Gomez-Polo, Cristina,Gomez-Polo, Miguel,Martinez Vazquez de Parga, Juan Antonio,Celemin Vinuela, Alicia The Korean Academy of Prosthodonitics 2015 The Journal of Advanced Prosthodontics Vol.7 No.6
PURPOSE. To identify the most frequent natural tooth colors using the Easyshade Compact (Vita -Zahnfabrik) spectrophotometer on a sample of the Spanish population according to the 3D Master System. MATERIALS AND METHODS. The middle third of the facial surface of natural maxillary central incisors was measured with an Easyshade Compact spectrophotometer (Vita Zahnfabrik) in 1361 Caucasian Spanish participants aged between 16 and 89 years. Natural tooth color was recorded using the 3D Master System nomenclature. The program used for the present descriptive statistical analysis of the results was SAS 9.1.3. RESULTS. The results show that the most frequent dental color in the total sample studied is 3M1 (7.05%), followed by the intermediate shade 1M1.5 (6.91%) and 2L1.5 (6.02%). CONCLUSION. According to the research methodology used, and taking into account the limitations of this study, it can be proposed that the most frequent color among the Spanish population is 3M1; the most common lightness group is 2; the most frequent hue group according to the 3D Master System is M and the most frequent chroma group is 1.5.
Poster Session : PS 0725 ; Rheumatology ; Case Report: Elderly-Onset Systemic Lupus Erythematosus
( Ruben Gomez ),( Ericka Carrillo ),( Filiberto Gomez ) 대한내과학회 2014 대한내과학회 추계학술대회 Vol.2014 No.1
Elderly onset SLE contributes to 10% of all SLE and is considered a rare disease, the signs and symptoms are common to other more frequent diseases in this age so the differential diagnosis is wide and could represent a great clinical challenge. We report two cases, one patient presented with data of serositis, acute renal failure and glomerulonephritis; while the other had evidence of cerebral vasculitis. Case 1: 60 year old male with 6 months of asthenia, malaise and early-morning bilateral limb edema, received treatment with diuretics without improvement, presenting arterial hypertension. He was admitted with IV NYHA class Congestive HF and left pleural effusion. Laboratory reported Hb 14. 3 g/dl, leucocytes 5750 (normal differential count), ESR of 50 mm/h, creatinine 2. 1 mg/dl, urea 60 mg/dl, urinalysis was positive for albumin, hemoglobin and granular casts; GFR 35 ml/min, and 24-hour albuminuria 3. 8 g. ECHO showed a 68% LVEF and 150 ml pericardial effusion. Immunologic profi le showed positive ANA (1:140), positive anti-dsDNA (1:60), and positive anti-SM (1:65). Kidney biopsy showed focal-segmental glomerulonephritis. Case 2: 68 year-old female positive for Diabetes Mellitus and Arterial Hypertension treated with glibenclamide and captopril. She presented at ER with diplopia, bilateral internuclear ophthalmoplegia and bilateral limb paraparesis, initial head CT-scan was normal, so she was admitted to the hospital. A second simple and contrasted head CT-scan was also normal, then the head MRI showed vasculitis and the brain SPECT revealed hypocaptating areas in midbrain, frontal and parietal cortex. Laboratory reported Hb 13. 3 g/dl, leucocytes 2578, glycose 145 mg/dl, normal creatinine, hepatic profi le and urinalysis. Immunologic profi le reported negative ANA, positive anti-dsDNA (1:95) and positive anti-SM (1:120). Both patients received treatment with Cyclophosphamide and Methylprednisolone with great response.

The morphometry and distribution of the unarmoured dinoflagellates Brachidinium capitatum F.J.R. Taylor, Asterodinium gracile Sournia, Microceratium orstomii Sournia and the toxic species Karenia papilionacea Haywood et Steidinger have been investigated in open waters of the SE Pacific Ocean. The genus Microceratium Sournia is recorded for the first time since the initial description. These taxa showed a high morphological similarity and they may correspond to life stages of a highly versatile single species that is able to project body extensions. Karenia papilionacea showed the higher abundance in the surface waters of the more productive areas (the Marquesas Archipelago and the Perú-Chile Current). Brachidinium capitatum and K. papilionacea often co-occurred, predominating B. capitatum in offshore surface waters. Asterodinium gracile was recorded at the bottom of the euphotic zone (down to 210 m depth), with a shallower distribution in more productive areas. Intermediate specimens of Asterodinium-Brachidinium-Karenia, with variable disposition and size of the body extensions were illustrated.
