandins, and by the formation of a protective film through protein precipitation in the ulcer area. This systematic review demonstrates the importance of fruit extracts as gastric protectors.

The advent of smart manufacturing (SM) has led to the creation of collaborative environments with cyber-physical systems (CPS) that generate added value. However, the performance of combined industrial operations between mobile CPS such as autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) and collaborative robots (cobots) is hampered by the high uncertainty between their relative spatial locations and the existence of heterogeneous communication protocols that create a barrier to their integration into production processes. For this reason, a novel contact system method (CSM) is proposed to determine the position of the AMR without the need for any additional hardware making use of an architecture that facilitates efficient communication between AMRs and cobots. For this purpose, a mathematical model has been defined to characterize the position of a spatial object with six degrees of freedom in order to calculate the deviation between the AMR and the cobot base. The proposed method has also been evaluated by quantifying the position and orientation error before and after applying the CSM. The effectiveness of the CSM method has been assessed in a real application case based on the feasibility of performing an assembly operation between a bearing and different shafts. The results show a significant improvement of 96.2% in positional accuracy and 85.4% in orientation compared to AMR accuracy. In addition, a 92.5% success rate was achieved in the assembly operation analyzed between a bearing and a shaft of the same diameter. Furthermore, the proposed architecture has enabled the coordination between the cobot and the AMR by automating the processes. Therefore, this work contributes to the field of SM by proposing a practical solution to the challenges of generating added value through the creation of collaborative environments with CPS.

Background and Objectives: Pulmonary valve replacement (PVR) is the most common operation in adults with congenital heart disease (CHD). There is controversy regarding the best bioprosthesis. We compare the performance of stented bioprosthetic valves (the Mosaic [Medtronic™] porcine pericardial against Carpentier Perimount Magna Ease [Edwards™] bovine) in pulmonary position in patients with CHD. Methods: Between January 1999 and December 2019, all the PVRs were identified from hospital databases in 2 congenital heart centres in Spain. Valve performance was evaluated using clinical and echocardiographic criteria. Propensity score matching was used to balance the 2 treatment groups. Results: Three hundred nineteen patients were retrospectively identified. After statistical adjustment, 79 propensity-matched pairs were available for comparison Freedom from reintervention for the porcine cohort was 98.3%, 96.1%, and 91.9% at 3, 5, and 10 years and 100%, 98%, and 90.8% for the bovine cohort (p=0.88). Freedom from structural valve degeneration (SVD) for the porcine cohort was 96.9%, 92.8% and 88.7% at 3, 5, and 10 years and 100%, 98%, and 79.1% for the bovine cohort (p=0.38). Bovine prosthesis was associated with a reintervention hazard ratio (HR), 1.12; 95% confidence intervals (CIs), 0.24–5.26; p=0.89 and SVD HR, 1.69 (0.52–5.58); p=0.38. In the first 5 years, there was no difference in outcomes. After 5 years, the recipients of the bovine bioprosthesis were at higher risk for SVD (reintervention HR, 2.08 [0.27–16.0]; p=0.49; SVD HR, 6.99 [1.23–39.8]; p=0.03). Conclusions: Both bioprosthesis have similar outcomes up to 5 years, afterwards, porcine bioprosthesis seem to have less SVD.

The successful development of advanced nuclear systems for sustainable energy production and nuclear waste management depends on high quality nuclear data libraries. Recent sensitivity studies and reports [1][2][3] have identified the need for substantially improving the accuracy of neutron cross-section data for minor actinides. The n_TOF collaboration has initiated an ambitious experimental program for the measurement of neutron capture cross sections of minor actinides. Two experimental setups have been constructed for this purpose: a Total Absorption Calorimeter (TAC) [4] for measuring neutron capture cross-sections of low-mass and/or radioactive samples and a set of two low neutron sensitivity C_6D_6 detectors for the less radioactive materials.

Dear Editor, Ceftolozane-tazobactam (C/T) and ceftazidime-avibactam (CZA) were recently approved for the treatment of complicated intra-abdominal infections and complicated urinary tract infections (http://www.fda.gov/NewsEvents/Newsroom/PressAnnouncements/ucm427534.htm, http://www.fda.gov/NewsEvents/Newsroom/PressAnnouncements/ucm435629.htm, both accessed February 24, 2016). To date, only one study has simultaneously evaluated the activities of C/T and CZA in vitro against Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and few studies have evaluated the effects of these antibiotics on multi-drug resistant (MDR) gram-negative bacteria [1-3]. This study aimed to examine the activities of C/T and CZA against β-lactam-resistant Enterobacteriaceae and P. aeruginosa clinical isolates.

In this paper, we describe a voice-based interaction mechanism to annotate 3D models directly from a computer-aided design (CAD) modeling environment. The audio signal is captured and automatically transcribed to a textual 3D note, which is attached to the geometry and made available to other product information and business processes across the enterprise via a product data management system. Our approach provides a more natural and intuitive method to capture design and engineering knowledge that is particularly effective when large amounts of information need to be communicated. We discuss the rationale of the software architecture and the value of this modality for capturing knowledge in a collaborative engineering context. Finally, we examine the results of an experiment to validate our proposal. Our results show that 3D annotations are an effective mechanism to communicate design knowledge, which suggests the need for further developments in the areas of multimodal interaction methods and interfaces for CAD and collaborative tools.