Mold Filling Analysis of an Alignment Structure in Micro Hot Embossing
Gomez, Juan A.,Conner, Glenn T.,Chun, Du Hwan,Kim, Yoo-Jae,Song, In-Hyouk,You, Byoung Hee THE KOREAN FIBER SOCIETY 2014 FIBERS AND POLYMERS Vol.15 No.6
Hot embossing is one of the most popular fabrication methods to replicate polymer microdevices in the field of micro-fluidics and micro-optics. Numerical models for hot embossing were constructed to analyze the advance of flow front of the molten polymer using commercial software, DEFORM-2D. A hemisphere tipped post, used as an alignment structure in the assembly of micro devices, was modeled to demonstrate the flow behavior of the molten polymer in mold filling. Hot embossing experiments were performed to validate the feasibility of the numerical models. Most of the simulations showed agreement with experiments. The mold filling was estimated with the heights of the embossed posts in the analysis. No significant mold filling with the molten polymer was observed below the glass transition temperature of $105^{\circ}C$. The mold cavity was completely filled with the polymer at the molding temperature of $137.5^{\circ}C$ and $150^{\circ}C$ while the embossing forces were 300, 600, and 900 N.
Enabling role of hybrid simulation across NEES in advancing earthquake engineering
Gomez, Daniel,Dyke, Shirley J.,Maghareh, Amin Techno-Press 2015 Smart Structures and Systems, An International Jou Vol.15 No.3
Hybrid simulation is increasingly being recognized as a powerful technique for laboratory testing. It offers the opportunity for global system evaluation of civil infrastructure systems subject to extreme dynamic loading, often with a significant reduction in time and cost. In this approach, a reference structure/system is partitioned into two or more substructures. The portion of the structural system designated as 'physical' or 'experimental' is tested in the laboratory, while other portions are replaced with a computational model. Many researchers have quite effectively used hybrid simulation (HS) and real-time hybrid simulation (RTHS) methods for examination and verification of existing and new design concepts and proposed structural systems or devices. This paper provides a detailed perspective of the enabling role that HS and RTHS methods have played in advancing the practice of earthquake engineering. Herein, our focus is on investigations related to earthquake engineering, those with CURATED data available in their entirety in the NEES Data Repository.

Wild-type p53 is involved in several aspects of cell cycle control and suppression of transformation. inducing either apoptosis or G block in cell cycle progression. Using a recombinant adenovirus containting the wild-type p53 cDNA, the biological effects of the newly expressed wild-type p53 protein were examined in six human glioma cell lines. Three cell lines(U-251 MG. U0373 MG. and A-172) expressed endogenous mutant p53. and the other three(U-87 MG EFC-2, and D54 MG) expressed wild-type p53. The restoration of normal p53-encoded protein in the mutant cell lines induecd apoptosis as assessed by morphological studies using nuclear staining. electron microscopy. and flow cytometric assays. In wild-type p53 cell lines. However, the over expression of wild-type p53 did not result in apoptosis but inhibited cellular proliferation rather drastically and modified the neoplastic phenotype. This study shows that over-expression of wild-type p53 protein by an adenoviral vector induces apoptosis in mutant glioma cells as well as growth arrest in wild-type glioma cells.
Selective non digestion of yellow mealworm Tenebrio molitor larvae by arowana
Gomez, Dennis Kaw,Kim, Ji Hyung,Choresca, Casiano Hermopia Jr.,Baeck, Gun Wook,Park, Se Chang The Korean Society of Veterinary Science 2007 大韓獸醫學會誌 Vol.47 No.2
This study reveals the unusual case reported for the first time on the selective non digestion of yellow mealworm (Tenebrio molitor) larvae by arowana fish. In January 2005, an Asian arowana (Scleropages formosus) (red variety), from Daesang Tropical Fish Corporation, Seoul, Korea, mortality was observed due to unknown cause. No putative causal factors were suggested by bacteriological and parasitological examinations. Internal examination of the dissected stomach showed some undigested debris with mandible parts of mealworms attached to the mucosal lining of stomach wall. Feeding experiment of yellow mealworm (Tenebrio molitor) was conducted on the silver arowana (Osteoglossum bicirrhosum). Result showed that on the test group, fish released vomitous material containing undigested mandibles of mealworm was observed on the 24th day of the feeding experiment. Histopathological examination of the cross section of the stomach wall layers of the test groups, showed detached parts of the mucosal layer and gastric pits around the damaged area with intact mucularis tissues. While the control group fed with mealworm larvae without head part showed intact stomach wall layers consisting of gastric pit, mucosa and mucularis tissues. Fish on both treatments survived until the termination of experiment. The removal of mealworm larvae head before feeding probably help or aid in the fast digestion of these insect larvae.
